  1. Following a kind member of MLR (thanks mate!) pointing out to me that my car is currently listed as a CAT-D write-off - I have realised that it is (obviously I hadn't HPI checked my own car SINCE I bought it).

This is an administrative screw-up by my insurance comany at the time (who've also currently been insuring me since with it not listed as one).

I have contacted their complaints department and insisted they remove the 'flag' from the HPI database.

Below is a copy of the letter they sent me back in 2012 which confirms it was NOT written off. I'll reply again to this post once I have confirmation from them it is now HPI clear (as it always should have been).

    Evo%20not%20a%20CAT-D%20Letter%20-%20no%20address.jpg

Hopefully this hasn't put too many people off - car will be HPI clear before sale!

Insurance companies - it's not like we pay them!

    Spare HID bulbs

Spare complete set of wheel nuts (was going to have these recoated as ones on car tatty)

Spare OEM 8MR double boost control solenoids

Boot lid beginning to blister under spoiler uprights

Little rust spots on window frames

[i’ve been quoted £700 to have the above repaired – but tbh would rather sell first, this has been considered in the price. Can provide written quote to buyer]

Has had some paint on OS rear panel, door and bumpers after minor single car accident on 6/7/12, total cost £1500 via Insurance, professional repair (no panels needed) and not in any way written off.

Pics of damage on following link:

    http://s1080.photobu...e?sort=3&page=1

Some surface rust on underside bolts, etc - could do with re-underseal soon.

Carbon on spoiler could do with refurb on edge and 1 side upright. Carbon exhaust heat shield could do with re-spray of lacquer.

Tiny tear on passenger’s seat cushion alcantara which could be easily repaired

Registration docs show as 8MR FQ-320, but this is typical of all FQs.

    Gearknob is a little worn

  4. If I was going to buy snow socks, which I am not, I wouldn't buy them from ASDA... :snack:

    +1

Actually, a thought, maybe it's a clever marketting ploy - people drive into their car park, scare themselves cos it's not been gritted/salted at all ever and then panic buy snow shoes to get back out...?

  5. Good Idea

I think there are no really bad tyres made in these sort of sizes that the Zed requires(except Bridgestones of course ) , anything fitted will be an improvement over standard fitment,

I know it's a old post to quote but I had AutoGrip F107 on the rear of my Z when I bought it. Worryingly these are sold in the UK as cheap types in 18" Z sizes but are technically a Mud&Snow tyre.

They are pants in the dry and truly dangerous in the wet, especially mixed with decent fronts - unplanned drifts at 20mph with light throttle!

Changed them all to Re050a DZs and haven't looked back. :)

Some very helpful reviews here - keep it up.

  6. Thanks for the replies Neil & Alex!

I was very careful fitting, esp the oil fill rubber and have checked since, looks clean. Will check again though.

Do the CVVs break (is not function as intended)? I guess its a one-way valve that only allows air up (is DRM camcase into Mani). could mine be venting wrong way?

Any other fail-prone parts in this bit of the system which might be failed/failing?

    Cheers,

    Toby

  7. Hi all, wondered if someone might be able to identify this part please?

    WP_000247.jpg

    WP_000248.jpg

    WP_000249.jpg

Left hand side of engine (UK driver's side) front of the camcase between sparkplug locations (see pic).

Plastic screw in (21 or 22mm socket) valve that I assume is to do with crackcase ventilation as hose from it goes to air pipe on front of bottom half of intake plenum.

I suspect it to be the cause of a strange hiss from my engine (since I fitted plenum spacer) and imagine it's broken. Engine did overheat once (well before plenum fitted) so imagine this part might be cooked...

Took airpipe off and cleaned a good bit of oil out of valve-thing, checked that pipe clamps all holding tight but still hisses.... Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,

    Toby
