  1. A cleaner link to the additional photos on Picasa - https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink

With these photos I've been overly critical trying to either:

a - find little imperfections e.g. kerbing, stone chips, minor parking dents etc...

    OR

b - highlight the general condition of an area, where I have found other Z's to be more worn out. I.e. gear knob, dash, drivers interior pull handle etc.

  2. Hey Welcome!

I insured my Zed for around £380 with Admiral in the past, and more recently so £350 with ESure. There are also some good cashback deals available via Quidco that can sometimes tip the scales a little in your favour. Well worth taking a look.

I also have a Zed for sale in the classifieds. Its a 2004 UK car. No mods apart from the aux cable to allow you to play your Ipod etc via the Bose stereo. Feel free to come take a look even if you dont decide to buy :)

  3. Hmm- majorty of the websites selling GAP insurance do look to be farms, flats, rented office space etc. But being FSA regulated, I would have thought it is safe buying from them?

I have found there are a handful of providers who sell GAP insurance underwritted by Lloyds of London, so you are fully covered by the FSCS. They are competitively priced too.

Gibraltar based ones are apparently also covered under a similar EEA scheme, but you need to get confirmation of complaints procedures etc from them as the level of compensation etc may vary.

  4. FSA covers the UK based brokers... but it does not cover the EU based underwriters.

It looks like Gibraltar based firms are regulated by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission..

Actually, looking at this a bit more, pretty much all underwriters are based in Gibraltar... including Admiral etc...

So I'm guessing it is something to do with the local tax laws?

Ooh.. this article might help explain it...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/2843209/Insurers-flock-to-Gibraltar.html

  5. Right - so recently I bought a 2012 VW Sharan from a VW dealer. he was trying to sell me GAP insurance for around £400... I've had quotes online for £190ish.. so politely declined.

He then went on to say that 'other' GAP insurance providers are underwritten by an underwriter who is based in Gibraltar... and there is a risk they can 'fold', dissapear with everyone's insurance payment and leave you without cover.... where as the VW policy is underwritten by VW itself...

I thought "what a load of Porkies"... but last night when I checked out all the policies on line (even from The AA) are underwritten by a firm in Gibraltar...

So, part one of his sales squaak was true.... but is it true they could do a runner with our cash and leave us without any protection??

Can anyone here provide a qualified statement on how much protection we (UK consumers) have against off-shore/EU based underwriters dissapearing?

  6. Welcome!

An EP3 is something I'd like... but cant justify it till my Accord dies...

    Enjoy the Ring!

I last went in 2011 when I totalled my mk3 VR6 there... I then calculated that it is cheaper (and less risky as insurance covers you in the event of hitting somone else) to crash a rented Swift!

Other than that - it is always good fun out there :-)

  7. My wife and I have enjoyed this 350Z since Feb 2012, and are selling as we are expecting twins in October!

Strangely we are unable to get 2 baby seats into the back of our Honda Accord when I have the driving seat in my driving position (I'm 6ft 2inches, 6ft of me is legs with 2 inches of torso)... hence we have had to buy a twins + tall dad friendly car. We are keeping the Accord hence the Z is for sale. I just cant justify a 3rd car that would not get used enough.

I'm looking for £6490, which I think is a very fair price considering how honest the car is. I looked at many examples before buying this one, and I paid a fair bit more for it at the time as the condition was that much better. I will consider sensible offers.

    First registered: 29th July 2004

Standard UK GT Spec + the optional extra of rear parking sensors.

    Blade Silver.

    Full service history (see below)

Run on 98Ron Shell Optimax(Vmax) / Tesco Momentum.

Kept garaged most of the time

    Bluetooth hands free.

    Bose sound system.

    All factory stickers in place.

    HPI clear.

    Front mats.

    All paperwork/history available.

Jan 2013 = P3+ service (3k miles ago) see details below.

Sept 2012 = 4 new tyres + Hunter laser alignment - still like new (4k miles ago).

Tax till end of Dec 2013.

MOT till 16/09/2013, I will arrange for a new MOT prior to sale.

    I have all 3 keys (2 x key/alarm + 1x valet) and the key code tag.

Original leather Nissan 350Z document wallet, service book, manual.

Totally standard apart from the Bose 'hack' (3.5mm jack plug) added for Aux in - phone, Ipod etc. The CD player does not work (will not accept CD's) but the Radio, Aux-in and tape player have been enough to keep me entertained.

Interior and body work is very clean for the age. This has been a 2nd car to both myself and the previous owner, with both owners keeping the car garaged, hence the condition. I've not had it detailed but I have personally polished, sealed and waxed the car so it looks nice. It has the expected stone chips and some kerbing and bubbling on the wheels.

The interior is in good condition. Everything (except the CD player) works and nothing is 'broken'. Aircon/climate control works perfectly. Blows nice and cold. All electrics work. New boot gas-struts from SGS Engineering last year. All washer jets work perfectly.

The engine warms up nicely. Oil pressures are as they should be when cold and hot. Alternator is showing as healthy.

The majority of my driving is on A roads and Motorways. As many people can testify on the forum, normal driving will easily see an average of 30mpg. The best 'brim to empty' average I have achieved is 34.1mpg. If I'm a little playful (or stuck in traffic with the A/C on) the average drops to around 28mpg. The worst one off I have seen is an average of 24mpg.

Fellow enthusiasts will be able to confirm that 350Zs are very reliable and fairly cheap to maintain. This one especially so as the main cost (tyres and P3) has already been paid for on this car!!

The car drives very straight. Brakes are nice and firm (thanks to a full fluid flush and maintenance by Japex) and perform well. No squirming under braking.

I am very particular about my car.... Since putting the Zed for sale on other sites (Pistonheads, AutoTrader etc), I've noticed a slight oil leak from the diff. Japex have diagnosed this as a faulty seal. The seal has been ordered and will be fitted prior to sale (Japex are awaiting delivery of the seal from Nissan), as I would not be happy selling in the knowledge of a fault.

During the P3, Japex did note that:

Front brakes - discs and pads will be required in approx 6k miles (by Japex' estimates)

Banana arm bushes - showing signs of wear, but have not failed, just something to be aware of.

I will put the car through a fresh MOT.

I was asked recently for specific photos showing stone chips, kerbing etc.... so have uploaded more photos to Picasa which can be viewed here:

    https://picasaweb.go...-speqc4OmQzwE#

Feel free to contact Japex Performance to ask about the condition of this Z. They know me by my first name "Keerat".

Car can be viewed in Amersham or Guildford (Surrey Research Park).

Test drives only on production of valid insurance that covers you to drive other cars. If you do not have adequate insurance then the test drive will only consist of me driving.

Email me if you require photos of any specific part of the car.

Lets see this Zed go to a fellow Zed enthusiast. I would hate to see it go to someone who will not take care of it.

Sorry - I have to pull out :-( I've updated the list above.

  9. I went on a similar course/experience day in March this year - it was really good.

Seat/driving time might be a tad limited depending on how many people are at the session, but it is really useful having someone experienced in a controlled environment teach you how to drift and control them etc.

I'd love to go again, but next time it would have to be a full day session.

You will enjoy it! The drifting bug is quite addictive!

  11. Jus Reign is known for doing lots of tongue in cheek. I just watched 'some' of it.. then got bored. At times I get the feeling he has made a serious attempt at the video... at other times he is his usual 'jester' self, just doing silly things to lighten it up.

In the past he has done a few really good sketches, but to understand them fully you need to have an appriciation for Punjabi culture, and the varieties (i.e. people of Punjabi background living in the UK, Canada etc)...

This video is not one of his funny ones...
