  1. :welcome:

i am also north east, just outside durham, there are plenty of us up here but not enough to make you feel you bought a common car, i rarely see others unless going to a meet.

    viewtopic.php?f=85&t=22083

get yourself on there and add yourself to the list.

i have the k1 with the bungs out, absolutely love it going up and down through the gears but bugs the crap outta me on motorway runs, although if you turn the music up load its ok.

I'm in North Shields. Funny you should say that about not enough to feel like a common car but I haven't seen a single 350Z in the past week since I decided to buy mine. Gotta be a good thing! Did see a yellow 370Z yesterday in Gosforth but again don't see many of them either.

I'll check out that link! Cheers!

  2. So it's Tuesday there now. Z driving time. :drive1

yep headin over to get it after work, can't wait!!! Drive back is along some of my favourite roads on the northumberland coast.

Well my dad assures me exhaust is lot quieter with bungs in but still sounds amazing! He's been keeping a check on it as he works at the dealership!

I'll try get some decent photos up asap!

  3. Can't wait to properly get used to the car, enjoyed test drive but its not the same.

Well I've just had a call to say its going to be ready tomorrow as garage are still waiting on the discs and pads coming in. Just have to be patient!

Seems to be conflicting opinions on the K1 exhaust but I guess it depends on what you like. I've always had standard cars so far but loved the sound, just couldn't hear the radio or talk that was all!

  4. Well I did my 1st post last week as I was viewing a 350z. Well I loved it and today I will be picking it up.

The Nissan dealer have fully serviced it, done a safety check, 1 year warranty and are sorting a couple of stone chips and a kerb mark on one of the alloys but it should be ready. They replaced the rear discs and pads (to be honest I thought they looked fine!)

Can't wait to collect and more importantly drive it.

It has a Japspeed K1 fitted and last owner had taken bungs out in last week he had it, so it was really loud! Sounded awesome but for my tastes too loud, especially on the motorway. Dealer assured me bungs would be put back in and it would make huge difference. I'm not totally convinced but I'll give it a chance! Any opinions??

Possibly end up swapping exhaust for something more subtle!

Another question I have is should I run it on super unleaded? I mostly ran 330ci on super but stopped recently when prices became ridiculous, can't really say I noticed any difference!

By the way I'm based near newcastle. Many Z owners locally??

Cheers again, I'm really impressed with this forum so far by the way!

  5. well i test drove the car last night and i loved it! So i'm going to go for it. Was really impressed with the way it drove and it felt rock solid. Rear visibility is pretty awful but i drive a van with no back windows regularly. It has the bose hifi, rays wheels and the orange leather, does th

at make it a gt pack?

Not sure when i can pick it up yet, its getting checked over at dealer, stone chip on bonnet sorted etc. I'm getting a 1 year warranty as well which is nice!

Ps i assume bonnet is aluminium as stonechip had no rust&bonnet felt light!

    Can't wait!!!

  6. Yup my GF is the same, I looked at alsorts but she adores the zed, plus she'll never drive it because the thought of it scares the bejeezus out of her  winner! :yahoo:

Sounds bout the same here. She won't drive my BMW cos its too powerful but reckons she might like to drive the Z!

Seems to be a few Nicks in the Z world!!!

  7. hi Nick

Cool name by the way ;-)

I had a 330cd before my Z. They aren't really comparable in 'feel'. I went from a Ford Puma to the 330, and that was a huge jump in feel. The Puma was sporty and nippy, but the BMW was a rocket ship in comparison. Particularly on the motorway, the in-gear acceleration say from 60-90 was awesome. I am not sure anything not exotic could touch it if you floored it at the national speed limit! My mate had a 330CI and it was a touch quicker from standstill, but not as quick in-gear.

