Big mistake, grip is now terrible, same symptoms as other posts, when go over white road markings or hit water I lose grip. Grrrr. Last and only time I'll save a little on new tyres.... Was recommended by the Nissan garage to!

  2. Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone on the forums is planning to go the British Super Bikes this weekend at Oulton park? If anyone does i'll be going all 3 days with some mates. So was just wondering if anyone wants to meet down the road and drive into the track (i'm only staying down the road about 5 miles away in the chester direction). After the BSB 2nd race on sunday i'll be driving over to Barnsley if anyone is intended to go for a run in that direction.

  3. Hey guys, thanks for the input so far.

Forgot to add ECU reset had been done on the second time. When they did the ram pipe thing too apparently.

I've been driving still (not used cruise control at all) and it's been fine.

What are the chances of it not liking 50mph in cruise control? with or without the K&N airbox/intake?

Anyone seen that before? I don't fancy putting her in cruise control at 50 for a few runs again cuz the yellow engine light stresses me out :) And i don't think i have the timing or patience to reset the light myself if it does flick on agen. But same way i don't want to be in a position where it's hiding under the skin. I'm not picky :teeth:

  4. Hi,

I've got an 06 plate, 3 times this year the engine warning light has come on, no loss of power.

It's fault code P0171 fuel system lean bank 1.

First time the AA reset it for me, thinking it may have just been a fault with the sensor.

Few weeks later it came on again. Same thing, no loss of power.

I've taken it into my localish garage at Howden (Renault/Nissan).

They suggest that a connection to the ram pipe wasn't fitted properly so they corrected that and off i went again.

Another couple of weeks later it came on again same thing again.

Took it back into the garage they went through everything apparently and contacted nissan technical. They could only come up with one thing:-

The airbox. It's got a K&N airbox/filter fitted instead of the standard Nissan one. It was on before i got it. Does anyone else think this could be the reason?

I travel on the M18 every day and there has been a 50mph restriction on there for a good chunk of the motorway, when i'm on there since Jan i started to kick on the cruise control (i hadn't really used it before to be honest) and it's only on that stretch of road that the light has come on each time when cruising around 50. I say it only because its the one thing that has been consistant. But it's been spaced a few weeks apart each time, no consitancy on that part. Since i got the car back again i've not had it in cruise control going through the 50 to see if that has an affect (but i don't know this for sure).

Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated. The only advice the garage gave me was to go back to the standard airbox, which i'm not bothered about either way, just dont want the expense if i do that and it turns out not to be the reason.

    thanks,

  5. Cool i'll try that tomorrow morning. If it is pinking whats the best thing to do?

Nah haven't been changing gear in a different way, i've been taking the roads a little more cautiously with the weather but it was doing it straight from the off anyway. Haven't been riding the clutch, oh i'm not on the clutch either when i'm doing it either.

I've been looking at the ecu reset, does this sound any good?

    http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Tutorial:ECU_Reset

Also sorry for the noob quesiton again, where can i find the MAF sensor so i can check that too, i've been googling it and only see people talking about them or selling them.

  6. When you said pinking earlier I thought you were referring to a noise you heard rather than it running rough, hence the clicky axle suggestion. I've not heard of an engine pinking on deceleration before - usually on acceleration. Do you hear a 'pinking' noise? Or is it just running rough?

If it's running rough keep using the good quality fuel reset the ecu and give it a good service. Maybe run a fuel system cleaner through it. (STP total fuel system cleaner is the only one I've found to work)

How many miles has it done? Have the plugs been changed?

Erm no pinking noise, to be fair i don't know what it sounds like, was just going off something my dad said when i called him and i described it, he hasn't heard or seen what the car is doing though. Standard rev seems to run fine, it's not reving as high now when i come to a stop.

The "half second jolt" at acceleration and deceleration is still there though but not as much in gears 4 to 6 (least from what i though today when driving to town and back). In 2 and 3 it's still quite prominant. It is litterally like i take my foot off the pedal and in half a second i get a kick as it "realises" it should be slowing down, and again when i accel again i get that same jolt but in the opposite.

It was serviced just 3k ago, i'll read up more on reseting the ecu, not something i've done before. It's done 30k on it. The plus i think were changed before i got her, i'll check on that.

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_196383_langId_-1_categoryId_165750 Is that the one?

  7. Haha quality, thanks for that, was buzzin when i came back, didn't see the card till i got in the car and thought who's leafleting my car!!! Then realised what it was :)

Thats why i parks so far back too so only one side to protect.

I'll keep the card with pride :) Small world.

That place was carnage today was quiet when i got there, soon filled up.

  8. I had pinking on my zed, fitted a high flow panel filter and did ecu reset which has cured the problem. Also try tesco 99 ron fuel.

Thanks, i filled her up with shell V Power earlier (99RON) i believe. It seemed to feel better, didn't have the jolt as much in higher gears. I have been running on normal unleaded the last few fills i've done, don't know what my predecessor used. Might have had some impact recent months.

Was the ecu reset easy to do? I'll check the threads.

  9. For the Airbag lights - check all the wiring and connections around and under the seats give um a wiggle and perform the airbag reset proceedure in the guides section. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3279

Pinking ? If your getting it when your letting off as well as accelerating could it be the 'clicking rear Axle' ? Lots of threads about that. Have a look. :)

Thanks top reply i just followed the airbag reset procedure it it's stopped, will see how it does on my run tomorrow. Lots of thanks for that tip.

I'll check on the 'clicking rear axle'

    Thanks again.

  10. Hi guys,

I've had my 350z stood at my parents gaff for the last few weeks while i've been away, i came to drive it back yesterday and mid way on my drive home around 70miles the airbag warning light came on, i'm booking it into the local nissan garage for tomorrow but if anyone has any thoughts on what it could be always appreciated.

Also on the drive i also noticed what i can only think of as pinking but maybe different. Example - If i've accelerated to whatever speed and just cruise and take my foot off the accelerator thats a little jolt after half a second as in the car knows it should be easing off a bit, also the same then is when i put my foot back on the acc there is a little jolt again when it knows it is accelerating again (this is not when i'm putting any real power on just day to day driving.)

Just for a bit for information the revs are idling at 1,500, when i was slowing from second and dropping into neautral the revs would kick from 1.5k to 2k twice before idling again.

If anyone has any thoughts i'd appreciate it, i'd like to go into the garage knowing a little more :)

  11. Just picked up my Zed yesterday from Even Halshaw, it's a 2006 plate GT with just short of 28k on the clock.

They serviced it before I picked it up and have given me the option of "sevice advantage" where I can do my next 3 services with any Evans Halshaw and it'll set me back £433.45. 2 standard and one major service it would be i'm told. I can pay it in one hit or over 30 months at 0%.

I'm not to the Zed so this might be a stupid question either way but is that good? The guy said i'd be looking at around £700 roughly doing it the normal way.

  12. Thanks Ste, won't make the sunday one, going liverpool for the footy, tho i should keep that quiet these days lol.

Trafford Centre i'll check that one out.

Thanks Pete, I'm living in barnsley but from Chester originally so spend as much time over there as poss :) i'll be cruising round there tomorrow. :teeth:
