  1. Thanks Alex. I have dropped you a PM. Please let me know if you don't get it, as I'm not used to using this forum!
  2. Hi. I'm based in Warwickshire. I don't have a picture of my actual wheel on me at present (I'm at work and the car is parked up at home), but the "Track 1" reference came from this article: http://www.350z-tech.com/wiki/index.php?title=Wheel_Specifications#Track_18.22_v.1 as that seems to be what I have. Given the choice I would rather just buy the one replacement, assuming I can get it to match. I don't want to have to muck around with insurance declarations and quite like the look of the wheels I have. If I have to buy a set, then so be it, but I'd rather not as there's no point in having 7 wheels when the car only needs four!
  3. Hi I went for new tyres at the weekend and the fitter pointed out that a weld on a crack in my front alloy had failed, and a crack around an inch long had reappeared. I drove home very gingerly and am now looking for a replacement, but it seems as though the silver 18" Rays (Track 1) are hard to find. So far I have managed to find one, requiring reconditioning, for £1200! Does anyone have any idea where I could find myself one (or even two) for a front wheel on a 2005 Zed? I'm not keen on the idea of getting a failed weld re-welded. All ideas gratefully received.
  4. Sure. We're in the Northwest corner of the county, almost into Worcestershire, so access out places is easy, with a short hop to the M42, M5, M40, etc
  5. Nope - she uses a blackberry. For exactly that reason. She has the cold dead hands of a killer, I reckon. Just as well that I love her, eh? She's specified buttons on the stereo, so buttons is what she's getting. I might try and get her to take on my ipod classic, and keep that up to date with all her music, that way she has it all to hand. I think she likes the simplicity of a Cd that she can chuck in and know what she's going to get.
  6. Hehe, Ebized, we've got to keep something that will fit all 3 of us! I've been mighty tempted by a 240Z in the past, so wouldn't rule it out always. She's a much faster/better driver than I am, as well, so will likely maintain her grip on the wheel for as long as she wants. We compete in local motor club events, and long experience has taught us that her driving and me navigating is a much more competitive combo than the other way around! The meet would have been great, 14N, but we're at Brooklands that weekend for the Autumn motorsport day (going down the night before to hook up with my family - my great grandfather used to race at the circuit). Still, I'm sure we'll make it along to a meet at some point. Thanks all for the very warm welcome!
  7. Ahhh, that's good info 14N. She doesn't have steering wheel controls (except for the cruise control), so I don't have to worry about that. 350Ad, it's odd, but touchscreens just don't seem to respond at all well to her. I've tried her with multiple touch screen phones that I've owned, and they only seem to register her press 50% of the time. I can understand why she feels frustrated with them. I'm really struggling to find a head unit that incorporates an in-dash multichanger (I'm assuming that a seperate multichanger box is going to be a PITA to install space-wise) and USB, so she may have to live without the former. Why she wants both I'm not entirely sure, but she does.
  8. Ah. I'm guessing that we'll be best looking to go for something newer. The missus had USB in her scooby and, despite being a bit of a luddite, seemed to like it. I might look to get her something basic with USB.
  9. Cool, thanks. I guess that the first step is to pop the touchscreen out and take a look to see what's happened behind there, then take it from there. What's the stock stereo like in terms of quality and function?
  10. We're in Warwickshire and aren't adverse to the occasional meet. We've got a 4 year old daughter though, which means that it'll likely be on the infrequent times that we can blag babysitting. Still, if you don't mind a Rex intruding on the Zeds, then we could always bring both cars and the lil girl.
  11. Hi all, Just a quick hello. My missus has just bought herself a 2005 sunset orange roadster, which she already loves. We're both long term petrolheads, and she's coming from a classic shape Impreza to the Zed, which she chose over a Boxster and a Corvette (though she was mighty tempted by a 400bhp C4). I run a Mazda RX-8 (insert oil consumption/unreliability/lack of torque jokes here ) and am moderately active within the owners club. She's not a big fan of internet forums, so it's my job to look after this end of things, so will be around from time to time to ask idiot questions. Having had a quick drive of the Zed, i think that ownership is going to be a pleasure. The exhaust bark under hard acceleration is addictive! She's already describing it as "the best car I've ever driven", which given some of the stuff she's driven in the past, on the road and on track, is pretty high praise indeed. Anyway, hi, and here's to long happy ownership. Cheers, John
  12. Hi all, A bit of a strange one this. My missus has bought a lovely orange roadster, UK 2005 with the GT pack (I think). It has a Kenwood DNX5220BT touchscreen system, which does nav, music, bluetooth, etc. Thing is, she hates sat nav and hates touchscreens. So, being as I'm the "technical one" she's asked me to sort a replacement. Given that she has the bose speakers, etc; I'm presuming that the harnesses to convert the inputs and outputs correctly have already been installed. With that in mind, is it likely to be as simple as taking out the touchscreen and replacing with another double DIN unit? Are the converter harnesses universal, or should I be looking at getting her another Kenwood? Would it be worth trying to return the system to the original one? What's the stock system like? Also, originally it would have had a 6 CD multichanger, correct? If so was that built into the headunit or a seperate box somewhere? Apologies for all the questions, I'm just trying to get a handle on the best way forwards. Many Thanks, John
