How do I find out if this specific car was imported?
  2. Thanks guys, the search continues!
  3. Specifically this one http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/350z/nissan-fairlady-z-rare-high-spec/1988566?isexperiment=true I have had a reasonable quote for the insurance of an import in general, When asked if the car had modifications I said no, No I'm not entirely sure which 'extras' are modifications when it come to Imports The advertisement is particularly helpful either I assume the wheels and spoiler are 'modifications' that require declaring? Also does the price differ for cat tax on an import? Is there anything else I should look for, or be able of? Thanks in advance
  4. Not quite, 20 years ago. I am 28 now.
  5. Just spoke to Alex at Sky, Was suppose to call me at 12pm but never did, so I had to call them, Quoted me £520 (including 20% 350z Owners Club Discount) for an import and said it would be the same price as a UK model. To be honest, he didnt fill me with confidence. For the £150 pa difference, think Id prefer to stick to a UK model and a reputable company
  6. This is going to be very little help, because I cant remember which firm I used, But When I was 21 I insured a BMW Z3 for the day for £12. Was a specialist short-term insurance firm!
  7. Thanks guys, I am awaiting a call back from Sky. I always play it safe with insurance, had an hard time getting a payout when someone ran into my modified Clio
  8. Evening all, New to the forum and hoping to pick up at 350Z in the next few months One query I have regarding Insurance, Pre-research, I was looking into insuring a 350z not knowing the vehicle was an import, I typed in the Reg and got a very good quote of around £350 Since learning abit about the 350z (from this forum), I now know the ones with the square rear plates are Fairlady's and are Imported, Now aswell as inputting the Reg, I also click 'This car is a Japanese Import' - Now my quotes are nearer £600 When I put the Reg of the car in, it automatically brings up 'Nissan 350z Fairlady' does the system already know this car is a Import? and quote me on that accordingly? or am I still expected to declare 'it is an import'? I have read various posts on here saying the insurance doubling for an import is a myth, I hope this is the case!
  9. Was going to avoid asking question in here, but as its been brought up. When I first started looking into the Zeds. I got an insurance quote on Zed I'd liked the look of, I did this by inputting the car reg and received a quote of £300. After doing a bit of research I found out the car I'd like was an import, (No mention in the Ad) so re-did the quote, input the reg and clicked' import', this time the quote was £600. I guess my question is, when you get a quote using just the car reg, does the system know the car is an import and quote you accordingly?
  10. Hello and welcome from sunny Normanton! Hope you're a Cas fan?? Of course, though not been 'down the lane' for a decade!
  11. Good Afternoon Gents, New member from Castleford, West Yorkshire - Looking to pick up a 350z before the end of February, Already used the forum to read lots of useful hints and tips, still have plenty of questions, moslyt regarding whether an import is worth the hassle. Car history, not much to tell, had a Clio from the age of 17-21 which ended been very highly modified, someone ran into the back of me and wrote that off, replaced it with an BMW Z3, which I have now run into the ground. I fell out of love with the car a good few years ago, when the keys were stolen and the car was taken. Living on the outskirts of Leeds I've used the train to get to work, but now a new job frees up funds and I intend on taking the 350z to work! Will have a budget of £6500 and prefer a 350z in the lower tax bracket, Will also be looking at Z's available on here. First question, Has anyone used Trade Link, Kings Langley? They seem to have a cracking selection, but wouldn't want to waste my time, taking the long trek there for nothing! Any feedback? Thanks in advance.
