  1. Yep, which i reckon the 350z has a tensioner that works on the oil pressure. But surely the tensioner shud have some kind of stop to stop it stackening off once car is switched of? Lots if people say its normal noise. But cant be normal if some 350's do it and not others?
  2. So if its timing chain rattle on cold start ups, whats causing it? Is the timing chain tensioner to fault? Ive seen lots ant lots and lots of these threads saying rattle on cold start up and everyone says mine does it, dont worry, and its normal. But I've never read a thread that has given us a reason why its doing it or a fix to the problem. I suspect that the chain tensioner Isn't tensioning the chain for the 1 sec till the car fires and the oil pressure builds to make the tensioner work?? If that's the case does the tensioner not have a ratchet style plunger to stop the tensioner fully slackening off when the car turnes of and the oil pressure drops back to nothing? Dont know if that all makes sense. But im interested to see an answer and solution to what seems to be a very common question / concern to 350z owners.
  3. did you fit these spacers? if so any chance of some pics?
  4. does it come with the pipe work?
  5. Where abouts in the UK are you? Im Interested in exhaust and Y Pipe. Cheers Omar
  6. Buster those rays look awesome in that colour with the orange lip. Goes well with the colour of the car and breaks up the black alloy and tyre nicely. Dont suppose you have a full on side shot of your car? :-)

    Oil Top Up

Hi Guys/Girls, I need to top up my car with oil. Just wondering what oil i should use to top up with? Its got a full Nissan service history, but im not sure what oil they use. I do have about 3L left of Mobile semi syth 10w40 left over from my old car in the garage but dont wanna put it in if its no good, so thought i better ask. Sorry if this has been asked before Ive been looking for an answer on here and when i search for oil in the search bar it comes back with nothing. Im guessing that you need to put in a word more than 3 letters which doesnt help when i put in "oil top up" lol. Oh if it helps ive got a 2003 uk gt Cheers Omar
  9. Hi guys, thanks for the replys. Sorry i ant replied till now but ive been away. I'll try and have a look at both then. When the satnav is on say on the kenwood, are you still able to listen to music or the radio at the same time?
  10. Hi all. I cant decide what head unit to get. Currently ive got the standard bose head unit fitted and a stand alone Alpine satnav system. Initially I was just gonna get a replacement head unit something like the Alpine iXA-W404R so it would match the satnav. However the satnav desperatly need updating to current maps and when ive investigated into getting the lastest maps for the alpine it would cost me around £250 to get the dvd. So that would mean i spend say upto £400 for the new head unit plus £250 on the maps so gonna end up costing me £650 ish. Soooo now ive been looking at other options. I cud get something like the Kenwood DNX5260BT which has satnav built in with bluetooth etc etc. Is the Kenwood DNX5260BT anygood? Does the Kenwood DNX5260BT have any sort of duel function, ie, able to say play my music or radio on my headunit screen and use the Alpine screen i already have fitted to display say the satnav at the same time? I think the likes of some JVC headunits have this option. What route do you think i should take? Basically id like to keep my Alpine screen in its current location in the satnav cubby hole in the dash to basically just display the satnav maps. Cheers Omar
  11. hmmmmmmm it is tempting. But its starting to get a bit pricey. Starting to wish i kept my old alpine cda-9955 from my old car. Was getting a bit old but still worked great unlike my bose one lol. I like the alpine stuff but its like you buy the basic head unit first, then most of the time you have to buy all these optional extras like bluetooth, sound processors, sat nav etc etc lol. Gets expensive. I really wanna update my Alpine satnav system but when ive looked into getting the lastest dvd its like £260 for the lastest maps. Seems a tad steep if you ask me lol. I was looking at the JVC KW-AVX830. Quite tempted by it. Seems like you get lots of features for a not bad price. But then again it might be a case of you get what you pay for. Will have to read some reviews later.
  12. lol cheers for the reply. I was a bit confused by this but if the amp is ment to take low level inputs then it all makes sense now. 4v head unit it is then. Ive been looking at Alpine double dins but non of the recent double dins models seem to have 4v pre outs. Does anyone know of recent model Alpine head units with 4v pre outs? I really liked the Alpine iXA-W404R but only has 2v pre outs. Anyone have any experience with this one? I wanted to have Alpine as i already have an Alpine sat nav system plumbed into the car. Its a stand alone system though so not absolutely essential to have an Alpine head unit I guess.
  13. Hi all, Newbie here. So I've spent a lot of time reading up on the forum about the skippy Bose headunit (which I have ) and what is needed to replace the headunit for an aftermarket one and what cables i need etc.. So I'm going to change it soon, maybe this week, just need to decide on what headunit I want to get. Anyway, after reading up on some headunits not producing a loud enough sound, maybe down to a lower voltage pre outs ie 2v and below. Now you buy an adaptor that has pre out on it so you can hook up the pre outs from your new shiny headunit. The little Bose amp thats in the car does not have pre outs (or should that be pre in's?? lol). Now I could be wrong but surely using the pre outs from the new head unit are ment to be a low level out put hence why some people get a low sounding system? Would it not be correct to use the actual speaker wire outputs from the new headunit as I thought that these speaker wire outputs where high outputs? I even remember me having an old amp that had the option for normal low level inputs (phono pre outs) and high level inputs (speaker wire outputs). So basically what im trying to get at is why is there an adaptor for the bose system that is not ment to run on the low level pre outs from a head unit. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree? lol. Hope that all makes sense. It does in my head anyway. Cheers Omar
  14. Thanks and is there a secret sunset handshake?
