  1. My 350Z sounds like the exhaust is broken when the engine is on idle. It's not a loud sound but there is something different. The exhaust is good and I'm told the gaskets are also good. There was an idea of vibrating fuel lines. You cannot hear the sound out side of the car due to the engine, but you can hear it from the inside. It seems to come from the front centre around the centre console region. The car works fine but the sound is very frustrating. Any ideas? As anyone had a similar sound to this? David
  2. Hi, What do you think the all in cost for the following should be (seperate prices). 1. Exhaust manifold gasket replacement 2. Inlet manifold gasket replacement This is for an 04 350Z UK model. Thanks, David
  3. Yes, I still have. It's waiting to have the inlet manifold gasket work done. All I want know is a way to tell someone senoir at Nissan about my problems, but as with all customer service in big companies the people on the phones have no power to think out side of the box. In my business (software) I ensure all customer I work with are happy and help them all the way.
  4. Dear Moderator, You kind of sum up well but the car companies should be doing a better job. People's views are here are a bit one sided as you all own the car. Human nature makes it hard for us to say we made a mistake, buying a 350Z for me was a mistake and I should have added 5K and got a caymen or boxster. A car that has been adjusted over the years will not have so many build issues. The 370Z i'm sure will be a much better car as they will have fixed all the common problems, even the 06 350Z is better than the orginal as some of the common faults have been addresses. Being first in means you become a long term tester for their next platform. That is the biggest mistake I made and I had to pay to be that tester. And remember guys, when that red light starts flashing for the air bag make sure you come down hard on nissan customer services.
  5. To close off this thread I have a couple of comments: 1. Mine was one of the first so I hope you don't see the same over the coming years. 2. A powerful car should have more engineering, that is why it costs more to buy. 3. Nissan customer service, like all big companies don't care about the end user. 4. Why do we accept that car dealers are allowed to provide poor service. Good luck with your cars and have fun
  6. About 50/50. The big ticket items that were out of warranty: Exhaust Inlet manifold gaskets Driver window motor Passenger air bag Power steering pump
  7. A few guys have said 7 years is a long time to own a car. If you bought a ford focus would you expect the air bag to need replacing within the first 4 years? The 350Z air bag is a £600 part. I would expect the air bag to last until it explodes in a crash May be my standards are high, but the dealers are low and that has not been a good mix for me.
  8. I was on the first waiting list for the car, so there was no history. My lesson is never buy a car that is generation #1 from new. Buy a used car that is generation #2 or #3. I think a Cayman revised model is the sensible thing to buy next.
  9. I thought about parking outside of the dealer with a list of its faults on the windscreen. I think after they have lost a number of sales they might make me a good offer for the car.
  10. Hi guys, I have a 350Z GT from new 2004. It cost £30,000 and here is my list of problems Poor dealer network (franchise in the midlands) Poor build quality, rattles and dash board replaced Dealer not adding oil after service Dealer leaving tools in the foot well Dealer changing the windscreen and padding it with carpet and not telling me Inlet manifold gasket failure at 50,000 miles Exhuast snapped in 2 at 40,000 miles Air bag failure at 35,000 miles Power stearing failure at 60,000 miles 2 full sets of wheel due to delamination Customer services changing mind on good will promise 4 CD players changed Passenger window motor failure Driver window motor failure Clutch worn out at 50,000 miles Fly wheel damaged by clutch at 50,000 miles Over all I would never buy another Nissan. Any suggestion about how to get my story out to millions of people. It has now reached a stage where I wish to cost them millions in lost sales for not taking my problems seriously. David
  11. It went to the dealer as it needed a service at the same time. They also said the rubber hose, but wait for this bit! The guy at Westway Nissan told me the alluminium pipe that is connected to the rubber hose needs changing as it was porus. What a pile of C^&P. I phoned Nissan customer services and I'm waiting for a call back to see what happens. I'm not naming and shaming the dealer yet, I want to see what Nissan tell me directly then I will update you. But a good tip is to phone Nissan if you ever suspect the dealer is pulling a fast one and let them come down on them like a ton of bricks.
  12. Hi Guys, I have an 04 350Z from new, I have not used it for many months and I fired her up today. The steering made a horrible noise and on full lock then the wheel judders. I then noticed an oil leak from the front of the car (centre). I assume something in my power steering has gone but I'm no expert. I assume the power steering has some oil (the oil is thin and not like engine oil). The thing that puzzles me is the car also makes a "turbo" noise (it has no turbo!) when I rev the engine. Does the engine speed have anything to do with the power steering and it's internal pressure? It will be off to the garage tomorrow but my dealer is rubbish and I want to get some tips before I go and see them. Thanks, David
