  1. Afternoon,

A good friend of mine is looking for a nice 370Z auto, coupe or roadster but must be auto.

Mileage isn’t of great concern as long as well maintained abs documented history available.

A stock car is preferred and budget of around £13k with flexibility. Based in Somerset and looking for a car in next fortnight.

    Cheers

  2. Car looks lovely! Thanks for the tip, will be sure to have a good look at it. So is that attached to the good then, does it look replaceable?

Seals have cracked I would imagine due to weathering, the combination of sun/rain/atmospheric bits all eat away at the rubber which becomes brittle. I used some great stuff on my Honda rubber seals, used to do it twice and year and kept them like new - https://h-tune.co.uk/genuine-honda-shin-etsu-silicone-grease/?currency=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4obywMuR4QIVjZztCh1vkQRfEAQYASABEgKlgPD_BwE

Did you set out to buy a roadster? Did you look at many, interesting to hear your buying journey/experience?

I would settle for a coupe but having owned an S2000, VX220 and E46 M3 conv; I enjoyed the extra dimension of roof down motoring they all gave so think I need to hang out for a roadster.

  3. It’s really interesting to read through everyone’s contributions so thank you all.

Particular thanks to The G Man; that was a super informative and enjoyable read sir, only spurred me on with my desire to purchase one. I did have a little wander and budget creep looking at some other options but when it comes down to it I think the 370 just offers SO much for relatively little outlay.

No joy selling my Merc yet but watching the 370 market eagerly and have a few ads saved ready for when I can pull the trigger!!!!!

  4. Thanks for the replies, I have worked my way through most of those vids now! Lol!

Interesting to to hear about your roof problem, was it the fifth bow I seem to read a lot about??

Very much convinced the 370Z is the right car for me just need to get out and drive one. Did stray a little into considering a Golf R/S3 as an all rounder......avoiding the need for two cars, but not convinced.

  5. In my quest for a new car I wondered if anyone might be local in the Bristol/Somerset area that might fancy sparing me an hour or so to show me round their car and take me for a passenger ride??

Happily exchange this for some beer tokens/coffee or similar. Finding dealers that have these cars in stock and are knowledgable enough to show you round them is quite difficult!

I do work shifts so around lots of ‘random’ times which may or may not suit people.

  6. Really interesting so see everyone’s replies but also encouraging that a number have moved from a 350Z into a 370Z and also moved away from the Z completly only to return later down the line.

Really excited about the prospect of owning one, met with some friends last night one of whom has an Alfa 4C, one with a VX220 and one who is picking up a VX220T on the weekend. There is talk of some driving weekends in the sunnier months but also more importantly a trip across to Austria next year to watch the GP. I think the 370Z will make the ideal companion for these trips and should fit in nicely with the other cars.

i owned a e92 320i. It was my first car in the UK and it was such a fun car  trade it in for a 370z for 3 months now and i would say it was a wise choice. May keep it for 2 or 3 year and my next car would hopefully be a GTR or a R8

Probably quite a change for you then, E92 is a very timeless shape, an M3 of that era is on my list also.

I went from an s2000 to a 350z when I had it, now in an e46 m3 but my next purchase will Definatly be a 370z when I'm bored of the beem as the z got me hooked

Interesting you should make hay change, I had an ‘04 S2000 GT and really enjoyed it, I did consider another one by not sure about owning two of the same car twice?

  9. As per the title really, I am 13 pages into this forum now and havent come across a similar thread.

Interested in how people came to be in a 370Z, what you came from and how the 370Z compares?? I find it’s good to canvas peoples previous cars and their move to the 370Z, I have considered lots of different options along the way and at present the Z is the front runner.

It maybe that me of the other cars on my ‘list’ was owned previously by someone on here before their 370Z so sort of puts it in context for me.

  10. Thanks for the prompt replies, I don’t want it to drone on longer runs or be in your face at all - getting old now!! Lol!

When I had my MK5 R32 the stock exhaust sounded lovely, it was swapped to a non res Miltek which was awful so changed the non res pipe for a res one and that was much better.

Need to get out and try a stock one I think, I guess the roadster has the advantage of being top down so probably get more noise compared to coupe?

  11. Afternoon,

Just posted in the Intro forum as currently in the market for a 370Z roadster poss coupe depending on what I can find in budget.

A lot of the reviews I have read/watched all highlight the lack of noise produced from the stock exhaust given it has a whacking great 3.7 up front - is it THAT bad?

If I wanted more noise but not OTT what is the go to mod, is this the sort of exhaust you can have opened up and altered to retain the stock look but with more noise like the E92 M3?

Failing that perhaps de-catting, I am not sure just after people’s thoights?

  12. Afternoon all,

Joined this site some time back when I was considering buying a 350Z which never came to anything.

Back here again but this time with a 370Z in my sights. I am currently running a 2014 Merc C Class estate as a family wagon, however our daughter is growing up and at 8 no longe requires a child seat and although it’s nice to waft around in day today it doesn’t ‘excite’ me.

I have owned around 45 cars since I passed my test and include all manner or performance stuff - VX220, Impreza WRX, Impreza STi, Golf R32, E46 M3, Clio 200, VX220, Supra NA, 9-3 Aero, RS2000, Abarth 500 the list goes on!

The most enjoyment I have had has tended to be from the 2 seater cars, each time you go out in them it’s an ‘event’ and their quirks and difficulties remind you that your driving something special.

So I am looking to switch to running 2 cars, a diesel estate to do tip duties, dog walking, bike carriage and daily commute and a 370Z for days off and holidays.

It also happens that the first of us within my group of friends is turning 40 this year and wants to go on a driving holiday either Scotland or Europe. He has just bought a VX220, another has an Alfa 4C, another is in the market for an Elise S2 so you can probably see where this is going!

Having owned a fair few different cars I have always admired the 370Z and after initially considering the German contingent (Z4, Z4M, SLK55, Boxster, Caymen) I just really wanted to avoid the premium running/servicing costs of these.

To my mind the 370Z will offer the experience I am looking for but the benefit of Japanese reliability and running costs. It won’t be used everyday as mentioned but the ability to jump in it and take it to work ‘just because’ also appeals.

Done a fair bit of reading and looked at the market and they can be had for a good price now.

At present I am torn between a roadster and a coupe - I love top down motoring and as long as it’s not raining I have always had the roof down, seats on and heater up. I think it just adds to the experience because you see/hear/feel more of what’s around you. This also appeals if we head off to Europe.

I woukd assume the roadster is heavier (due to roof) and luggage capacity smaller hit are they any other distinct advantages/disadvantages to going for a roadster??

Watched a review which had the auto and it looked like a great gearbox to blip up and down through but is it quick or rather lathargic? The manual I guess offers more direct involvement and I think the synchro rev matching is a nice touch!

Anyway advice on any of the above would be most welcome and hope to be posting up here soon about what I have bought...
