  1. Yes. But this might be because it was touching the diff. I intend to drive it a bit and decide. I just want a better sound, not a louder one!
  2. Interesting. My agreement paperwork is very clear about who is liable for the charges and it ain't me! They pursue the TP for the charges, and in the event they don't pay then there is a policy in place to protect me from any liability, actually this cost is also covered by the TP so no charge for that to me. I also also spoke with them on the phone yesterday and verified again that there's no comeback to me on the charges. Which is all good, because with £15k to spare I'd buy another 'Z and make it into a superlight project car!
  3. Thinking about resonated test pipes, I sent a note to the technical support team at Motordyne asking whether they fit the Auto without bending and cutting. Here's the response:
  4. It simply stopped sending a spark signal to one of the cylinders. 6 I think. Possibly water damage from when I took the car through the winter floods in 2013 or maybe just a random thing. Never did get to the bottom of why it failed nor how it was repaired. This made me understandably nuts.
  5. So what should mine make on standard pully 350 Quite a lot more. That's all I cared about. Final number, meh! Who cares beyond the upward trend! 59% increase in power or 46% both are crazy
  6. Agreed. It dynoed at 306 before and 488 after though so the increase is where it's at! This was the original before and after (PDF): Dyno before and after - pdf, includes AFR too. This was the updated tune after he did more work on it after the ECU was repaired: http://370zgt.tumblr.com/post/90773122906/the-repaired-ecu-is-back-in-and-with-some-tlc
  7. I'd take that discount! Before the mods my insurance was £380/year on the Z and the Golf on admiral multi car (I have 10 years no claims etc.) even with my high mileage. After the mods all declared its £680 with an underwriter found by Adrian Flux. A bump for sure but not crazy. At renewal I need to go for an "agreed value" policy as its otherwise hard to ensure the right level of cover for the mods and work done to install them. That way you declare a value, a loss adjuster assesses the car then you agree on a value. Better protection in the case of an accident - as without this there is a risk of total loss, and only getting back market value for the car plus the (heavily depreciated) mods. Out of pocket on labour and other bits.
  8. Not sure. I told him not to run the car till it had the updated torque tables applied. If anyone knows Uprev please correct me but I understand that without the ROM file that Norris produced he's starting from scratch. This means that he'll have to do a base map, add the transmission stuff then start mapping the car. So because it's not safe to blat the car until the transmission is tuned: no baseline run. Not overly bothered though, it's the end result I care about not willy waving stats!
  9. Hertz supercar rentals suggests similar prices for a Boxster S (though I only put in a week). They didn't have a regular Boxster. £900 a day is McLaren 12C and Ferarri 458 Italia territory. Crazy!
  10. I know you're not having a dig - I'm in agreement that the industry is a mess. I really enjoyed driving that car, but I also had a blast in Simon Norris' K11 Nissan Micra!
  11. These guys have always had the basic info on the incident. Time, date, location, number of parties. Two calls to me, two to my wife. One claimed to be from ULR Additions, who handle the claim on behalf of Adrian Flux. I spoke with ULR afterwards and the agent there told me he'd heard of this happening more and more. I personally wonder if they have a problem with data security.
  12. Priority 1: It's all about reliability and longevity. Cooling and a better tune. 2: That diff! Get the power down and whohoo! 3: Sound. The exhaust I would be happy with less power, actually because I'd rather 10% less and a happy car for longer than push the limits. Boost is addictive, remember.
  13. I'm surprised at the cost. You wouldn't believe how many personal injury claim BS calls we've had to deal with. My wife and I both recipients of unsolicited calls from companies who have obtained enough info about the incident to ask us whether we would and indeed hard sell the injury claim. We both believe this is abhorrent behaviour which is not at best for the wider good so have told them exactly where and why to stick it. I maintained throughout the claim that I am not insured to get all I can, but to be covered to get things returned to before the incident and a similar experience whilst I'm inconvenienced by the repairs. That's fair. What's surprising is the high cost of the rental car, as those are retail rates. The insurance industry needs a good shake up. "Guevara" has an interesting model that seems worthy of further interest.
  14. Word from Jez: "Fan is on*, plugs are in, diff is done, oil cooler fitted, drive line checked, ARB drop links are ok, exhaust fitted properly, oil pan spacer fitted" * I'm experimenting with a 6.5" Tripac fan attached to the standard Stillen HX. It might help at low-medium speeds and possibly get in the way at high speeds but we shall see. It's set to run permanently rather than on a thermostat. Once I have learned more about the brackets and other fun with the Frozenboost then I'll swap it out. Jez is working on the map. Whohoo!
  15. Just a minor thread revival as I've received a note from Accident Exchange about the claim. Now then, who would hazard a guess as to how much having a Porsche Boxster 2.7 PDK for 55 days cost the third party? My guess was a bit lower than the real answer. Quite a bit lower, in fact. They're billing the TP for £15,000 for the hire period. That's around £273 a day. SHISHKEBAB THAT'S A LOT!!!
  16. One week without my car and I've detailed the wife's golf. "Fabsil gold" for waterproofing the canvas roof. Whilst I'm at it, Bilt Hamber's Finis Wax is superb—goes on easily, looks great and lasts a long time. I also highly recommend their clay bar which needs only water to use, and the 'auto wheel' which makes cleaning wheels dead easy, and isn't as nasty as the other products out there.
  17. Oh great — MORE stickers! What do people do with all this stuff? I might give them to our 7 year-old, she likes stickers. She can have an Eibach and Quaife sponsored scooter
  18. Good news: the replacement dipstick has arrived from SuperchargersOnline.com Bad news: it was £13.99 customs, VAT and handling fee (£8 for the post office, the rest to the treasury.) All the more reason to be super careful with your Vortech V-3 supercharger when you check the oil. * Use a T-handle 3/16" hex key * Hand tight only. * Undo it when it's warm (the fluid can be checked hot or cold). Peace out.
  19. 550hp or so. He has an upgraded impeller on the supercharger and a 10lb pulley. I have 9lb. Lower is safer. Do you have the standard 8lb one?
  20. spending most evenings doing just that the missus hates it "Whatcha doing? Car stuff?" Is something I hear quite a lot lately. :-/
  21. A helpful gentleman in Switzerland who is active on the US forum has a Stillen SC car pushing big power (and broke a cylinder), anyway - he has some good photos of his cut and machined crash bar to accommodate the Frozenboost — forum linkage here: http://www.the370z.com/showthread.php?p=2702531 http://www.the370z.com/showthread.php?p=2748914 http://www.the370z.com/showthread.php?p=2922814
