Any update on the valuation buddy?!
I haven't heard anything back yet.
R35LEE, I'm glad you said that as I thought the clutch disengaged the cruise as well. A little more info on the crash:
The brake pedal wouldn't depress fully, would only depress about 20% and would not disengage the cruise, same for the clutch, would only depress about 20%, this did manage to slow the car down slightly as it let it coast but when I let the clutch back up the car would accelerate back to cruising speed. Neither the cancel or on/off button would turn the cruse off. Please note guys that this all happened in about 10 seconds, I was coming up to a 3 lane traffic jam, I always leave a massive gap in front off me so I calmly began to brake, and thats when the problems started. I had enough time to realise the brake/clutch weren't working properly and nothing would turn the cruise off, at this point I was in a runaway car and starred panicking, was only a few seconds from hitting a wall of cars, the inside lane was blocked by now so I couldn't get in to the hard shoulder to use the gears as brakes which would have been my next move. Scary stuff

Very low! Remember the Z's change price quite dramatically on colour.
Look for black ones only and send them over
I've just had a look now, they're all around the £9k mark, I only paid £7k for mine and only said the value was £7k when I insured it, do you think this makes a difference?
Doesn't make a difference mate. If you put 20k they aren't going to pay that out are they?
Send over the adverts with similair age and mileage and see what they come back with
Ah thanks a lot, just emailed them now.

This is no slur on you or your driving bit it's not unheard of for people to have cruise on. See a situation, react quickly but because their feet were off the pedals they're accidently gone onto the clutch mistaking it for the brake and then ploughed into somwthing. Crashing is never a nice feeling but the main thing is you are ok.
No slur taken, I always keep my feet on the pedals when I have cruise control on anyway, but this thought did cross my mind when the brakes weren't working, so I looked at my feet to make sure I was actually pressing the brake pedal, and I was.
No, everyone was alright.

Ah sorry, I meant it has 350z rays not the 370z, I've edited the original post.

IMO £7k is about right plus a grand for the 370 Rays if they were declared on your insurance.
Did you write it off or is someone else at fault and who is your insurer?
What happened?
Well this is another post coming, the cruise control would not turn off and the brakes would not work, I was stuck at 65 on the motorway with only a few seconds until I hit a traffic jam, I had to sort of thread the car through the cars in the outside lane and the central reservation to avoid a serious collision, thankfully the impact with the central reservation slowed the car down. The insurance conducted a investigation but couldn't find a fault with the car so they say it's my fault. Has anyone else had or know of anything like this happening?

is that their first offer? when my civic was written off i was offered £1000 at first, which i got increased to £2000, and then to £2100. get on auto trader and find some comparable mileage and condition cars as evidence, and then when you ring the insurer back make sure you say its pristine, low mileage, FSH, etc etc. hopefully get a bit more out of them!
'Was' pristine
Haha yeah.

Yeah it's their first offer, thanks, I'll try this.

They generally just go on sites like Auto Trader and get an average. How bad is the damage? Worth buying it back and fixing it up?
Damage is pretty bad, every panel on both sides need replacing, all wheels need repairing/fixing and the underside is probably damaged, its making knocking noises.
-
Take the 370 wheels off and sell them if you can - they will fetch a great price.
Unfortunately the zed is a costly car to run and maintain, depreciation will hit it hard and you will always lose money after your purchase, especially as we move closer to winter.
Thanks for the reply, the wheels are trashed unfortunately.

My beloved zed got written off and I'm just wondering how accurate the insurers valuation is? They've quoted £6,300. This seems a little low to me as I payed £7,000 for it 3 months ago and that seemed like a bargain at the time as another zed dealer was trying to buy it to sell it on.
Details about the car:
54 plate gt spec
black leather and black paint
350z rays alloys
full service history
50,000 miles.
It was in absolute pristine condition as well.

Hey guys, so I followed the the ipod hack guide to a t, did the stereo reset and the aux lead works (terrible sound, but thats a separate issue) but none of the stereo buttons work! I can turn it on, adjust the volume, load and eject a cd, but thats it! I can't select cd, tape or radio, cant adjust frequency or base settings or anything else, does anyone have any idea whats causing it? Have I basically destroyed my stereo with dodgy soldering?
-
Hey guys, I tried this and after doing the reset I got the aux cable working (absolutely awful sound, sounds like it's inside a can) but none of the stereo buttons are working! I can turn it on, adjust volume, load and eject a cd but no other buttons work at all, can't change radio channel, or select cd player or tape player. Any idea what could be causing it?
By the way, this is a fantastic guide, so though-rough.
-
Ahhh bummer, guess the ipod hack it is then. Crazy that the US and UK one have the same stereo face but the UK has one less socket.
-
Just so I've got this right. If I want an iPod hooked up to the stereo, I either have to do the iPod hack or buy a new head unit. However the US spec head units have an extra plug on the back that allow an iPod module like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XCARLINK-iPod-iPhone-for-NISSAN-350Z-Almera-Tino-Murano-Navarra-Note-SKU1187-/350509391614?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item519bfcdefe to be hooked up.
Have I got that right?
But I found this post on a forum - http://www.350z-tech.com/forums/120-audio-electronics/51341-works-ipod-integration-into-2003-factory-bose-w-navigation.html and that guy seems to have the same spec head unit as the UK. So would we just be able to use the same module he used?
-
Does it have the chassis number on little hologram stickers on the edges of body panels - i.e. inside boot, inside door shuts nr catch, underside of bonnet etc?
This is the easy way to tell if any panels have been replaced, as you can't replace these (without, I imagine some difficultly in sourcing replicas).
Ah I've checked. It's got all this stuff.
relief.

Crash repaired
@*!#! What if it has been crashed repaired, how would I check for this?
-
I'll post some pics of it in a few hours so you guys can see, and thanks for the warm welcome everyone

JDMS come with all extras if you order them from the factory... whats the number plate recess like, oblong or square?
May have been an early imported JDM by Nissan?
It's oblong.
-
I thought he said he didn't have the auto tilt feature..... Is it possibly a "euro" RHD import as opposed to JDM? I've heard of that on other marques
Ha yeah I did say it doesn't have the tilt down mirrors. Are these standard on JDM's?
I don't think its a euro import as it actually has warnings in Japanese on the sun visors.
-
What year is it, we've seen a similar on a 52 plate before...
It's also got a factory fitted alarm, with the flashing led light on the dash (drivers side). Is this standard on JDM's?
