I appreciate all your comments, but I actually like the car, it is very very clean apart from the tyres and crossmember, the crossmember issue is going to be fixed hopefully anyway.

What do you make of this?
"Without doubt I understand your situation and again re iterate we are happy for you to bring the car to us for inspection, the car passed our tests and processes and as such we have no evidence of any issues that would relate to "merchantable quality or fit for purpose".
We have previously offered to collect with a view to inspecting the previously unseen paintwork issue you mention and the hanging wire and leave you a courtesy vehicle which you declined. We agreed for West Way Nissan to replace a part as you declined to bring the vehicle back for a cross member replacement which showed cosmetic damage only. We then offered a full refund, as we consider the vehicle purchased was of merchantable quality. We would have no issues in stocking this vehicle with a view to re-sale of the vehicle, and this was not offered due to any defects or issues other than you felt unhappy with the car which you declined.
In short we are covering our obligations and your decision to purchase the vehicle from us bears no relation to distance required to travel, should you feel any issues occur. Trading standards are there to protect Retailers / Consumers and offer advice and we would not object to any of our customers using this facility to gain an insight into consumer rights or the sales and provision of goods and services."

Yeah and they are trying to make out there is nothing at all wrong with the car... unacceptable.. This is the worst expereience I have ever had from a dealer.. It was supposed to be a nice surprise for my girlfriend when she came back from hospital after an operation.. now I just feel shafted and I am in the motor trade myself.. never felt so frustrated.

to the forum. This is just another example of shocking service from a Nissan dealership - which I take it is not an HPC - name and shame them and in your next email mention you are a member on here then proceed to flag them up to Nissan HQ too
Not a high performance centre no, god forbid they get their hands on a GT-R!

If I don't get a reply and my new front tyres soon then I will be telling everyone who they are.. bunch of ******* that's for sure.
If you do get lucky and they replace the tyres, make sure they dont replace them with mega nasty ones. They should all be the same make front/back else the traction control etc. can get upset.
Yep, I have told them that I would be happy with Vredestein ultrac sessantas for the front as I will no doubt be putting those on the back when the time comes.. as for ESP - I drive with it off when I'm on it.
Cheers for all the help guys!

Reply from said dealer after e-mailing them for new front tyres.
"We inspected the vehicle on the 29th Aug and inspected the tyres and noted the depth of each and reported no signs of abnormal wear, indeed on all test drives and final inspection no fault of drive or camber was noted.
As soon as I picked the car up I could hear a rumbling noise which has only gotten worse..
I have replied to this and awaiting outcome..

I'd be interested to know which dealer it was. I spoke to a few dealers over the last couple of months one of which was selling a car with the mileage yours has got. Sorry to hear about your troubles bud!

Yep, so it doesn't mean anything! Could have happened to most cars when they were a few years old.. car seems fine anyway a part from crossmember and a small dink on the rear bumper (which has been repaired properly)

Hi all, picked up my new toy on Saturday from a nice guy (username) daveparkin. Some of you know him and the car. What an example a real credit to him. (Night blue with frost leather). This looks like an awesome forum, looking forward to learning all the DIY tricks.
Cheers
Hello! I joined today, very nice car, I just bought a 313 in Grey , having a few teething problems, but looking to add a Gemini exhaust when it arrives next week, already fitted cosworth air filters... enjoy!!!
-
-
Also I cannot be expected to replace the tyres after only one week, I set aside money for mods, and could not embrace further costs at the moment. The tyres are original Bridgestones - RE50A's
-
I have inspected the car from underneath with the tray off.. the belt is like new still... no damage to sump or any other components that I can see.. I am fitting A gemini exhaust next week too.. and all components underneath look pretty good... I have also already fitted Cosworth air filters to it.
Just written another e-mail to the dealer and hoping for some kind of feedback, there is plenty of tread left in the tyre, but the inside edge is cupped - and I am pretty much saying to them that the tracking (aligment) was out, I have a printout.
-
-
Well he did see those faults and said that the vehicle was fit for purpose,.. I have that in writing.. (e-mail) I was not told about them however until I found out for myself. I am a self employed motor mechanic myself.

to the forum!
Did you get a vehicle inspection done? It might still be worth getting one done soon as (I think RAC do them) they're quite expensive but also extensive (my dad seems to swear by them anyway, he had one done on his C36 AMG before buying)
My thinking is. If they find other things wrong with it that's unlikely to have been caused in the week you've had it, that would also go in your favour in any claims you might need/want to make.
Yes, checked, it has no record of accident damage .. drives great too.. they say that the car was checked by a technician of 20 years at Nissan dealer and that it is fit for purpose...
Not sure what to do really, front tyres are original so it probably just needs the crossmember doing (already done alignement which was out) and new front tyres really.. as I said drives great and rear damage was just like a little prang in garage which had been repaired...

Hello!! and thanks for quick reply!
When I first test drove the car, I found the steering wheel to be off centre, so I asked the supplying dealer to do the tracking for me for when I picked up the car. They didn't do it, and as I had travelled 70 miles by train to pick it up I took the car away.
So, I had the car tracked (four wheel alignment) at my expense near where I live. It is then that I found the front crossmember had been hit at the front (fairly heavy) but it still tracked ok, however the camber on the right side is 1.3 degrees and 0.45 on the left. (1.3 is just outside tolerance)
Spoke to the Nissan dealer in question and after much trouble, got them to agree to have the crossmember replaced at my local Nissan dealer at their cost.
By the same token the front tyres are cupped on the inside which is making a rumbling noise (gets worse under braking)
The car has only done 15,000 miles and is pretty immaculate a part from this and the issue below.
The rear park sensor wires were touching the exhaust! I have now tied them out of harms way but noticed the rear of the car had been repaired. (ie rear bumper) there was still masking tape on it!
So my question is, where do I stand with the tyre and camber issue? I think it is reasonable to ask for new front tyres, but they don't appear to be very co operative at all. cheers
