  1. Is your baby staying in the community Matty? So at least you could keep an eye on it's progress.

Coincidentally, I sold it to a guy also called Matt, so he bought it with the numberplate as well. I'm not sure if he knows about the forum, but no doubt the car will turn up on "spotted" at some point from any of our members over in Southport, which is where it's gone.

  2. good shots? did you use a tripod and what settings did you use?

Yeah, I used a tripod on all these shots, with shutter speeds as long as 30 seconds. ISO was 200 on every shot to maintain the quality, and apertures were around f11. Main thing was to make sure I parked the car where there was some kind of light source on it, as the details in a black car can be lost even on the longest shutter speed.

Hope this is of some use.

  3. Very sad to report that I've sold my 370z (Zeddy) this week. However, I didn't miss the opportunity to take her for a final photoshoot in and around my hometown. Hope you enjoy the pictures.......

I couldn't resist getting myself in on that last picture!!

  4. Sorry to hear about this Matt. You must be feeling pretty gutted at the moment, but in light of recent events I suppose you should take some comfort in that it could have been alot worse!

Hope the repair goes well, I'm sure she'll be as good as new in no time matey!

  5. UPDATE....!!

I've decided to take the Zed off the market as I've sold my daily driver instead. :yahoo: Thanks for the kind support, but it looks like you're all stuck with me for some time to come!

(Mods - feel free to remove this thread from the For Sale section, thank you)

  6. What I'm more p****d off about, is the fact that the jokers added £350 onto the cost of the car for that Smartguard stuff.

Clearly that's now been removed because I've been forced to clay the car to get the paint smooth again.

If I were you I'd be demanding my £350 back!

  7. Clarkson doesn't really know what he's talking about, he's more interested in trying to be funny. If you want a proper review from somebody who actually knows about cars then look no further than all the reviews on Fifth Gear.... proper drivers who are experts in their field. Same thing happened with the 370... Clarkson kept babbling on about wife swapping, and hens and dinasours, whereas Tiff Needell gave the car a proper review, and said the 350 was one of the best handling cars he'd ever driven!!

  8. Theres "350 TOY" on ebay at mo for 3k !

    Nice plate..!!

I look at them as an investment, I paid an arm and a leg for mine, but it's perfect for me and the Zed. I'm hoping to keep it for a lot of years to come, and see what it's worth when I eventually do come to sell it... although I've restricted myself to only ever buying V6 cars until I do..!!

  9. For me, I drive around 30,000 miles a year for my work, I would hate to be doing that in the zed for 2 reasons....

Firstly, the petrol bills would be through the roof, and there's always the worry of leaving it in strange car parks with tight spaces only to return to the car to find it's been abused by the door of the car next to it.

But second, and most important, I bought the zed as a luxury, no compromise car that I can really enjoy driving. If I was using it everyday for work and general chores then I feel that the novelty would soon diminish, and I might as well have bought something sensible.

To me, the zed is an expensive luxury, not just a tool to get me from A to B.

  10. I think we should agree to disagree. I never push the Astra anywhere near it's limits, it's my work car and I drive it as economically as possible so that I don't feel guilty when I put my foot down in the zed.

All I know is that even at 40mph in the wet the car wants to go straight on when I need to turn the wheel in a bend due to the budget tyres on the front. What's the point in having the grippy bridgestones on the rear??? I'd dread to think what would happen if I had to swirve to avoid a child or something. And I don't plan on ever going so fast the the car wants to oversteer.

I'll change them round tomorrow, and if the car is worse then I'll be the first to eat my words.

  11. Wrong wrong wrong.......

I dont care what anyone says, Im swapping the tyres round on my FWD Astra so the good ones are at the FRONT!!! Oversteer can be corrected, and only happens if your going too fast for the conditions. Understeer is dangerous and uncontrollable, and happens even at low speeds in the wet if the front tyres aren't as grippy as the rears. Not to mention losing steering control if the car was to aquaplane, and impaired braking!

    Simple!!!

  12. In an FWD car the front wheels are doing the driving, braking and steering. The rears are just going round a bit. Why the hell would you not want your best tyres on the fronts??

Agreed!! That was my point entirely!! Also, I think it's safe to assume that everyone does adjust their driving to suit the conditions, surely that just goes without saying. I was just looking for an answer as to why some people recommend putting new tyres on the rear of a FWD car!

  13. Also new tyres should always go on the back of fwd cars.

My shed, an Astra 1.7 diesel, has budget Avon tires on the front and a pair of very new looking Bridgestones on the rear, and I have to say it's fine in the dry, but in the wet it understeers like a b#^%*, and feels extremely dangerous, even at low speeds, and especially under braking which is when you need the grip the most.

I haven't got around to swapping them around yet as I've not had the car long, but I imagine that having the newer grippier tyres at the front will make it much safer.

You have to excuse my naivity as I'm no mechanic, but what, if any, are the advantages of putting new tyres on the rear? Surely the rear wheels on a FWD car serve no purpose other than to make up the numbers?!!

  14. Exactly same thing happened to me. I pulled over into the services for a sleep and got slapped with a fine for outstaying my welcome. After 3 threatening letters, all of which I ignored, they finally stopped persuing the fine. These fines are totally unenforceable, and unacceptable in my opinion..... surely that's the whole point of a motorway services?!! Just ignore the letters, there's nothing they can do.
