  1. How difficult is it to fit the car phone cradles?? I'm trying to decide between doing the ipod headunit mod + fitting a car cradle + bluetooth module or just getting a din convertor and fitting a suitable bluetooth headunit... I loved my Sony one in the van (until some bastard stole it  ) as it streamed music via bluetooth and calls etc... was just so easy no wires no nothing to worry about... just may be more expensive this way.

  2. if theres no gas in the system then theres probably moisture in the pipework, to be honest id take it to the pro's. im an a/c engineer and i wouldnt do my car myself as its a very expensive mistake if overcharged or you have moisture in the system. potentially a new air con compressor required. saying that ive had no issues with mines and when the time comes i probably will give it a bash, but there is auto a/c engineers out there that know what there doing and paid well for a reason

I apprecieate your point, I've found a local company that will do a full a/c service for £70 and come to me or £60 for a check and regas only.

I'll consider it, it does sound like the air con needs looking at. Just extra cash I didn't want to spend.

Anyone used Kwik Fit for air con service? Apparantly as little as £30 or so and they'll do it while I wait, full check and re-gas or no cost if the system doesn't need gassing.

  3. Time of year, cold external air, warm inside car, equals condensation however your aircon should clear it quicker than you say. Probably worth a check, if it needs recharging do it yourself, about £50 from halfords, this link shows you the port location and how to do it.

    Jeff

Well that looks really easy actually, I might consider that quite soon. Just be a shame to buy it then find the system pressure is fine but that's sods law I guess! I'm sure the air con isn't as good as it should be.

Getting expensive this now haha, just bought nissan reverse sensors. I have a JWT pop charger and plenum spacer on the "to buy list" and on the "really urgently need" list is new gas boot struts and air con recharge hmm! :scare::yahoo:

  4. yep it will happen in any car if re-circ is on, possible jammed on if it isnt on. mines always on outside air as i love the smell of the v-power waftin through my nostrils as i stop at junctions and lights... mmm decats best mod ive ever done

Mines almost always on re-circ too, I know that because every time I spray the windows I can smell it (and cover the whole car in screen wash thanks to the headlight washers

Good point about the air con efficiency, I'm not convinced mines all that good. Re-gas?

  5. Got to have the air con on all the time at this time of year.

My air con is always on, it doesn't fog up when I'm actually driving but if I leave it for more than 2 minutes parked up it's fogged up again and takes a good while idling before I can see where I'm going. example last night I was out shopping, parked up popped into tesco then by time I got back it was all fogged up and had to sit in the car park idling for 5 mins waiting for it to half-clear before being able to drive off (also with my lights off too, bloody dash lights are always lit so I forget to turn the lights on hahaha)

I guess I'll get used to it, just wondered if there was something up with it or if all zed owners have to deal with it.

  6. Is this common?? Only had my zed a month now but the windows fog up /really/ quick then take a while to clear. Especially the rear window, that fogs up and well.. doesn't really clear at all. Is this normal? I know all car windows fog up  but the zed seems especially bad. I tried searching but didn't have any luck.

  7. Please don't hate me for this  but I don't really know anything about car modifications... I saw a video of a 350z with a JWT on youtube, sounds good for sure, and now I know physically what it is.. but can someone tell me why I'd want one? because I suddenly want one but have no idea why and need to justify buying one :D

I have a standard 350z, I'm not really looking into tuning or anything my only real plans are to eventually put a slightly fruitier exhaust on, and a stubby aerial haha.

So, idiots guide to why I need a JWT pop charger please? sorry to thread jack

  8. Drove my Zed in heavy rain for the first time since buying it today, it is a bit slippy slidey but if you're smooth and don't make any sudden movements it's not really all that uncontrollable. I only had it sideways once and to be honest I was going slow so put it down to an especially slippery bit of road

However, my zed is going on my dads drive when the bad weather hits, no way I'm driving that in ice, or leaving it on a road to be hit by other muppets. Unfortunately no 4x4 like last year now :( but I'll be crashing about in the Fiat Ducato to save the Zed!!

    Roll on summer....

