  1. Thanks Guys this has given me alot of food for thought! :headhurt:

So I just need to decide what I want more:

    1. Appreciate the paint in all its glory

    2. Protect the precious paint, and have a little more peace of mind

If your happy with the work and you are going for the clear wrap, makes sense to get Taras to do it does it not?

After all he is a wraper lol.

    B)

That is who I was going to use

  2. I agree that maximuscle is a pile of rubbish. I also think the fitness supplement market is flooded with a lot of rubbish and advertising

I watched a really interesting programme a few months back (think it was Panorama) that ripped apart sports drinks and trainers, research proved that alot of the advertising claims were not actually supported by actual evidence. Which is pretty scary when these claims are the main reason we part with our hard earned cash.

The best part was Graeme Obree- 'the flying Scotsman', former cycling world-record holder and Olympic champion, who said his secret to success was bread (carbs) and jam (sugar) sandwiches, water and balanced diet.

I think alot of the results from taking supplements are physcological, we believe it works, work harder and make the most of the feel-good factor that it adds to the hard slog of training in order to keep fit, get fast and look good!

I am not completely against it as have the odd protein shake (Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard) after a work out when I'm running on empty and can't get to food quick enough. But I am concerned with number of articles that say high protein diets are bad for your kidneys because of the amount of protein they must get rid of.

The perfect recipe is to train hard and eat well :teeth:

My favourite way to get ripped in weeks is with a lot of hard work - Insanity Workout!! Dig deeper

This is spot on but there is also lots of good supplements with slow release protein for night time instead of the cottage cheese before bed route.

    Oh also

    :worthless:

I don’t want to inflict the horror of anyone seeing me after one of those workouts! :yuck:

  4. I could never park over two spaces, it’s just asking for trouble from idiots who don’t give a s*** about their car, and just want to wind you up.

So the Zed is always at the furthest end of the car park (good for burning of the doughnut calories I consume at work) next to a wall or pillar, and if all else fails next to the most expensive car possible. I have clambering out of the car when the door is a jar, keeping my modesty down to a fine art!

my personal favourite was catching a guy doing it while i was sat in the car. flung his door open and dinged my door. i got out and asked him for £100 to pat for the dent to be pulled. he told me to sod off, and its only a sodding car and i should get over it. so i put the sole of my foot into his door. you should have seen his face. " what the sodding hell have you done etc etc etc, i can;t believe you sodding done that etc etc etc, are you sodding going to pay for that etc etc etc."

my leaving comment " get over it, its only a sodding car" and drove off. i have to say i spent about 2 weeks expecting the cops to turn up and arrest me for criminal damage. and i'm still suprised they never did. but i think the guy learnt that in future to open his car door more carefully. here endeth the lesson

Love the fact you got away with this Rich! If only I had the balls, would love to to see the recipients face ;)

  5. I've seen various films on various different cars, and the following is generally true on all of them:

Yes, it's noticeable. Not from a distance, but definitely from arms length.

If it gets hit by a stone, it will mark just like paint. Not as easily, and you still have the paint underneath, but there will be a mark you cannot get rid of.

They do yellow with age, but we're talking years rather than months. With a garaged car that only came out for shows I very much doubt this would ever be an issue, as it's the UV that does the damage.

You'll never get as good a finish as you can with just paint. The shine simply isn't there.

In terms of how well it protects the paint, it does an exceptional job. It will still look battered and worn, but once you peel it off then underneath is immaculate.

I've considered it on most of my cars, and I always come to the conclusion that since a front-end respray is equal to or less than the cost of having the film professionally applied, you might as well just budget for a respray once every couple of years instead.

Thanks for this extremely helpful! It never ever crossed my mind to compare the price to the cost of respraying the front end (blonde!)

  6. My car will be attending a lot of shows next year

Don't wish to be horrrible, but maybe you should have waited till after the winter !!

    Cost of wrap ?

How good a job it does ?

    Looks when removed ?

All things to think of, but you could end up having to have it re painted for the shows next year. How long is a piece of string ????:shrug:

As stated in my post the car will stay garaged for most of the winter so the timing of the respray is not an issue, it was a now or never situation. I was thinking off having the wrap long term if it could save stone chips cracking the bumper, I know how much it costs and I think it is pretty reasonable if it works.

I was just after feedback from anyone who has used a similar product previously to help make a decision.

I was looking into getting my car resprayed and then protection wrapped and one place told me you shouldn't get it wrapped straight away. think they said to wait a few months.

Yes, I have been told to leave it at least 6 weeks.

  7. Hi All,

Having just parted with a wedge of cash getting the car resprayed I am extremely paranoid about stone chips. The car used to be my daily, however so far I have managed to kick the other half out of his Focus and on to a push bike so my car can stay in the garage :p (Not sure how long that will last with our wet winters! )

To remedy this I am considering having the front end of the car wrapped in 'Car Protect' transparent polyurethane film. I am after peoples thoughts and opinions of the product, i.e. how long it last, does it discolour in the sun, does it effect the look of the paintwork.

My car will be attending a lot of shows next year so I do not want to comprimise the deep shine & reflectiveness of the paintwork.

    Thanks

    S :)

  8. Its nice but I'm not entirely a fan of a white car combined with Alezan seats and green calipers....

Funny you should say that! I would prefer the seats in a diiferent colour also, however this won't be a priority to change as my aim is to strip it out & track spec it in a few years when I can afford my second car (The GTR  ) Think I'm dreaming! :cloud9: Far too many aims & ambitions and not enough cash! :surrender:

It's having new brakes all around and still deciding what colour to change the calipers to, black or white? Problem being I still haven't decided on the wheels  Initially I wanted Chrome Volks but I am concerned it could be too bling against the pearl paint.

i liked it in black, but im bias since thats what i have. white is my other favourite though so il let you off!!

more pics of the owner required too!! :D

    Cheeky! ;)

  9. I went to Pod yesterday and your Zed is the only picture I took as I thought it was the only picture worth taking! the pix dont show how lovely the colour actually is. Well done mate.

How LOUD was that Jet car!!!

I like this a lot! Thanks!

Insanely loud, Not hearing it for a couple of years I forgot how painful it was to listen to it!

  10. :scare:;)

    What? :p

Had to, they were running like headless chicken to get the car ready for collection next day, while I was doing my engine bay, left there after midnight, Reece was still working on it, poor guy

All the hard work paid off, as it got lots of attention at the Pod on Sunday.....Thank you :D:teeth::p;)

  11. I was having a chat with Sam Hindle this weekend all about your Zed. She stayed over with Rob ;)

She said you was on a forum but not sure which, and these pics confirm it all especially those pics from inside RT Performance.

    Looking good BTW

Hi Wasso, yes she dropped me a message but my phone battery had died, Catch has mentioned you a couple of times. B)

I haven't really been that active on here as I used to attend shows & meets with JPOC (Midlands based club) until I moved down South. Today was my first show in 2 years, and I loved my car getting some attention.

Now I have the bug again, I'll probably showing my face a little more :)

  12. Thanks a lot for the likes guys!

It's a pearlescent white, unfortunately the pictures don't do the effect justice, it's phenomenal in every light. I'm not sure what to call the colour, it was built up of layers of white and a pearlesent laquer finish that I chose from the paint suppliers. Thankfully Taras is very skilled, as he got the colour spot on with pretty much just my thoughts to go on. :teeth:

  13. Hi All,

I haven't posted on here much as I have been a bit dormant from the show scene for a couple of years, but I'm finally happy to show off my baby again. :teeth:

So heres the story so far:

So it was finally time to bite the bullet and start the journey to my dream Zed. Armed with the ideas of how she should look in my head and a lot of help from RT Performance, this is what I collected yesterday :yahoo: :

Extremely happy with the colour, RT captured what I was after perfectly! :#1: And it looks even better in the flesh

So just a few finishing touches to do:

The wheels and door handles will be a different colour, this is currently the base. Door pillars currently being carbon dipped and the tints are going back on the rear lights. Discs & Pads to be fitted.

I am hoping to get some new wheels but want to spend more time thinking about what will suit the colour and create the look I am after. So watch this space!

Thanks for taking the time to look :D

  14. I would of said me... but I was at work at 7am. I'm the only black Zed I've seen in Farnborough.... There's a few other colours around.

Which bodyshop are you using? If your ever around Farnborough, give me a shout :).

It was about 7:50am, I make the journey every Mon-Fri (Aldershot to Frimley) and never normally see them, so it made a nice change

I'm going to RT performance, can't wait. Pictures will follow! :yahoo:

  15. This was a very bizarre experience Thursday morning experience  I am lucky to see one 350z a month in my local area and then see three of the same colour on one roundabout! :teeth:

Myself in a very tatty/dirty looking black 350z Reg E13, heading from Farnborough to Frimley. A post 2005 very tidy/shiny looking 350z Reg E2!!, heading from Farnborough towards the A331, and then another black 350 coming onto the roundabout from the A331, I did not see the reg!

So if any of these were you

My shoddy looking 350 will not be shoddy for much longer! She’s heading to the bodyshop next month for a facelift and full makeover, so watch this space!

  16. Hi All :)

Just after a bit of advise....

I know the BOSE system is known for it's problems (my unit skips when cold)

However I have now noticed my passengerside door speak doesn't work when a CD is playing but works when the radio is on.

Just wondering whether somebody could confirm whether this will be a unit fault or the wiring to speaker?

I will be replacing the unit any way, but will be gutted if I do all that and still have a fault :bang:

    thankyou in advance

    Stacey

  17. Fair play to you for attempting it yourself!!! Looks great! ;)

I tinted my rear lenses with vinyl and never attempting something so time consuming again!!! Looks fantastic.....

What wrap did you use? Have had a few different opinions, everyone always thinks their product is more superior! So a bit baffled about who to use.
