  1. Hi there, tired of tripping over these in the garage after selling the Zed last year.

For sale, set of Concept One CSL 5.5 alloys, matt black spokes with gloss black rims. Tyres are Kumho Ecsta KU39.

    Fronts are 19x9 ET30 with 245/35 tyres 6mm tread.

    Rears are 19x10.5 ET20 with 275/35 tyres 5mm tread.

Wheels have a dish that is tricky to photograph, best google a picture for a better idea of what they look like.

Rims have seen a curb or two and have been touched up, see pics. 2 nearside wheels worse than other 2.

Tyres in good order, one has a small knick in the side rim protecter bit.

Did have the metal tyre valves fitted but those started to bubble the paint and leak. Had them replaced with rubber ones and paint touched up, you can't really see them cause they're on the inside.

See my post 'harros basic build' for more pictures.

Looking for £600, collection from York.

  2. Hello there,

Not sure what I'm thinking is a repair or a bit of a botch, but gonna try something.

This is the rear arch after been parked up for a while.

Not good, so took bumper off to see how far rust has gone.

Not good underneath, couple of holes. Here's after some cleaning.

What kind of treatment is recommended?

Rust stopper stuff, filler, blather in underseal?

    Any advice appreciated.

  3. Well it's been a while since I posted on here, quite happy with the mods to the Zed, so haven't done much else.

It's been parked up for winter, so with summer coming time for a check over and MOT. First thing I noticed was a blowing Y pipe. Having read posts regarding replacements I took a chance with an Ebay Japspeed. Given the low mileage the car does and that I'm always thinking about selling, the cheap option made sense.

Looking rusty underneath so undersealed at the same time. Tape round the cats is to stop the heat shields rattling.

Passed the MOT so time for a good clean and polish. Then noticed this.....

    http://DSC01634_zpskmamshwy.jpg

Grrrr, rusty rear arch. Not sure what I'm gonna do with this. Is a home fix possible, rust repair, filler and paint, or is it a new panel job?

Ah well, forget about that for a minute and go for a drive. Errrmmm, that tyre looks a bit flat only pumped it up last week. Found a leak around the metal valve and peeling paint and the start of corrosion.....

    http://DSC01635_zps2l8bqnqv.jpg

Got all four valves replaced with rubber ones and touched up the paint. In the meantime had to fit the Rays....

Car feels better with these on, until it rains. On the rear are the Lassa Impertus tyres that came with the car when I got it. Absolute garbage in the wet, I know why Lassa sponsor drifting. The new valves seem to be holding pressure so will be swapping wheels over soon.

Apart from these issues it's good to be driving the Zed.

  4. Ah..........would be interested in the plastidip if that's what you choose. I kept my Rays for winter, but they're fitted with Lassa tyres that aren't good in the wet. Swapping decent tyres for poor ones when the weather gets worse doesn't make sense. But then buying a set of winter tyres for a car I don't use that much doesn't make financial sense. Coating new wheels could be the answer.

  5. Taking some hols from work so on with the mods. Had a slight squeal from the brakes and wasn't really impressed with the braking performance so ordered a full set of Mtec discs and Mintex pads. Also while car is jacked up time to fit clear reflectors.

Well brakes are on, fairly straight forward, followed the 'how to' for the fronts, very helpful. Only tricky bit was undoing the rear caliper bolts, suspension arms and handbrake cable made it tight for room. One thing I did notice was that all 4 old inside brake pads where tight to get out, wedged into the caliper and half the thickness of the outside pads  . Not sure how that would effect braking. Had to give the calipers a good clean and file to get the new pads to fit and move freely.

Happy with the finished job, reflectors on as well. Will see how good the brakes are when bedded in, although not sure how best to do that.

  6. I went for KU39's when I needed tyres for new 19's. Paid £150 each fitted for rears from local tyre place. For the fronts found it cheaper to buy online, get delivered and mobile fitted. Decent ratings and happy with the Kumho's, a lot better than the Lassa's that the dealer fitted when I bought the car with standard wheels, which I'll be using as winter wheels.

