  1. i like this car wish you would have let us know you were p/x'ing

going to have a look around it today, won't be buying at 11,500 though as i've seen much better deals out there. jamie moy's car is always in the back of my mind saying buy me

edit it's further than I thought just for a look around so not going to bother. I have another couple to look at then I will see what the garages best price is

  2. rabbit is right i have seen cars for 9k and another one exactly same spec with higher mileage for 13k. Obviously the 13k seller is a dreamer but it's all relative to how long you will keep the car, and how much you want that particular car. From my experience of searching for the right car at the right price there are alot of buyers for cars 6-8k, so the deals do not look as good. However, get above 9k and there seem to be bargains aplenty, probably based on trade in prices of sub 8 people have received on 07' cars from dealers.

My advice grab another grand out of your savings and buy a minter

  3. Having worked for many different dealers over 6 years I can tell you the exact way they pull the crazy prices out of the sky (it seems)

dealerships and private trader/trader garages work differently

dealerships - 2 types premium and non

    can they sell they car?

if yes then they will look at current selling prices of the 350z market and low ball you dependant on that. They may try to nick it to get a good profit. car would usually have to be under 6 years old and usually under 60k. They would also look at if they want it on the forecourt as most companies operate a 90 day turnaround policy otherwise the car is losing too much and off it goes to auction. And let's be honest selling a 350z is not an easy task.

If no (which if you are not buy the same marque of car then they will not sell it on there forecourt normally) then they will check auction prices, if the car is particularly nice then they will have a ring round the traders to get prices who will offer low ball prices because they want a quick turn around and as said before unless they are cheap the 350's don't have a quick turn around.

With an independent trader they have more of a free role. They will consider prices of similar 350's for sale and work out how much they want to give you for example this guy may have had a 350 that was considered to be worth 4500. The trader then looks at his stock he is selling you. the beemer may have been 15k selling price (just an example) but in total only cost him 12. He desperately wants out of the beemer so kills off some of his profits to fund the deal. A trader wheeler deals a bit more. As long as he makes a profit and turns over stock he doesn't care. But don't hesitate to believe you could have walked in there sold your 350 for 6k private and still got the 1500 knocked off because you could any indy trader will have 3-4k on a beemer like that because he may have to send it to auction which will cost him a fortune. (Some dealerships work like this also - when I worked at audi I saw cars with up to 10k profit on them)

All garages and traders work on profit margins their car has a cost and yours has a worth. The amount you get in as a trade in depends on the profit margins of the car you are buying. There are just separate ways of determining the value of yours. I have some tricks to get better deals from delearships if you are interested :) not going to post them on here though the trader mafia may send the boys round. The reason why trade in on the golf was bad because they have no profit margins to throw away on the r's. It the same with the s's and rs's at audi you usually struggle to get a deal on these unless they are desperate to turn stock over.

  4. hey welcome

did you have the de or ZE engine in the mx3? the breaks on those things definitely needed uprating they hardly were good enough for the origional 1.8. As you can probably tell I used to own one that was a bottomless pit for money. Had the lambo doors, carbon bonnet and blitz bodykit. Then it got smashed up at an uninsured bodyshop

still on a brighter note I managed to keep a clean license

  5. Will do. Due to the distance involved I will make enquiries prior to driving across I think with the ability to purchase on the day of said travel lol. Just as long as they are able to be realistic on price.

I'm still going to be vulturing in the mean time.

  6. Thanks for your help Martin. I will probably make my way down there when I'm back off exercise. See how much they need to get rid of it as every month it's eating away at the dealerships profits

Martin is this car a 313 or am I thinking right in it's a 300?

    Thanks

  7. I guess they will devalue the same because of people like me. I attach no more worth to the roadster than a coupe, and I see the price of 370z's moving ever closer to the 15k mark. So much so that with 15.5k I think I could securemyself a 370z over the next few months.

I do like the look of the one at the dealership but I know they will need to return a ridiculous amour of cash for it. There is one in south Yorkshire on a 59 reg but has 29k on the clock and they want 15 grand. I think they may struggle and won't be getting my business at that price lol. On the other hand I have seen some bargains. Just waiting on the cash fro my house to clear.

Rabbit I'm near Coventry but my dad lives in northampton

  8. Yeah from his earlier posts he said he works away, so guess he's off shore or something. It is an option just a bit far to travel as I'm in the midlands.

Also I fubarred the title I'm looking for 313 gt in coupe or roadster, low mileage, don't mind subtle mods, any colour really (black, grey, blue, temper), key is low mileage and condition. I used to work in motor industry so know the value of cars and the difficulty of moving on a 10k + car unless it's a bm or Audi

So guys looking forward to ownership guess I'll just see what comes along :snack:

And cs you might be seeing me soon

  9. i am in no rush really. I don't have a set budget, but as with everyone I want the best car for a very good price and I will not overspend.

Ideally looking for someone who will be trading / px'ing in the next month or two and would rather have the car go to a car enthusiast rather than a dealer who is trying to rob you blind. So yeah cash waiting in a couple of weeks. Please make my year

    B)

  10. Also not to put you off as it's your choice but I would be shocked to see a car of that age with that mileage on any main dealer forecourt. I worked for a number of dealer franchises and never saw a car on the sales pitch at 100k.

The advert is most definitely full of false claims, but could still be a reasonable car.

One thing for me when buying from a garage, if is taxed and has slight signs of use the likelihood is one of the salesman is thrashing it around as a demonstrator.

  11. Well after about a year of waiting it's now time to start car searching a bit more seriously.

I looked around a few rx8's  but with the engine problems I could end up potentially spending as much as I would on a 350.

I don't have a set budget, and in the next couple of weeks should have a pot of cash similar to that of an Irish midget at the end of the rainbow however I don't want to spend it all, so I guess there is a maximum I want to spend.

I want a low mileage 313 gt hopefully. Coupe or roadster dependent on the car. Sat nav would be niiiice, and I'm drawn to the bright orange colour like a fly to ... Mods are ok, and wheels would have to be perfect.

So guess I just want to say hello ... Again :)