Anyway, getting into the Z was another step up in feel. All of a sudden I felt I was in a proper sports car. The driving position, the dash, the raw feel, and the noise. All completely different, and made you feel you were driving something special. The BM was massively 'competent' and nothing could shake it up, but at the same time it didn't feel especially involving - in hindsight. In the Z, you feel like a driver, someone who needs skill to get the best out of it. I never felt I could screw up in the BM, no matter what the conditions. The first long drive I had in the Z was Newark to Bham in the torrential rain. I bricked it all the way. It felt like you needed skill, and it demanded respect. I am still learning now, and to me that is the mark of a real sports car, not a sanitised 'pretend' one - like the Mini on that damn bank advert.

In terms of practicallity, the BM was incredibly frugal on fuel. It was a massive shock to the system. I get around 20 in town, but 30-35 on the motorway, in the Z. The boot is ok actually, but the coat hooks are stupid and its a pain in the ass to try to hand a decent jacket up. Hey, I wear suits, it's important!

The cabin is not as classy as the BM, but the seats are better, and the driving position is also better. The dash is cool. The stereo is not as good, and can't have an ipod link plugged in, unlike the BM. This sucks. If you have the GT pack as I do, you won't miss any of the gadgets in the BMW I guess. I don't.

All in all, if I was only running one car, my life would suggest I bought another BMW after my last one got nicked. But since I have a shed of a Mondeo now, the 350Z is by far the better car in terms of the driving experience and all round hero-feeling.

Plus, I have to admit I was surprised by the attention it attracts. I hardly got any attention in the BMW, there are loads. Now, I get a lot of attention. That can be good or bad, whatever you like. I haven't experiened any badge snobbery - less than when I had the BM thats for sure.

Oh, and did I mention that my female friends call it 'the magnet'?

Enjoy it mate, you know it makes sense.

    nick

Thats really weird! I went from a Puma to my 330ci (and hopefully to a 350Z!!) Must be a Nick thing!!!

Totally agree with you that the BMW is a really competent car but just not as exciting as it could be. Its brilliant on a long trip but when you hit the B roads it could do with being a bit more involving.

Loved my Puma, it was a surprisingly quick car which I loved blasting down the local country roads in. Surprised some quicker cars sometimes!!

Made quite a good noise I thought too! Rust was the problem with Pumas though.

At the moment I'm totally sold on the 350, shame it doesn't have back seats but sure I'll cope, don't use mine that much anyway.

Also I think your right bought women liking them, its one of the few cars my girlfriend likes that I do too. I did want an M3 for a bit and she didn't see difference between that and the 330ci (running costs in a big way is one!)

  8. Hi and :welcome: how goods thats getting the car you might be buying brought home for the night

    Kev

Yeah i'm pretty pleased with that, it just came in last thing tonight so its looking like tomorrow night for the viewing, can't wait!

  9. Brilliant, all sounding good so far!

Generally I just use my car for weekend driving, no commuting and maybe a few long runs for holiday etc. Bout 7k a year as I have a company van for work.

Like a bit of a blast on most journeys but also try to restrain myself a bit too, know this will be tricky!

As soon as the car comes in stock which should be this week I'm gonna try get my dad to bring it home for the night to have a good look over and drive. I'll gets some pics too! Fingers crossed it'll all work out.

Cheers for your opinions, much appreciated!

  10. Hi everyone, I'm new to the world of 350z's.

All going well I will be buying a 350z soon, have fancied one for ages and a decent one has come up at nissan dealer my dad works for. Just waiting for it to come in stock but from what I know its an 03, 32kmiles, fdsh, in lemans sunset (think thats the colour!), rays upgrade alloys, tan leather and some kinda sports exhaust.

At the moment I'm running a 330ci and I was just wondering if anyones got any direct comparisons/experience of both?

I'm guessing the 350z likes a drink more than the 330, but can it be ok on a long run taking it easy?

Mine can do 30ish mpg if I take it steady. Generally not that bothered, just nice if I do any long trips to save bit of money.

Brakes seem bit pricier from what I've seen, tyres bout the same as I've got the 18 M sports on mine. Falkens seem to be good choice for both cars.

From what I've read I reckon servicing is cheaper on the Z than the BMW.

Z's seem to sound really nice, 330 sounds good but bit quiet and refined really!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Cheers
