  1. Yes cheers for that Neil

I know running an engine sprays the oill about all over the shop, but as i said i did it cold on Sat and it showed 'Min' but then tried the procedure written in the manual for checking (not changing) the oil level which states to run up to temp then turn off and let stand for 10 mins plus to let oil run back down (which i think is waaay to short - hence why i left it for 30mins plus). This was to see if i got different readings..

Am going to check 'cold' this arvo and top up as required.

Still a stuupid dipstick though :)

  2. Hmm. Think we pay about £900 for the Zed and a 2003 Pug 307 HDi D-Turbo, both with limited mileage policies, so i guess thats not too bad as we're both a bit either side of 30 between us with a good few years NCB.

Will def get a quote from LV and a few others when its time to renew..

  3. Well that was a waste of time. Trying to get a reading on the darn dipstick! I know im prob about to see a thousand 'repost' replies but what a useless bit of kit :scare:

Dipper showed on min mark on Sat after starting it to reverse out garage, switching off, then checking 30 mins later. So ordered some oil for a top up which went to put in yesterday but after I did the reccomended procedure (warm to operating temp then let stand for over 10mins to get a reading) it was still plastered over the entire dipstick after half an hour plus.

Does anyone know if you get an accurate reading from cold or does it have to be warmed up? As warming up and leaving for a while messes it all up on the stick.

Also if it has used down to the L mark after 7 months of weekend only and no 'hammering when cold' useage since the P3 is this about right? 07 GT, 30k, no oil smoke ever seen, v.good nic engine.

    Thanks.

  4. Where have you shifted your radio aerial too?? Looks good deleted. Thought about deleting the rear wiper whilst you're at it? Cleans the back of the car up nicely..

Is the standard fog light lens actually clear then with just a red bulb making it look all red?? Not really looked closely but if so will be ordering an LED red bulb sharpish

  5. Funny you should mention this as ive just been sat down for 2hrs at the computer planning our upcoming Euro trip.

6 days, UK to the Pyrennees with a stop over somewhere mid france there and on the way back to break the 727 mile trip down there.

In terms of fuel costs im going on the fact that on long motorway and N-road hauls (they're more fun but generally follow the motorways in France) im gonna be looking at approx 450 miles to a tank. So at roughly 90 quid a tank, and allowing an approx total mileage for the trip of 2000 inc driving to and from Dover on the UK side, and a spot of driving about once we're there, im looking at 400 quid for fuel all in. This is prob a worse case senario fuel cost and it will be a fair bit less if i keep to 70 on the motorways as often as i can which will then be mpg's in the bank for the blasts up and down mountain passes :drive1

Oh and in terms of the missus. Tell her she can do some driving of the Zed, that'll be a selling point for sure. Dont however do what i did and try to make the fact that the Tour de France is on at the same time and that we could go and see a stage finish a selling point as you'll spend the next few days trying to wipe the frown off her face

If you go to Andorra or eastern Europe for instance i think you need to tell your ins co so read up on that type of info too

  6. Best for someone more knowledgable than I to reply but my problem is not the berks but the combination of the up rev I had done prior to the berks and the berks. The up rev made the car run lean, the berks do that too making the car run very lean, hence why I need the up rev modified. Just berks should be fine but an up rev is a good idea to get the most from them.

Regarding you worry about the mid range rasp of the berks, I can understand that, I was worried at first but noemi know it's a characteristic of the berks I'm not worried, I kinda like the sound. It only occurs when the car is under load between 4-4.5k revs. I would never go back to the old cats, car was way too quiet.

    Thanks for the info

  7. Nice, I can image it maybe won't feel as fast as the R32 but it certainly looks a whole lot better B)

    :welcome:

My apprentice had an r32 and it felt very very fast. In a drag race the zed out revved it and he was changing gear alot.

R32 with miltek exhaust is the best sounding v6 ever

    Er? :)
