Previous OEM pipe had completely split downstream of the flange, so I'm still getting used to driving without a) being deafened (the wrong way) and wincing at every pothole

Great guide - I replaced the stock sat nav with a shiny new phablet, which pipes music to the Bose. Hopefully it'll pay off the several hours of swearing in no time!

So I've got to step 9 of the original post, but for the life of me can't unplug the connector to the 3 gauges (below - I've got an HR if that makes a difference).

I've seen reference to a tab that needs pushing but can't feel one. Could someone do me a huge favour and explain in words of one syllable how to disconnect it? Hate not being able to see what I'm doing.

I had something similar once, turned out I'd plugged in a dodgy OBD reader and the OBD socket fuse had blown, which also covers the clutch switch circuit. The fuse is a 10A one behind the battery, FYI.

Just something to be aware of: I've got a cheap reader from ebay (transparent blue, can't remember the brand) and last time I tried it on the zed it (unknown to me) blew the obd socket fuse. Turns out the only other thing on that circuit is the immobiliser switch on the clutch - so the car was immobilised and I spent hours fault-finding a dodgy switch when I could have just replaced the fuse!

When I bought (with a mortgage) my flat last year the seller's mortgage company held onto the deeds for a few months, then sent them to me - I got the impression that everything is done digitally at the land registry, so the hardcopies don't matter so much these days.

And good luck finding a place that still offers safety-deposit boxes to store them!

I'm in the same position as codders in that I've only had the zed a few months (Portswood area), but I'd also be happy to meet up - away this weekend though.

I'm considering 'The Wheel Alignment Centre' in Southampton, although I haven't been able to get hold of them yet.

If I remember correctly it recommends jacking a couple of times with the valve open (and no load) to remove air in the system. Hth.

I was given one of these a couple of days ago and can recommend it. I particularly like the bent arm and swiveling 'receiver' for it (not sure of the correct name) - makes things a lot easier when you're trying to get at the rear jacking point from behind!

Hi everyone, been lurking for a while reading the (really helpful) buyers' guides and I'll finally be able to get a zed in the next few weeks! I'm looking for a low-ish mileage HR; hopefully I'll return soon with pics, but in the meantime hello and thanks for all the info.

PS if anyone was driving near Chilworth about a month ago - that exhaust tone made up my mind, so thanks!
