I just bought one new. £285 from Nissan.

My bonnet is suffering from corrosion along the front edge so I'm looking at replacing it.

Ideally I would like a HR bonnet but may settle for DE in gunmetal if it's good price and condition.

Iv had the same when reversing up hill on to my drive too

After 3k miles on my new clutch and lightweight flywheel I have begun suffering some slippage.

This first happened few weeks and a couple hundred miles ago when I went for a spirited drive and then the car was sat running for 20 minutes or so, as I drove off anything over 2.5k revs would slip. A few minutes later and it was fine. Next day I tried the clutch test by flooring it at low speed in high gear and no problems at all.

This weekend the problem reappeared when I stopped at motorway services on a hot day and when I set off same problem occurred.

It would appear to me as though something is overheating when stationary and once I get some air running through all is fine.

Has anyone experienced something similar or know what this could be?

I've also been considering a steam clean as I have oil everywhere underneath following my engine letting go. Just wondering if there's any potential problems I could encounter leaving it , should I get it cleaned ?

Finally after over 3 months my zed is back running. After pursuing my finance company and Evans Halshaw with no luck I bought a low mileage Revup motor from Clarke Motorsport along with a clutch and lightweight flywheel. Really excited to get taxed on Tuesday and hit the road again.

Great service from Ewen. Supplied a Low mileage Revup engine along with a competition clutch, lightweight flywheel and HkS filter.

Had a phone call today from a breakers yard in Leeds that have a solution;

2007 rev up engine still in the car,

35k miles,

full nissan dealer history.

all documents from insurance write-off

photos on their website of the car which was in a front end smash but no damage to the engine.

They say they will collect my car on the day from me, replace the engine and provide all compression tests etc, bring the car back or i can collect in 5 days. All this for £2500 with 3 months parts and labour guarantee.

So far this looks my best bet as all prices i have had so far only include supply of an engine for between 1500-3500.

Any thoughts?

After contacting the finance company they sent an independent mechanic to inspect the car. Here are his findings.

So it looks like I'm paying for this

Need some advice on buying a replacement engine though. Is there a proper way to go about it i.e. proof of mileage?

I'm from Saltburn in the north east. 20 minutes from Middlesbrough.

I will contact my finance company on Monday and see what they say. Getting someone to look at the engine and see what sort of damage has occurred and whether anything can be salvaged. I don't know whether a used engine would be best,I saw a revup fitted for £2100 with 25k on eBay and As far as I'm aware a HR engine doesn't fit into the '06 model. Anyone advise me on the rough cost of a rebuild?

Out of warranty, out of luck it appears. Seems like my only option is to find a new motor myself. Had a call from Evans Halshaw saying the cost of a new engine would be £13k 😬

The car was bought on finance so after I hear back from evans I will decide what to do next. I dropped the car with them this morning to investigate so hope to hear back soon.

Might I also add the car is completely standard to my knowledge

Yeah it's the newer revup

Bought my '06 zed in August from Evans Halshaw with 76k miles. So far had great service with them fixing every problem I could find such as headlight washers, air con, missing tow eye trim. They also skimmed the front discs due to vibration which came back so they replaced front discs and pads.

However, on Friday I set off to take a 4 hour journey down South and 10-15 minutes after leaving as I accelerated down a slip road... bang! Engine let go and sounded like I was driving over stones as debris hit the underside of the car. Pulled over in a cloud of smoke, oil everywhere. Next morning got underneath and there is a hole in the engine block.

The oil was checked and was mid way which is still visible on the dipstick. Only super unleaded has been used by myself. Evans had the car Mot and service before I bought it. (It also has FSH)

Mileage now at 79k

Unsurprisingly my 3 month warranty is out by a month so I await a call from Evans Halshaw with more information.

Anyone had this happen before? Or have any advice on where I should go from here regarding dealing with the garage? ðŸ˜
