  2. cheers guys, im hoping to make it along to the next local meet if there is anything coming up in surrey soon? Or grab a spot on any stands at upcoming shows if possible
  3. aah yeah i remember! this was before i had fitted the new wheels. I had just put the coilovers on and was taking it out to test it. As i pulled up to the lights i heard a god awful noise (hence why i didnt spank it away like you did) , i @*!# myself and crept it down the road and pulled over to check what it was. turned out it was just the camber of the road catching the splitter I like the wheels but the tyre stretch not so much! ...and Nankings oooooh - i just said a dirty word Nankangs weren't the first choice but when you have just dropped £800 odd on a set of Advans for the Rays, i wasnt jumping at the chance to spend even more for another set of 19's! im not going to be taking this round the Nurburgring on these wheels either so the only job these tyres had to do was separate the rim from the floor
  4. no the stretch wont damage the sidewalls, maybe uneven wear if its not set up propperly and aligned, but it will be as of next saturday yeah these are purely posing wheels, ive got the rays in the garage with track tyres on and a little mx5 track car to abuse instead of this

  6. yeah it was, you were gonig past the other way yeah?
  7. wheels are on! im running on the same ride height as i was before. to really tuck the wheels in the arches i could do with dropping another inch or so but its such a low car as it is i think that would be foolish suspension needs to settle etc but here she is! before - the finished wheels - on the car -
  8. nice mate, good to see someone else with these wheels! I wish i knew you had these wheels before i started the project though, all the parts/measurements have been guesswork and wishfull thinking! Tyre wise, ive gone for 225/35R19 on the front and 235/35R19 on the rear. fronts are 9 inch wide and rears are 10's. Have you got staggered fitment or all the same width on yours? as per the thread, ive put the D2 coilvers on so will have to play around with the ride height once fitted. i was hoping to get away without rolling the arches, hopefully the stiffness of the suspension keeps the arches from rubbing...
  9. cheers mate, wheels are being sprayed shadow chrome, they are ready for collection tomorrow, cant wait
  10. Time to dust off my wheels and get them ready to fit to the car! Bought a set of BMW 7 series wheels 6 or so months ago and have spend the last few months working out what tyres/spacers/adapters/wheel nuts etc. i will need to get them on and set up well. Picked up a set of 25mm H&R adapters to change the Nissan stud pattern to that of a BMW, along with some new BMW locking wheel bolts - 3 of the 5 wheels and a new set of rubber for them time to trail fit them before they go off to get dipped - 10s on the back little taster for now, i dropped them at BJV Engineering on saturday to get dipped, refurbed and powercoated so will be picking them up this saturday and fitting if the weather holds out
  11. no mate, we had this debate a few weeks ago in the suspension section. If you do the research into the pros and cons, there is about 50% who dont reccomend and 50% that do. I drive this car once a week if im lucky and its very light driving, not hard or excessive at all. Ive got a dedicated track car in the garage for driving like a nutter so the 350 is my cruiser more show than go.
  12. Picked myself up a set of D2 coilovers for the car few pics fitting them... and the end result -
  13. one thing ive learnt, Americans have wayyyy too much time on their hands! I barely have time to drive my car as it is, let alone talk about whether its safe to drive my car or not... I think for the amount i use my car and for the type of use i use it for, im happy with the true coilovers. I now have a dedicated track car to abuse, rather than the nissan, so the 350 spends its days looking pretty and taking me around town once a week. The coilovers are purely a visual mod on this car and once the 19x10s are fitted next month, i will be driving even slower as i dont think these wheels were designed for performance thanks for all the input though, i will keep an eye on the rear suspension and update on performance/damage etc...so il be the test dummy for the true or not setup

I remember an older member getting stopped by the police & they tested the factory tint on the front windows of a Z & it was darker than the legal limit. I've had tints on cars before & never had any issues with the police yeah ive heard of this before too...BMW have been knocking out factory tint that is "illiegal" on most of their range for years. My 350 is 3 years old so will be pulling the factory card if i get stopped.
  15. cheers guys, il have a read of the link above. Personally, i think a company the size of D2 would never globally sell anything for a car that doesnt come with any warning or advice on possisble damage their product will cause if fitted without XYZ... If any damage did come from fitting their suspension, they would be the first people i would call to pay my repair bill and can only assume they couldnt object as per the above? (which leads me to believe the true coilovers will be fine as they are) On another note, does anyone have any reccomendations for a good coilover set up company? i want the height/tracking/dampning etc. adjusted propperly by someone that has all the gear. im in the epsom, surrey area but can travel if its not too far...

ive never heard of any penalty for tints before in my years as a hardcore street racer ...ive heard you may be asked to peel off the tint there and then but again ive never known of anyone made to do this. Im not aware of anyone getting collarred for tints at all to be honest, the police tend to target the limo tinted saxo's and corsa's at car meets as opposed to our sort of car i would imagine. My 'light' tints dont restrict any visibility at all in my opinion, you can only really tell from the outside they have any tint on them
  17. Nope the later cars aren't any different mate. You are correct those are true coilovers. I'm sure there was some reports of distortion with true coilovers without reinforcements What sort of reinforcements need to be done? They seem to be performing well at the moment, bit concerned I should look at the above now though...
  18. yeah i thought as much! If i get my alignment set up for the Rays, then add spacers and change the wheels, will the alignment need doing again? This is my issue as i want to use both sets of wheels every now and again...
  19. got a new set of H&R 25mm spacers at home ready to go on with the new wheels
  20. cheers looks better with a pin on the 6 but the police dont seem to approve
  21. i think the little kerb its on makes it look a tiny bit lower than it is but im relatively happy with the height. the ride is surprisingly comfortable too im happy to report

these are a light tint on the front and medium on the rears. To be honest you really cant notice any difference when inside. its only when the sun goes down and from the right angle they look dark. It was £220 for a full set on the 350 but after a bit of negotiation and a group booking, i paid £140 all in for mine
  23. picked up a set of D2 coil overs and fitted them to my 350 last night. I was surprised how easy it was to fit them all, definitely been more tricky on all my other cars! pics below Before - fitting pics... it got dark by the time i finished last night so here are a couple of pics from this morning... haven't had a chance to play around with the height yet, i think the rear is a bit too low so may raise it a touch... im fitting some 19s with stretched tyres soon so unsure whether to get the wheel alignment set up now on these wheels or just wait til the new wheels are fitted? Any thoughts? Il be re-fitting the Rays for track use so want to have the suspension suitable for both sets of wheels as i don't want to be adjusting all the suspension and alignment for every track day i do...
