Yes I have only full throttle mapped the compensation table, although I've done quite a bit of logging part throttle - After a bit of time on the road the self learn fueling seems to hit the target afr's on close loop driving ok without other changes, although I'm sure there are some areas of the map i've not hit yet so whether this is consistent I don't yet know.
I will put my ignition and cam maps up for critique too.

A redesign of the airbox isn't required unless you are going to do considerable work on the intake, throttle body and plenum. A clean, low resistance filter in the standard box will be best. Even a clean standard filter will yeild a couple of bhp over a very dirty one.

I'd imagine tuning a haltech would take many times longer and you would need ahigher skill level to do it. With Uprev you already have the stock ROM to work from, so only have to adjust the tables you want to. A few calcs will give you target values then do some fine tuning on the road. Dyno time is still the best and safest option to tune ignition.

The most efficient design of bellmouth, an elliptical profile with a height equal to the intake diameter and entry diameter slightly over twice the intake diameter, only yeilds 1.5% maximum mass flow over a simple radius design. The '06 design would gain maybe 0.5-1.0% maximum flow over the earlier design, so the maximum power gain could only be 1.4-2.8 bhp if maximum power was being limited by the flow of the entry, which it is clearly not.
As it has not reached maximum flow, any gain in power will be from reducing drag at the entry and the amount of energy required to draw air through the entry point. This would be in the region of 0.05 hp.

Neither of these designs are efficient, but then neither need to be, its not a restricting factor. I doubt there would even be a single hp difference.

I'll post my maps up for people to shoot at when I get a bit of time.

Tuning is just a hobby, I guess Im trying not to let years at uni studying automotive engineering go completely to waste now I'm not in an engineering role, albeit this is just playing with pretty simple stuff.

I've always given a wave to anyone in an 'enthusiasts' car, get a few waves back and had a few runs with people up the duel carrageway.
Also come from a 20VT a few years back - I loved getting extra horses from that car.

Im going to look at a Fiat Coupe turbo at the weekend
Its yellow done 85k and its only £1300.... Look a bit odd but go like stink, will be a fun stop gap till I sort out the family with a new pad all being well
My coupe 20V T is now long gone but it was still a great cheap car for me. The handling isnt great, especially if the suspension/dampers are tired, but with £2k for a car and mods you can get something very quick in a straight line, the car is easy to mod for power and the forums have loads of great info.

Yeah the sensor voltages have been calibrated to the afr in the logging software.
I haven't seen much difference using the uprev tuned throttle, I am still using it, but the logs showed WOT in all gears with the standard throttle settings anyway (Assuming I'm understanding it correctly)
Thanks for the tip on the afr in higher gears - I get to the redline in 1st -3rd quite often on the road, not so much in 4th or higher, I'll check it out.

Fitted the plenum spacer and K&N earlier, car felt no quicker and logs show very little difference.
Spent a little time tuning, this time car does feel quicker.
Logged 30-80mph in 3rd gear.
Stock 8.66s
Plenum, K&N 8.47s
Tuned 7.88s

Very interesting, still thinking about going this route myself, not decided yet.
Are you running a wideband setup?
Using the standard wideband sensors on the car.
-
You tweaking the maps yourself or e-tuning from the logs?
Any questions ask away , or mail me your logs and I do your maps at a very cheap price.
Mark
Hi Mark,
I'm editing the maps myself which seems to be producing good results. I could be tempted to have some of your maps for comparison to what I'm producing though.
Uprevs documentation isnt bad, but not great either - I wouldnt recommend the self tune route for those without some existing knowledge of what they are trying to achieve.
-
Mapping it myself. I have my first ROM to flash this morning after fitting a plenum spacer and dropping in a K&N.
-
Is that the standard map?
Yeah just editing them to say as you posted
Ah ok, didnt know you were still adding more, let me know when you are done and I'll delete the random posts
No probs, thats all for now. I will get some more posted up with spacer and panel filter fitted and after some tuning.