  7. I keep meaning to post a mini review of the Halfords cover. My car lives in the street; it's not a busy road but the Nismo gets so much attention I started worrying it could attract the wrong sort of attention (e.g drunk idiot late at night with key sort of attention). I also got sick of spending hours cleaning the previous 370s and them being mucky again in half an hour, so I gave the Halfords cover a try when I got the Nismo - Large size fits it well.

I had a debate with my other half, as she reckoned it might increase the attention. In fact, it's been the exact opposite - nobody ever looks twice at it and there's no sign that anyone has ever tried to lift the cover. I also love being able to wash the car, cover it and have it nice and clean next time I want to drive it. As long as you make sure the car is clean before the cover goes on you should have no problem with the paintwork - I've been using it for six months now and have seen no evidence of it marring the paintwork. I had to make a window for the tax disc and resident's permit - bought some clear vinyl off Amazon and sewed it in.

As Coldel says, it doesn't take long to get used to putting it on. The plastic buckles on the Halfords cover are a bit rubbish so I just cut them off and use what's left of the straps to tie around the alloy spokes - works perfectly.

I would always use a cover now, even if we had off street parking - it was £50 well spent, even if you end up replacing them after a year or so.

    Cover_zps8fa4bd1c.jpg

Is that on inside out? Had a green Halfords cover on previous cars, found it trapped moisture under it. Which I believe isn't good for paintwork. Used a separate sheet under the cover to kind of soak it up.

  8. Well got the fronts on now, was gonna have to wait another two weeks for my local tyre place to get KU39s I wanted.

Had a look on Tyreleader last week, in stock, arrived yesterday and about £40 cheaper per tyre. Had a mobile tyre fitter, Hometyre, come today at work to fit them. Would recommend. Bit pricy but took good care of wheels and saves time lugging wheels around. Saved cash as well, think I'll be getting all future tyres online.

    Couple of pics

Very pleased with the fitment, after reading another thread on the site I was slightly worried. Had the wheels on before without tyres but hard to tell how it would look.

If interested, fronts are 19x9 ET30, rears are 19x10.5 ET20.

That's probably it for now with the mods. Insurance company has an admin fee for any alterations/mods. Will probably look into buying stuff when I can and fitting it all at once to avoid multiple admin fees. Need to do something with the back bumper, diffuser maybe. But happy with mods so far..........

  9. Fitted mine last week and loving it just the same. Especially like the burbling when given a blip of throttle.

Around 1k - 2k is where the ‘drone’ happens, only with your foot on the throttle too so it’s easy enough to avoid,

Know what you mean about avoiding any drone. Slight pressure on the throttle and it's ok.

  10.

I always find a bit of Plus Gas Releasing Fluid helps on seized nuts and bolts, touch wood I haven't had one snap or get stuck yet using this it really does work.

Yeah just tried the usual WD, started to round off the nut and bend the bracket. Ah well, all done, as long as I don't want to go lower :)

Got exhaust on, went for non res, loving the burble when given a blip of throttle.

    file-17.jpg"]http://file-17.jpg[/url]

Having to wait on matching front tyres, on back order should be here in a couple of weeks.

  11. Hey just found your build thread, looking good. Any hints on the wheels.....?

Cheers mate :) One little hint...I'm guessing you'll like the style of them with your F1 pic ;)

    Interesting, 13" with massive tyres?

Shame you have to wait, nothing worse. I wasn't really in a rush for mine, but still wanted them ASAP.

  12. Well had a grueller today, car fought me at every turn, but front springs are on. Couldn't shift either nut that holds the brake pipe to the shock. In the end had to change the springs with the shocks still in the wheel arch.

    file-16.jpg"]http://

Bit tricky but all done :)

New exhaust arrived yesterday so set about stripping the old one. Got it off, had to hacksaw the nuts off. Just left with the bolts stuck in the Y section. They seem well rusted in, called it a day, will have a bash tomorrow.
