  1. Another vote for WIM (although they are only 2 mins from my office!)
  2. Thanks Grant, I left him a vm on Thurs/Fri.
  3. Mark, Was talking to Scott last week and he said you were the man to ask for advice - could you drop me a line and let me know when you're free to call? Thanks, Alex

    MPG

Driving back home from Birmingham recently and I got 32mpg from a tank. Makes the 19mpg I get going to and from work even more depressing!
  5. Will definitely get a remap at some point, but I'm not fussed on extra power at present. After an exhaust I'll probably look to spend some money on the interior - the driver's seat is looking a little sorry for itself! Was just speaking to Scott from Abbey Motorsport (what a nice man!) and he re-iterated what just about everyone has said which is to get along to a meet. Just need to find one near me now (Watford/North London) - are there any coming up? Cheers, Alex
  6. Hi Biscuit: budget up to £1,500-ish, but the less I spend here the more I can spend during the summer on some coaching/track time. Glenn: thanks for the advice on fitting. Unfortunately I'm from the Jeremy Clarkson school of mechanics - there's nothing that can't be fixed with a big enough hammer and shouting! Cheers, Alex
  7. Thanks Biscuit, I'll just use that as an excuse to blag some rides! As far as power goes, I don't particularly need any more so just the noise thanks! Still like the bark from the HKS, just need to get my head around the price... Still got no idea how much installation will cost either, but I'm guessing £150 or so?
  8. Funnily enough that's the only one mentioned that I can think has failed on more than one members car. Really? Was there a common cause? I'd have thought that the Nismo build quality would have been at least equal to the others.
  9. I have heard similar Ian, it is actually a US specific exhaust system. However I have seen 2 members, I think both on here, that have got these systems from Sumo Power and had them fitted. I did enquire about one of these through Mark at Abbey and he said he wasnt sure if they would fit though. I emailed HKS Europe on Thurs and got a reply back today: apparently the True Dual (part no. 32009-AN002) will fit a UK car; it seems as though there is a similar part for USDM cars (part no. 32009-BN001) that will not fit UK cars without modification. Problem is that after all that I'm concerned that the HKS system is going to be too loud for me in everyday use (87db vs 80db for a std car). The 5Zigen ProRacer SP is Jasma-compliant at 92db. What an old woman!
  10. Your insurers have reviewed the information you submitted in your proposal and have offered to provide you with cover at £x premium based on that info. Anything that changes the car (consumables aside) changes the risk (although I doubt anyone's going to get excited over a set of mats, for example) and should be disclosed. If not, your Insurers might decide that the car in it's current state is not the one they thought they were covering and decide not to cover you in the event of a claim. AFAIK, small cosmetic changes shouldn't make any difference to the premium - but it depends on which insurer you're with. HTH, Alex
  11. Yes, it's a '54 plate UK GT. It would be a shame if it didn't fit because I really like the sound of the HKS, although I'm worried it might be a bit too loud for every day (I want to keep something that's quieter than my previous car, an Impreza WRX). How would the 5Zigen compare in terms of volume? Also, I think I've discounted the Nismo - just doesn't sound aggressive enough nor does it sound that different from standard. I definitely need to get to a meet!
  12. Looks like Top Secret visited Baker-Jackson Nissan in Houston to mod some cars: http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-photos-spyshots-video-media-gallery/16821-top-secret-japan-visits-houston.html

  14. Sorry Ian, I don't follow. Is Steve/Mr Lizard a HKS stockist too?!
  15. Thanks for the input! Whilst I don't want something that's so loud it'll become tiresome to drive (although I mostly drive the same 18-mile round-trip every day), I do want something that sounds more aggressive than the std. system. I think I'm leaning towards the HKS True Dual if I can get a good deal: am I right in thinking that I'd get better power gains from a TD exhaust than with a single pipe? Thanks, Alex
  16. Dammit! My car did exactly the same thing yesterday evening. Re-started the car and have no loss of power, no other warning lights and all levels are fine.e Car maybe sounds a little rough (I put it down to hypochondria!) and is going back to the dealers on Thursday. How annoying!
  17. Hi all, Apologies if this has been done to death, but is there such a thing as a poorly-made system nowadays? I'm trying to decide whether or not I need a new exhaust and which one to go for. Fortunately, after using the reliable medium that is YouTube, I've narrowed it down to either a Nismo, 5Zigen ProRacer SP or HKS True Dual - easy peasy! However, I was wondering if there was a real difference in build quality and actual performance between comparable systems? Is one manufacturer regarded as better than the rest? Is one worst? Best, Alex
  18. How come I can't see any tyre marks on that level - you did take advantage of the opportunity, didn't you?
  19. Was quoted £399 all in for a P3 service by WLMG Mill Hill.
  20. How about a note on the windscreen? Something along the lines of 'You bang my car, I bang your Mrs'? Maybe borrow a mate's van/old nail and park it there for a few days. Repay the favour and see if they say anything.
  21. Hi all, thought I should register and say hello! Have been lurking for a couple of months; bought my Zed 4 weeks ago today. Will add some details to my profile (when I work out how!), but it's a '54 plate GT in Sunlit Copper, Alezan interior, etc. Cheers, Alex
