Mine was a tiptronic auto and I loved it, plus none of the usual clutch problems.
Although, if you want an auto, it will have to be an import.

I don't think production numbers have any bearing on future classics, you try and buy a mk1 Cortina GT and you will get a shock.

+1 on above

I've had loads over the years and some are still going after 10 years!
Buy it if it looks good, its only a bit of fun, plus if you buy a real one people will say its a fake.

Ash, mine is an import so lets settle a few points:
1. Mine is a 2002 model, imported in 2007, and it's the lower tax bracket.
2. It has everything a UK gt has except cruise control.
3. If you shop around the insurance is no dearer.
4. The underneath is like new.
5. Mine had an "up-rev" so it is now capable of supposedly 170+ mph.
6. If you want an auto you have to buy an import

I got my front bumper sprayed by " Dragontek " in Oxfordshire, did a great job if slightly the wrong shade ( they only had the bumper ). Just Google them if your interested.

Yes mate, you can turn up when you like, but you might not get on the stand.

That's impressive

Mikevv, I rolled up late last year and I had no problems, although we ended up not having a dedicated Z stand for some reason.