  9. No it's the little black button in the speedo it's self, thought it would reset the trip mileage.

See my post under your first post....... press and hold and it does reset the trip computer. press it once and it flicks between trip computer A and trip computer B.

  10. here you go m8

also have a look at this, maybe you can make it..

    viewtopic.php?f=94&t=42888

Nice one cheers, I assume thats price per side and not for a pair. Will get some ordered soon and also do the penny/rubber washer trick as after searching it seems it's not meant to need two button presses and two hands to open the boot like the dealer told me :headhurt:

As for the meet, I cant make that one unfortunately but would like to make a future one as it sounds like fun :D

  11. ... The tailgate that is..... If i open the boot the tailgate won't stay up :( only happened today.

Is it a common problem ? I guess i need to replace the gas strut things that are meant to hold the tailgate up? If so any idea where to get them and costs etc?

  12. Are you sure it hasnt had an uprated/paddle clutch fitted since you had it, they are notorious for being heavy and very hard to slip so feel like they are on / off.

If the clutch was on its way out it would be the opposite and slipping.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly but how should the 350's clutch be? as mine is a bit on/off switch too and it's very heavy! Thing is though this is my first petrol car and I usually only drive vans, 4x4's or an automatic dodge ram. the van clutches are spongy as anything so I can't tell if my 350's clutch is on it's way out, normal or what.. :headhurt:

  13.

The Celica T-Sport I had, a mere 1800 cc only got 3mpg more than the Zed. I've been pleasantly surprised by fuel consumption, much better than The 2.8i Capri I had in the 80's

    Pete

To be fair, I had an L200 warrior before the zed and I think that probably cost more on fuel than the zed and obviously no where near as fun! So in retrospect the zeds fuel economy is pretty darn good!

  14. Agree on all the economy comments.

Don't buy this type of car if you are worried about fuel uasge. To be frank, and please don't take offense, its a silly question. It has a 3.5 litre V6 petrol, it will never be a frugal car, no matter how you drive it.

It'll drive you potty watching the fuel gauge all the time. Not only that you won't enjoy it.

What's the point in have a car like this if you can't open the taps when you want.

Accept it for what it is and then you will fall in love every morning when you hear that V6 bark into life ;)

    I know I do.

    Bradders.

I agree, mines just for fun .. no commuting or anything yet I still seem to watch the guage like a hawk and worry about it blah blah... I think I'm going to stick a nice big sticker over the fuel guage so I can't see it and drive until the fuel light comes on then fill up :yahoo:

  15. I think that would cost around £25-£30 a week , as its about £90 to fill up and i get around 400 miles to a tank

I must be doing something wrong as I can only fit £65 in from reserve light and getting approx 280 miles at a guess, only had it for one tank full so far and didn't work out how to reset the trip until I was at half a tank :D:lol:

Fuel economy sucks to be honest, but come on its a 280bhp sports car not a fiat panda. You don't buy these cars because they do 45mpg haha :yahoo:

  16. Hey, picked up a sunset orange 350z last week. It's my first sports car as I usually have trucks etc. (L200 Warrior, Dodge RAM) But decided to go for a car this time!!

Love it so far! Looks great, drives great ... don't think I need to tell you lot that!

No real plans for it if I'm honest I like it as it is, I want to sort the radio out though as I want bluetooth hands free and bluetooth media streaming from my iphone.. I'd imagine i'll go double din and a Sony unit like I had in the truck. (suggestions on a post card tho!) only other thing I want is some reverse sensors/camera as I'm not used to cars haha. I am seriously tempted to build a car-PC though... might start looking into that again.

Don't really have any questions other than whats the best/most reasonable kit for reverse sensors and / or camera?

For any other questions I'll do some searching before I ask too much!!

Anyway, now to the fun bit.. here she is:

04 Sunset orange, 44k miles, GT pack, Rays alloys etc etc.. pretty much mint, can't find anything wrong or even any scratches (well, not that I've found!) just needs a good clean and polish up (its shiney but not shiney enough for me haha you should see my old truck! Click here for pic
