  1. These wheels look great! Is that completely standard height at the most recent picture?? I really want to stay with 18s for mine but struggle to resist with how good 19s look in comparison to 18s

Totally standard yeah, the additional body bits help the looks a lot and there's not much of an arch gap after putting on the front wheel spacers.

  2. The first picture is absolutely fantastic!

What camera and lense if you don't mind me asking...

Cheers Dave, I do like how the red rims on the wheels look on that one.

The camera is a D7100 and the lens was a 35mm prime for those.

  3. Hey I love the feedback and critique, I can't imagine anyone thinks they've taken the perfect photo :D

I think I will stop plastering the watermark for sure, some small simple text should do the job. It's funny the decisions you make just because you've seen others doing something without thinking it over for yourself.

After getting them online I noticed the reflections and the power lines on those landscape shots are an annoying distraction, will try to touch them out :)

Thanks for the support, will be a long term thing getting the design business together but I don't see myself doing anything else so it kinda has to work!

  4. Thanks for all the comments, I am really happy with the look of the car for now and the parts from Tarmac have completed the vision I had for it. Definitely nice to get confirmation that the guys on here who see some stunning 350s every day can appreciate it too :)

Just one thing I'd do next time, ...I think it looks good in photos sometimes if you turn the steering wheel full lock. ;)

You're 100% right on that, especially when it comes to the angled shots rather than just side on. Thanks for the tip!

Good photos, were these taken by you? I'm not a massive fan of the huge signature/watermark ruining the photos however, some decent photos.

Yeah I invested in a decent camera and the long game is to work on professional projects under the freelance design name. I have actually been rethinking my approach on the watermark because I know it takes away from the images, it's just hard to work out a way to get the content online looking its best whilst also keeping a link back to me just in case someone wants to get in contact.

  5. I recently explored a few locations close to where I live to try and find some good spots for car photography. As well as loving getting some proper photos of my 350Z, I also need proof of what I can offer as I start up a freelance design & photography business.

But yeah these are the results where I just used available light rather than any big rig set ups, hope they go down well on here :)

  6. See I consider myself quite a friendly guy but now I think I've made a crucial mistake. On my way back from the gym in a morning I pass at least one Z coming the other way. I was so excited to see a stunning black 370 on the country road that I flashed and waved. The thing is though I now pass it every morning because I take that route at the same time each day.

Which leaves me with the problem of what to do each time we pass.

Surely I can't keep flashing each morning, in fact already it's dwindled to a nod of recognition and then attempts to make myself look busy already.

What would you do in my situation? I don't want this strange relationship to worsen, can't really change my route home as the road is so fun to drive, and I don't want to change my car!

  7. For a relative beginner i'd say the kit lens, usually 18-55, is more than capable. The below are all taken on an old Nikon D40 with that lens, but now I have 200 and 300mm zoom lenses with my Nikon D7100 along with the experience i've gained so hoping to get much better results. Really need to look in to getting either a 30something prime or the 50mm that people have mentioned, very interesting to read the views on those by people that use them.

  8. I toyed with the idea of torques for ages when i was looking at wheels.

Look brilliant, lower it a bit and you'll be onto a winner

I have to say, most 18s I would say you need to lower, but these look fantastic and fill the arches lovely. Good work Mr Chris Tarmac!

Thanks guys, I might lower it slightly in the future but good to hear that it's looking suitable as it is for the time being.

    Loving the combo! B)

Haha so i'm not the first :D

I'm going to invest in some splitters/spoilers and have them all in black that should tie together the colour combination, as well as colouring the calipers red I think.

Fortunately this thing isn't lacking on power so I don't feel bad adding to the looks first.

  9. Had the 350z for just over 2 months now and I wasn't happy that it was still pretty much standard spec so I decided the biggest change will come from fitting some new wheels. After a quick chat with Chris at Tarmac Sportz at the start of the year I had the exact set in the exact sizes that I wanted (that other suppliers couldn't match) on their way to me along with all new rubber.

I decided to keep the staggered sizes and focus on function rather than form as I've made that mistake on previous cars, so these are Rota Torque Drifts, 18" 8.5/9.5 with I think et30 and et12 offsets. The rears especially look staggering and have added a much more powerful stance to the car. Future plans will help to tie together the colour scheme and I should hopefully end up with it looking track ready.

The result keeps impressing me every time I look out the window and I had to take my camera along for a quick drive at lunch so that I could capture them in the best condition they'll ever be in. So here's the photos, quality greatly reduced by Photobucket, and I hope they go down well :)

  10. Thanks guys, To be honest she's pretty much house trained through the day and 80% of the time goes to the back door, it's just overnight where she seems to have stockpiled her business to display it in time for us getting up. I know that expecting her to hold it all when she's this young isn't realistic though.

She is great fun to watch and it scares me how intelligent and inquisitive she is at times - watching TV and using tactics to get treats out of her toys (Kong).

  11. I never thought i'd be a dog person but the girlfriend insisted that our house wasn't a home without one so Vegas happened:

    Vegas_zps6747f338.jpg

She's now about 14 weeks old and is a Fox Red Labrador Retriever apparently. Very impressed with how quickly she's picked things up and she's always so alert. Damn cute at times but also one of the most annoying bits of my life. I'd say it's a love-disappointment relationship because I never hate her but it is disappointing to find yet more poo...

  12. Its it just stuck on with 3m double sided tape? I'm looking to do mine, but it doesn't really stand out that much with the surround as my Z is black already

Right now it's using some double sided sticky foam strips which I heated up with a hairdryer to hopefully get it stuck properly. Only really need to worry about the rain wearing them away because it's definitely stuck fast, will buy some proper number plate tape if it ends up coming off.

Bet you would be pleased with the change, mine was more grey with age so I can imagine against your black paint it looks pretty dull and faded unless you use a lot of Back to Black?

  13. I've done some 'drifting' at Oulton Park in my previous car (SX). Did 2 days which were a sort of introduction to it all where they keep wetting 2 small tracks meaning you don't really use that much rubber, but then you aren't really drifting and just controlling slides until the track dries up some.

If you've not done any sideways stuff before I would definitely recommend this as your starting point. I think it was Drift One that hosted the days I did.

  14. Thanks for all the welcomes, looks like a very active forum.

Welcome mate! Lovely looking cars :) bet it was hard to say goodbye to the sx?

Looking forward to seeing what you do as you look like the type of guy who likes to mod :D

It was a pretty difficult decision, in the end it was a lot more sense financially to make the switch. I took the SX from standard to 'Stage 1a' with a lot of further supporting mods including brakes and boost control, along with the wheels and coilovers of course.

So yeah I guess I do modify, although this car is so much more at stock than I ever imagined it would be. For now there's a few small things that I want to clean up and perfect, then i'll be in the market for some wheels.

Welcome Buddy, I got my Z two day's ago, you will love it.

Looks like we both made a good choice huh, hope both our 350s are good to us :D

Welcome along :) we can help with the rear washer pump just drop me a PM

    Ewen

Ah thanks, will be in touch.
