  1. As Stew said, lower profile tyres on the rear are a given, as anyone who runs 19"s or 20"s has to lower the profile anyway, and the rolling radius would be the same. I thought I had seen somewhere about a 350z or G35 model which had staggered sizes, but cant remember what and/or where. I did wonder on supercars whether they ran smaller rims on the front to get the nose lower for diffuser effects?
  2. Hi, spent a while searching for topics but not much luck, as some supercars do it, (I know the Zed isnt a supercar), is there any benefit to running bigger rears to fronts, diameter as well as width? I wasn't sure if there was a reason or just to give it more of a stance for looks?
  3. I like a rasp under WOT, I can still remember giving it large in a 53 plate M3 that had an amazing sound to the exhaust, was like a propper rattle like all the nuts and bolts were loose but awesome! And still quiet enough on cruise...
  4. Cheers p.s.- and if I go FI it would probably be a supercharger, but I think thats a way off yet!
  5. Whats with the dual system exhaust for FI cars? Is it the V6 firing order or something? Just I ran a twin 2.5" system on my last car with a big X just after the headers and worked well, was a V8 though and it helped the exhaust tuning, same set up that Nascar run, pretty similar to this (stolen from google) http://www.chuckbrandt.com/exhaust.jpg
  6. I've heard that headers take a long time to fit, but we have a big workshop, no rush, and tubular headers (especially if ceramic coated) should make a good difference to any car, and allow less restriction should I want to go FI or N20 in the future
  7. Fairplay, I haven't had one but just going from what I've heard, K1 seems way too loud for me, crazy sound is good fun but the novelty wears off quickly I think! Dragon I agree it shouldn't have to be modified, but I was looking at it from the view that I could bring something cheap up to a good fit etc, as I can do most myself but dont have a mandrel bender etc.
  8. Hi all, I am basically wondering if there are any specific problems with the Japspeed exhausts, apart from the "doesn't quite fit" reason. I'm currently looking to buy a Zed (I know- dont have it yet...), and I know I will want an aftermarket system on it. The K2 sounds really good to me, and I'd be tempted to fit decats, Y piece and probably headers as well to do the whole lot properly. Only problem is I won't want to spend a silly amount, and as I am a fabricator I was thinking that I could iron out any problems with Japspeed stuff and re-TIG any parts that are notorious for breaking etc, or make adjustments. Does it sound like a plan, or are the exhausts really that bad that it's not even worth considering? (And if so, what could be that bad as it's only bent tubes and welded flanges!) Thanks, TC p.s. I like the sound of the K2 as it isn't too much louder than stock, has a nice sound without attracting cops and doesn't have a headachey drone...
  9. Hi, sorry no internet at home last night. I know it isn't going to be cheap to turn a 350z into a rocket, but I'm not expecting it to be completely wild- just fast enough to hang the back out and burn some rubber! It's a compromise because it's also a comfy road car, which my mx5 wasn't- you smelt of petrol when you got out of it, ears were ringing and hands shaking lol. For as long as I've been into cars I've always wanted a Supra RZ, but they are getting on a bit now and still expensive! R33 or R34 GTR only just behind on my wishlist but still a bit dear and the other thing with those two Jap monsters is you will hardly ever find a girl who appreciates what they are! If I had an extra couple of grand I'd probably get a Tuscan, because I know I wouldn't want to spend thousands on modifying it which is what normally kills the dream...
  10. p.s. thanks for the welcomes! [mod edit: Sorry mate, we have strict rules regarding sales. Lexx] (assuming it's ok to put up this link!)
  11. What are the main differences between the DE and HR engines then? Some H beam rods, forged pistons and treated crank can safeguard most engines if the main caps etc are secure enough, the journals look decent sized on the DE as well. 50-70bhp shot of gas should just be ok on standard timing shouldn't it, or is it best to go piggyback chip/ecu (sure I saw a Greddy one) that is easy to swap between modes etc.
  12. Looking forward to seeing it on your car Cragus Nah I've done the front bumper - sticker up next! Sorry I know this isn't strictly on topic and I don't like the graphics- but black, black and black looks awesome IMO- and the Hoosiers with the writing on look ace! Has this got a widebody kit or is it standard width just low and filled out with rubber?! Anyone know the kit...?
  13. I'm looking forward to owning a sharp, crisp V6 though! I'm not interested in a conversion in the Zed, the money it would cost I'd rather buy an R34 GTR! Basically I know when I find the right car I'll be after more power, my mazda was 400bhp per tonne and I'd still have had more, so I was thinking the easiest way to get some more power would be to plumb in an invisible nitrous set up, and had thought about using a single WON crossfire jet or something similar in the throttle body, with a 75bhp direct hit. The lines and soleniods could all be hidden, have a tiny activate switch in the dash somewhere and WOT switch and Bobs your uncle! I have a couple of friends who are regularly at Santa Pod who know their N2O too. Does it sound like a feasable plan, and probably best bang for buck? (Modified exhaust etc is a given too, subtle backbox like a Nismo one or Japspeed K2). Thanks, TC
  14. Hi all, I'm new here as you can see, I am currently looking to buy a zed as always liked them and after selling my last project car (370bhp blown V8 MX-5) I'm desperate for some fast wheels again. I was wondering though, what is the weak link- or what are the weak links, in the 3.5 V6 engine? I have seen several with turbo kits etc only pushing out mid 300's to 400 bhp, and wondering why when completely stock 2JZ-GTE engines and RB26-DETs can make something like 5-600bhp easily with more boost on stock internals. I have heard the heads on VQ35-DE flow very well, and as its a modern short V6 I'd have thought the crank would be strong, the block rigid, and modern conrods and pistons aren't usually too bad either! I'm not trying to rub anyone up the wrong way but would just like to know why you dont (or I havent!) see many big bhp 350's around, given that they have a big capacity to start with! Regards, TC p.s. I have spent hours browsing the forum to learn a bit already...
