  2. Hi lukekbrown

How old is it and how many miles on it?

    Thanks

Honestly could not answer that question as I purchased my Z with it already fitted, but know that the previous owner had fitted it under his ownership. He owned the car for 2 years and I've had the Z a few months.

Looking through service history, the previous owner didn't cover more than 10,000 miles. So worse case scenario, 2 years and a few months old and approx 12,000 miles covered. But could be a lot less...

    Hope that answers your queries.

    Thanks

This looks like a brand new K1! B) The original owner must have been cleaning it after every drive! :scare: I'd be thinking its a LOT less than 12k on it!

  3. Well guys I thought I'd just revive my old thread to keep some sence of order about it!

My Zed is now gone! :byebye:

My new mode of transport is..................... a Ford Mondeo ST TDCi! :teeth:

The Ford ST was in the short list but it wasn't till I had a test drive and worked out the potential savings I realised that a TDCi was the sensible option! She's a Panther Black 07 with 41k! (I'll post sum pics later!)

Now a K&N induction kit, stainless exhaust with DeCat and a Remap and were sorted! :teeth:

I've already fitted (last nite to be precise) some sexy LED's in the footwells and puddle lights!

A huge thanks to all the forum members who made Nic and I feel more than welcome everywhere! You all know who you are! ;)

Now if I can just get Nic to learn to drive I could get another Zed! (maybe a 370! :teeth: )

Once again cheers for all the banter and fun times! This Forum is the :king:

    Stu

ps I'll keep poppin in from time to time just incase I'm allowed to join in any of the Hoon's!

  4. I've been hunting for a replacement stainless steel exhaust for my GT as mine had split at the rear flange flange - which I'm told is a common problem?!

Japspeed informed me that their K2 wouldn't fit as my 300bhp GT version has a different bumper and the tail pipes wouldn't stick out far enough.

Is this true for all off the shelf steel exhausts? - I'd really appreciate it if any other owner of a similar GT model could advice on one which will fit ok?!

Not wanting to spend £450 with the main dealer for a standard one I took it to Save On Tyres in Exeter and Pat did a top job of cutting off the flange and wielding the 2 sections together for just £30.

Would still like some advice if anyone can help?

Japspeed Zorsts only fit pre 06 models! Trust me I've been there! :bang:

Get a Scorpion if your budgets tight. Most swear by them!

I had a japspeed exhaust on my rev-up 2006 stu  It fitted fine... you lot are just unlucky :);)

I have since discovered that Nissan in there ultimate wisdom decided for a 6 month period (roughly betwwen the 56-06 models) to slightly alter the route the exhaust takes under the car...............then change it back 6 months later! :bang:

  5. what about one of these...

    2802030-9.jpg

It's basically a more fun version of the golf. The 2.0L engine can be mapped to nearly 300Bhp without too much trouble, 5 doors, good build quality, and for £12K your be able to get a relatively new one :) I nearly bought the a brand new Cupra R at £25K to replace the Z.

    I have been to view a white 08 mazda3 mps 22.5k £9995! quite nice! :thumbs: They had a red 57 leon cupra 28k £10995! looked ok! :yawn::lol:

Nic loved it! Always nice to keep the other half happy! ;)

  6. You're a hard bugger to please.

    A megane 225 5 door or a Focus ST 5 door then.

3 doors might look marginally better but they are in no way child friendly!

vauxhall astra sri 5 door 1.9cdti?

    I said no Diesels!

Seriously though the ST is really starting to look like the sensible option. Fast, fun, practical, isofix points, cheap to run. It really looks like it's going to be the winner!

  7. A guy at my work has a pearl white MPS (older and more tasteful shape) and it's a total weapon.

Just remember to get a 5 door. 3 doors with babies is a total nightmare!

I would seriously look at a mk5 r32 golf if you can. Even in 4 door its pretty meaty and very reliable

Seen a nice R32 with the DSG box! Not my style!

    Golf= :wheelchair:

  8. Now I'm looking at Focus ST225! I had a ST170 so the new one is very tempting!

Bare in mind the fuel consumption is similar to a Z! Evo did a buyer's guide recently and there's a surprising amount that goes wrong, especially on early cars.

The only bit that worries me is the dodgy electrics!

+1 I once went to look at a cheap R26 after a rain storm and the central locking was going haywire. Fortunately someone else had bought it before I got there.

No one mentioned the Mazda 3 MPS yet? Not the best to drive but 0-60 in 5.9s and low profile. Expensive road tax though.

