Sorry to harp on about the seats, but are them manual or electric? I just spent ages on the nissan site trying to find out...
Quite taken by the black ex-demo nismo on auto trader right now... although I cant buy for another month and a half...
-
or maybe the map adjusts for the petrol over time .. then with a different one doesnt respond as well..

How do the seats compare? I keep seeing they are cloth seats with no heated elements. Now I don't care about the heated seats (I use them once a year for novelty), but going from my nice leathers/alcantra to cloth seems a bit of downgrade?
Other than that I'm lovin the nismo... and probably gonna sort one out this xmas...

There are any number of cars in that price range. I'd realistically be basing it on running costs. Not fuel costs, but actual ownership costs.
Also, at 24k per year I'd want something comfortable, screw the performance! If I wanted that I'd spend 20k on a barge and 10-15 on a weapon!
Now that's an interesting idea, but I did consider this before - looking at my company car scheme for the barge and the 370 as the fun.
The problem is - I quite enjoy driving. So saving the fun car for the weekend doesnt really work for me. Using it every day isnt a chore for me, it's great!
Yes, running costs are more important than fuel - thats one reason why the Camero made it onto my original list - it would be brand new under warranty (as would a 370). It's also the worry about getting something out of warranty...
Missus did give a "go for it" when looking at a '09 R35 just now.. so it may be game over ...

Yes, reading that thread.
XK: Possibility
Vantage: scary reliability/running costs
R35: running costs again
VXR8: Had been thinking about this..
-
theres a thread on here that was very recent all about what you'd buy with £35k have a browse through that as it covers most interesting ideas. I'd be looking for out of warranty style cars, alot more bang for your buck. DB9, Vantage, maserati grandsports/grandturismos, TVR's, porsches, jaguar XKRs
Well I was trying to stay sensible as I need it as a daily driver - doing 24k a year. But I guess I failed ..
-
hmm.. just seen a 2006 Aston Martin Vantage for 38k.... anyone know the practicalities of it as a daily driver? I imagine: costly...
-
4+ cyl, RWD/AWD ideally, might consider FWD.
Engine anywhere, MPG > 30 on motorway
Running costs approximate same as 370 or less
Something that looks good...
Really just scouting for ideas - for a daily driver is there anything a bit older that is worth getting? Any crazy ideas I hadnt considered? etc
Doing the normal searches through ebay/autotrader/car homepages etc..
thanks

Dont mind if 4 or 2 doors. However not keen on BMWs ..
Yes, new boxster might be pushing it a little.
TT's are also out for me...
Have considered the whole ST/VXR line... but feels like a step down...
I'm fussy, i know...

So my 370z was stolen, I'm looking at around 25k back from that, and could stretch another 10k to 35k.
I need a daily driver, doing 100 miles a day, so something reliable. I have no kids, and have another 4 door car so dont need space.
Keen on pre reg deals (my 370z was an ex demo) to get price down.
Been looking at:
New Porsche Boxster
Camero (might cost too much in fuel there...)
Evo X
WRX STi
Don't like:
GT86/BRZ
Any suggestions? The 35k is a hard limit. I'd prefer something that is under warranty and wont break down.
I'm just trying to get some ideas... of course the option of another 370z is there and there isnt much (if anything) that looks as good for the price..

Anyone know if the "only 23 in the country" is accurate or how to check?
If did occur to me that the whole of Bristol now knows there is a rare car on my road - if I get it back how long until it is nicked again

I feel strangely proud:

Thanks for the continued support...

More info - just got back and seen all the damage.
The car has chrome gecko/lizard badge on the back - so if you see a White GT Edition with that or silver wheels then that is the one.
Also found out that they went through the house until they found both sets of keys. They stole lots of things they found while searching for the keys, but left without doing a "proper job" if you know what I mean..
Looks like it was stolen to sell on somewhere...

I live in Bristol and will keep an eye out for it.
I've put your reg in my phone.
What area was it stolen from.
I hope you get it back.
North Bristol - near MOD Abbey Wood.
Thanks!

Not contacted insurance yet - I'm still out of the country - any tips on dealing with insurance? Ive never had to claim before...
And thanks for the support everyone..!

My car was stolen last night while I'm on holiday. It's a white 370z GT Edition, with standard wheel (rather than the dark alloys). They ransacked the house to get the keys.
Reg is CE61 VCJ. It was stolen in Bristol. If you see it around please call the police straight away - or alternatively run the f**kers down...
I'll let you know if/when it is recovered..
Here's a pic of it.

I agree - that's shockingly bad service and you shouldn't accept it
I haven't - I have contacted Nissan and they have opened a case and promised to get back back to me today.
But strangely it hasn't squeaked at all since picking ti up from the garage. Now that is suspicious - it appears after the service, squeals every day, then after taking it back in and they "do nothing", it stops completely.
Very suspicious..
-
Mine are the same....
And you just put up with it?
-
I don't get that. As there is no way you would have needed new pads with that mileage (and I hope you were not charged for any), so it should have been a simple visual check as part of the 'service'. So quite why it started happening after the 'service' is baffling.
The only thing I can think of is that they washed it - and Ive seen them using a pressure washer before (i didnt see them actually wash mine). Can a badly used pressure washer cause problems? Can it blast out the grease, or jam grit in there?
I find it really suspicious timing - but it is possible it is just coincidence...
-
Mine started squeaking straight after it's first service at 5k miles (as in, on the way home). The noise is awful and a safety issue as when it happens the natural reaction is to lift your foot off the brake.
I have borne it for a month thinking it might fade .. but it's slowly getting worse.. so I took it to Wessex Garages in Bristol to be looked at under warranty (the same place I got it serviced).
They admit the noise is awful and frustrating, but according to them since the brakes still work they don't have to do anything. They then offered to grease the brakes for £150 - without guaranteeing that would help. Awful service.
Have just got off the phone to Nissan - they promise to get back to me within 48hrs.
<edit>
The bit that really annoyed me was the response from them that "cars just make this noise sometimes"..

A 370 driving north on M5 at the turn off for Cribbs, then 1 min later a 350 at Cribbs. Does the fog bring them out?
-
Looks really good there.
Plus, is that Mr T driving?

I think the USB ipod connection only came in with connect premium in 2010.. but i may be wrong.
Mine's a 2011 connect premium and has the usb in the armrest.
