  1. I can not believe a so called mechanic/ technician (is what hey call themselves nowadays)? would even contemplate opening a rad cap after a car has been running , as for hard hoses, they will feel hard as they should be, im not sure about the Z but most will be holding around 10-14 lbs, to increase the boiling point of water. As for head gasket there are a couple of things that can be done other than the visual things you have been told about, when i used to work in motor industry, there were some dye tests that were carried out on a sample of water taken from your cooling system, looking for high hydrocarbons in the water which can only get there from engine gasses,

Another thing i used to see, was a sniffer test from a exhaust gas anayliser, they used to hold it above the rad cap , run the engine upto temp untill thermo opened, and the probe could pick up hydrocarbons as the water circulated. confirmed a good few that way in my old times. it may be completly different now tho and may not work , oh how i miss old school mechanics/ engineering :p i

  2. I have just renewed my insurance through admiral on thier multicar discount added my mods, exhaust, induction kit and audio upgrades and came back with £240, only conditions are that if the car needed repair they would only cover for replacing original parts back and not cover anything higher than the original value, which i could live with, then added my missus as a driver and listed i myself as driver on hers and its come down to £188, not complaining about that.

  3. My son has one of these 135I flappy paddle gearbox ( he is in the army and has tooo much money), and it is very quick, he has the convertable version, he cant leave my 350z standing but it is def quicker in the straight line, not much diff in weight but being a convertable body flex makes it move a lot in corners and i dont feel as confident in corners as i do in the 350z, but the flappy paddle shift is very quick and seamless

  5. I am looking for the Z thats stuck to the boot of my Zed (or isnt in my case now) the satin type as its a uk car, because some lovely little B**&&d :boxing: has decide to remove mine, I have asked Alex but he has none, he also got me a price £60 :scare: , from Nissan now thats exploitative, so if anyone has a spare happily buy it from them.

  6. I had those ditchfinders on my Z when i bought it too in Jan , i didnt check what the dealer was putting on as part of the deal when buying , got carried away with the thought of owning a Z,, but as i bought it from a sports car specialist i didnt even think they would have put such crap on. I didnt notice it for the first 10 days or so as i was cautious and finding out about the car, then my first twitch on a roundabout in the wet, less than 20mph with reverse camber and it stepped out , just got more nervy after that, and the fact that the traction kept kicking in under mildest of pull aways and the fronts constantly activating the abs, under moderate braking , i lasted 3 weeks before getting hold of new wheels with falkens on even with around 4mm tread it totally changed the handling and confidence in the car , really started to enjoy it and the twitchy bits went away, even to the extent that sometimes i push it on purpose when having a blast, its so predictable before it starts to lt go and a bit of lift off and it comes right back into line, when it does.

  7. I was there this morning in the car park ,it was the Sunset one Benjy88 saw, always get in that car park if you get there early enough, before 8am will normally get you in there, even if your not themed they let you in if your car looks the part, much to my sons disgust. This morning he followed me and a few from our local club in through the main entrance, Z, 2 x rx8`s, mx5 and an old school golf gti, with him in his landy and, he got turned away and told to park in the public area further down the road, he was not happy

I have had 2 of my cars on the grid in the last 3 years , normally you have to get an invitation, from when you register interest, but if your early enough and have the right car you can still get on the grid if the marshalls on the gates think its suitable or you get sent to the paddock area, hoping to get the Z on this year i registered same day as the dates were announced for the sushi sunday