It's not cost thats making me get rid of the Zed, It's the lack of backseats! :byebye:

Mazda 3 MPS is a good call but just not for me!

Get a Scorpion if your budgets tight. Most swear by them!

  10. If you really want to go back to fail wheel drive, then it would have to be the Megane for me. Best drive, even if it's got a slightly naff interior.

If and when I have a need for a hatch sized car I'd be looking seriously at the Renaultsport stable too. As a default choice the MKV Golf GTi is a good option (or Seat equivalent) and that goes for the VAG diesels too.

For something bigger I'd probably look at BMW's.

Had a look at a Renaultsport Megane 225 on saturday! Looked really nice (Not sure if Nic's sold on the big arse though! ) 58 reg with only 17.5k on the clock for less than £10k  The only bit that worries me is the dodgy electrics!

I wouldn't bother with a type R. The latest shape one is not that good. A friend of mine bought a new one and sold it within a year because he hated it that much as a daily driver and it guzzled petrol. I was a passenger in it a couple of times and I have to admit I didn't really like it, really has to be thrashed to get it moving and the interior is a bit weird.

It's also only a 3 door and access to the back seats is a bit fiddly as the front bucket style seats don't move forward that much and the gap to get in the back is small. The front seats also don't go back to the last used position when you put them back up so you're constantly having to readjust them if you're accessing the back.

The ride and handling was also a bit crashy and hard as it's a torsion beam rear suspension rather than independent like the old version was.

I've heard all these thing about the Type R and it's them that are putting me off! Biggest gripe is Vtec though! I'm not a fan of top end power so raging it for the poke is not for me! My mechanical sympathy goes into overdrive!

Now I'm looking at Focus ST225! I had a ST170 so the new one is very tempting! Just need to decide if I want it to be Electric Orange! B)

Thanks for the opinions lads! Keep em coming! :#1:

  11. Haha cheers Stephen!

Martin you are correct, asda's own jagermeister as they had none of the real stuff. 2 cases of strongbow, case of tennents, case of Stella, lots of vodka, jack d, redbull, wkd for when I tire out. Erm I'm sure there was more. The bill was 110quid haha

    Ello, long time no speak.

Just seen your car in Asda there, its a bit different than the last time I seen it. The wrap looks stunning, and the car was gleaming.

Is yours a silver 06 plate? Coz I saw you there as well tonight, aboot 6ish B) I got drink as well :yahoo:

Hey I thought you guys were going to The Lakes for a drive not a drink!

    :yuck::yuck::yuck: to alcohol!

  12. Went to see an Evo VIII today! It's now back up at the top of the list! :#1:

Hardly a hot hatch, but how about an E46 M3? if running costs arent an issue of course

Out of your list though I'd say definitely the Golf Gti. Has a lot more class than the others, especially the Type R and VXR which are a bit..well... chavvy imo

Running costs are not any prob's as my VAG mechanic mate is well versed in other cars!

+1 bout the Chavvy (Neddy in Scotland!) TypeR and VXR! Both got so much poke though that they've got to be worth a look though! :drive1

If your gonna have a family, then safety first. I would get a Volvo V50/V70 depending on how much room you need. 4 seats, big boot, safe, conftable, and fast if you can get a T5.

If it's gooed enough for the old bill.........

It's just a baby were having! I mite be a bit of an old man (36) but I'm not getting an estate...........

I would recommend a Golf GT TDI. They are great cars, value for money.

Diesel, 6 speed manual, 60+ mpg :yahoo: and they are reasonably quick. Plus if you want some more power the engines are easily tunable to 200 + bhp!

Yup... which is what a SEAT is ... but cheaper ;)

    ...or a DIEsel!

  13. Hey guys!

Just looking for a a friendly bit of advice! (as always )

I'm sure some of you know Nic is expecting our first baby later in the year :yahoo:

Sadly this means the Zed's gotta go for something with a back seat!

My first solution was to go for an EVO or a Scooby but now I'm not so sure! The idea of going back to a Hothatch is very tempting!

The only problem is what one? Focus ST, Golf GTi, Civic TypeR, Astra VXR, Megane 225, Leon Cupra, Etc, Etc, Etc!

I had a ST170 previous to the Zed so the "Force is Strong" with the new ST225!

My best mate is a VAG mechanic so free labour/servicing on the Golf and Leon!

My budget is £10-12k Depending on trade in for my Zed or if I sell her private!

As always chaps I look forward to your pearls of wisdom!

    Cheers Stu!
