  1. Ok guys, sorry if im boring you. Now heres the reason for my questions, which according some here may consider "noob", however, i hope the forum will accept people like me who, obviously, know a lot less than you guys. Please try to remember, we all come to forums to gain friendly experience, and if we dont ask questions, how can we get answers? The main reason i am confused, is because if you go to nissans used car search, and put in used 350z roadsters, the tech sheets describe most 07's as 280@6200 rpm. Now, after asking the questions here, it appears this is wrong. I hasten to add, even some bulging bonnet ones are tech sheeted as 280@6200. Only a few of the 08 onwards are described as 313@6800, and maybe 1 of the 07's there has the 313 rating. The reason some of my hp figures were a little out is because i just kind of rounded them up, knowing the experience of members here would know roughly what i meant. I hope this helps to explain my "noobness". Thanks.
  2. Thank you 350Russ. I am seeing some bonnet bulge roadsters being listed on nissans site as 280's in the specsheet's, could this just be an error on the description's, or is it that some 280 hp engines were put into bulging bonnet models, phoning and asking does not give much information, as salesmen on the end of the phones dont always seem to be sure. The spec sheets on nissans used car locater seem to be all over the place!, many bulging bonnet roadsters are listed as 280's. Confusing.
  3. Can anyone definitively confirm that, if the car has a rev counter that redlines at 7500 it's definetly a 316, and if it redlines at 7000 it's a 280? I am having all sorts of problems getting nissan dealers to confirm the horsepower of the cars im enquiring about, and it seems some early bulging bonnet ones may only have the 280 engine in them, despite the facelift bonnet. What is the simple way to tell if it is 280 or 316? I am only looking at roadsters, not coupes, (which seems to make it even more difficult)
  4. Yeah i guess your right, and thats probably why those 370's are sitting on forecourts unsold as the first posters predicted they may be. Hopefully there still be sitting there over the next few months = a crash in secondary values= i may end up with a cheap secondahnd 370 rather than a 350. The "age of austerity" may lead to a revaluing of the book, because as a trader said to me only last week, "the book has just got to fall". If it does, and i havent a clue if it will, it may mean a lot cheaper cars on the forecourt, right. Im in no hurry, i'll bide my time till i get the right motor at the right price, hopefully a book revaluation will bring a facelift into my budget, (or maybe a 370 for a little bit more )
  5. In my experience over the last couple of weeeks of going out pretty much every weekend looking for a nice, facelifted 07 350 roadster, they dont seem to be that desperate to sell them. I have had an absolute nightmare A, finding a good one, and B, getting any sort of deal out of anyone at nissan. Even when i offer them hard cash, i just cannot get it for anywhere near the book values of the car, and to be honest, most of the nissan dealers really dont seem that bothered about letting me walk. Now, before anyone thinks im "asking the impossible", i have a car to px which privately sell around 3-3.5k, and around 12k to spend, which im ny opinion should get me a good un, right? No luck at all so far, and it's getting difficult to find any roadsters on the forecourts. They just absoloutely will not budge to do a deal thats suitable for me. I was discussing this with someone, and i havent bought a car from a main dealership for many years, but back in the 90's you could have em flipping somersaults to get your cash out your pocket, but now they just let you walk off the forecourt without a deal. Im pretty sure , judging by the way i have been treated by nissan dealers, those 350z sports cars must have people queueing up for the things, with wads of notes in there hands, paying what it's up for, cos they sure as hell arent to keen on px'ing and moving em on at a discount, so it does not appear that they are struggling to sell the 370's at all!
  6. Yeah, i know what you mean, i need to become a trader for a day (common occurence these days), and offer all those dealers trade money for there 07's. Preparing myself for not being the most popular man on the forecourt, but when it comes to buying cars, a very thick skin helps. Someone will drop, im sure.
  7. I wish i could find a cheap 08, down the southeast everythings 20% more than it is a lttle bit further up the countrys. 05 roadsters are 14-16 it seems from main dealers. I have struggled to find a cheapish newer one with the 316 hp engine, but im still hunting.
  8. I have found an 05 with 30k on it for 14k, does this have the 286hp engine in it? Does this seem to be the right money for one of these? Nissan main agent, and theyll take my old car in px (which has been a limiting factor in me getting one), advice and help appreciated before i drop a clanger and drop 14k on a 2005, not realising i may get a newer more powerful one somewhere else for less £££'s. Also, i really would prefer a uk one to an import, theres a lot of imports about i have found, and i think concerning warranty, it may be a little bit safer for me to buy from a nissan dealer with a nice warranty, as im not much of a car mechanic. Any suggestions?
  9. Haha, id love a 2007, but on my budget im gonna be lucky to get a 2006 i would say. Looking to spend no more than 14k, so if anyone knows anywhere to get a 07 roadster, with less than 30k on the mileometer, for around 14k, id love to find it!! I have been struggling to find anything on nissans used car site for less than 14k thats newer than an 05, i need to hunt harder maybe.
  10. I am posting to check some details on the power change between years on the 350Z roadster. I have been looking for one a few weks now, and looking on nissans used car site, it seems all the engine power on the roadster's is listed as 280hp, whilst im pretty sure there where 2 power changes, 1 at 2005 model year to around 300hp, and 1 around 2007 to around 310 hp. Was the power increase never done on the roadster, or is there cut off points on year of regestration for the more powerful engines to be fitted? All the ones i have seen on nissans used car site state 280hp. Just trying to nail this down so i can try to find the most updated power output in my budget.
