I'm am reluctantly selling my Skoda Octavia which I've owned for around 3 years. It's been a fantastic economical car, and fits the bill perfectly but looking for a change. It has just been MOT'd at the end of March so almost 12 month MOT on it and at the same time a service with a oil and filter change was completed. It breezed through the MOT with no advisories. Last year it had full set of brake pads and discs and new tyres, with a full service with fuel filter, oil change, brake fluid, air fiter etc all done so the car needs nothing. The tax is due at the beginning of May. I had no intentions of selling until I got an itch after taking a test drive in a car my friend is selling the other night. It's been perfect during my full ownership and the car drives like new.

I am the 2nd owner who purchased the car in December of 2010 and as you can see above, it comes with a full service history. The car has only done 85,000 miles of which around 30,000 miles have been done in my ownership.

Being the Laurin and Klement edition it comes with full leather interior, climate contol, alloy wheels ( full size spare alloy) cruise control, electric sunroof, 6 CD multichanger, traction control, heated front seats, electric heated door mirrors, Xeon headlights and so on.

It would make a good economical daily driver for anyone returning between 50-60mpg according to the trip computer. I've never seen it below 50mpg during my ownership.

The only negatives of the car are that the passenger window does not go up or down. The motor works as you can hear it, so I would assume something minor. All other windows and the sunroof operate. There is a small scratch above the door handle on the drivers rear door. Apart from that the car is faultless and the bodywork in very good condition for its age as illustrated in the pictures.

It's the toy for weekend and spends much of its time tucked up in a garage and brought out for a play when the weather is dry.

My opinion, if you want one, buy it as a 2nd car as a toy and use at the weekends and have a shed as a daily driver.

Best car I've owned by a mile. It's a drivers car, nothing fancy, don't buy for looks, reliability, etc you buy it because it epic fun to drive. No abs, no power steering, no ac, no servo etc, just raw driving fun. Very capable on track, the fun happens in the twistes, power isn't really an issue. The 120bhp car in capable hands is as fast round knockhill as a supercharged exige with twice the power. As I say it's a car to learn how to drive and very rewarding as you progress, its a true learning experience of how to utilise the small engine to its full potential and exploit the strong point of the car I.e. you won't have much fun in a straight line if that's what your looking for.

Yep in the taxi! I was wondering if you would recognise me or think it was some idiot driving a getaway taxi. It sticks to the road well, can take the corner faster but the roll on it would make you feel sea sick. Also have shed number 2 an epic combo van for doing the house up! The van has managed 180 miles on the first quarter of the tank since filling, its a 1.7 diesel. Sheds are the way forward you are missing out!

Yeah I meant that's how it would have worked. He wanted to know what sales he could get and obviously the higher it was the lower the price then he would have given the code that you would put in at checkout

After having harnesses fitted to the Elise at the weekend, I was having a nosey at the CG lock as an alternative for the other cars in the household. I have contacted CG lock, as through my searches I noticed they do group buys.The gentleman has came back to me offering some discounts if we have a group buy. Now I don't want to waste his time if there is no interest therefore I thought I would post up and see if anyone would be interested if they were at the right price. I would say it should work everywhere that you can achieve a GPS signal. May be able to read up and find further information on this but see no reason why it couldnt be used at the nurburg.

I can think of a whole host of reasons why you should use this app. Most benificial to myself would be the plot of your route on google maps. I have been countless runs where I have found very good roads and not really known where they have been. With this app you can review your whole journey and look at your stats along the way. I think its a really handy app for the way I use my car. If I only went to work and back and the odd trip down to asda shopping then it probably isn't of any use

Can you store the stats ?

Each drive, you can store under a different name and it will be available to analysis on your phone at any time. Really handy wee app!

Got a lift on way into work this morning and decided to give it a try. Very clever little app which records various stats about your journey. The most impressive IMO is the plot on googlemaps of the route you have take and be able to scroll through to see what speed and G force values where at that particular point. It is so accurate when you zoom in on the map you can actual see where you stop to reverse park. Big thumbs up from me.....definately worth the £5 asking price.

Just heard about this little app which uses GPS technology to record location, speed, acceleration braking continuously through your journey and then outputs it on googlemaps. Looking forward to trying this and seeing how good it is as just downloaded it in work. Thought I would post up as it might be of interest to some of you.

They recommend it should only be used on track and ofcourse thats how everyone should and will use it

How do? I recognise your elise, i've seen it kicking about newarthill and Motherwell a few times, it looks nice.

Ah thanks, I am mostly over at newton mearns in it, must have been visiting my mum or dad in it as not really over that way much these days in the elise. My sunburn eventually calmed itself a few days later with no peeling!

Was good to meet other car enthusiasts and get a good bit of banter, thats what these things are all about..right?

The elise is a great car, but is a whole different kettle of fish to the 350z if your looking to jump from yours to it. To put it into perspective the S1 elise was designed on a very low budget ........I think it equates to the advertising budget for the ford fiesta that was released at the same time. The car was build on Chapmans theory of being lightweight and a great handling car.

The elise does not come with anything like the electronics and gadgets you would expect in a base model corsa...no servo assisted brakes, no abs, no electric windows, no air conditioning etc etc etc. I have also found in my 2 years of ownership that it is not the most reliable car you could choose, but thats to be expected from a 10 year old car, and its handy if you dont mind to do the odd bit of tinkering now and again. That said most parts can be purchased for a resonable amount and I have never been more than a couple of hundred to fix whatever has went wrong. Lately I have picked up the AA cover with parts and labour extension which is a really smart way to go with one of these cars and makes maintaining them pretty cheap and helps stop those suprises of big repair bills.

Few month ago I got myself a wee corsa to go to work and back and nip to shops as I believe that is best way forward with these cars. That way I dont care where I park the car, what millege I put on and when I wake up and its snowing I dont have to worry about attempting to move the elise.

I wouldnt change the car for the world though as when you hit a country road on a sunny day or take the car on track everything comes together and your left with the grin of a 5 year old on Christmas day. It is a really epic car, which will teach you the fundementals of driving if treated properly and give a real since of reward through its raw feel, and Ive not met one person who has bought one and disliked it. If you do your homework and know what to expect from the car, then you really will be rewarded with a great piece of kit. Hello! Met some of the guys off here yesterday when I turned up to the show with Craig with the black 350 so decided so jump over and join the forum
