  1. Hi all.

Am thinking of refurbing my rays and having a colour change at the same time. I was wondering if anyone has a picture of a GM 350 with gunmetal rays alloys?

Im not sure if it would be a bit too samey or not, but cant think of any other colours that i would choose, so if anyone has a pic it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. Interesting replys.

As my exhaust is still in good condition i dont think i will change it. It seems like a lot of you dont think there is a lot of change in the sound inside the cabin, and i am not thinking about doing it for the benefit of others (ie those outside the car)!

I may well change my mind again tomorrow of course....

  3. I also had this setup when I bought my car.

I'm not big on extremely loud exhausts and think the sounds is perfect (heavenly even :cloud9: ).

All I can say is DOOOOO IIIIIITT!!

Thats just with the back box?

The thing is, the std system has quite a nice sound to it (UK), which is why im always interested to hear peoples before and after impressions. I would just like the exhaust system to be a bit more audible at higher revs. It sounds great between 1.5K to 2.5K or so.

    Thanks for your thoughts :)

  4. Hi all.

I'm wondering how much the volume & tone of the exhaust note changes with just the above mod? I have been tempted to change my back box from the std UK one for some time, but cant really justify the cost of the Y pipe as well (as its purely for the sound).

I have listened to countless Youtube clips but they are not easy to judge, and i always struggle making meets.

So if anyone can give me an honest view on whether it is worth making the change on just the back box, or whether you really need to do the Y pipe as well it would be much appreciated

  5. this shouldnt be the case anthony  ...i have been using them hard on my own rx7 for a number of months now and feel no difference or vibrations through the steering. likewise with 2 local drifters putting them through their paces front and back

i made sure they were properly proper tight on ( actually had to keep going over the tightning pattern 3 or 4 times on each nut ) to make sure it was totally unmovable

i didnt use it, but perhaps some loctite i think its called, may help also?

Dont get me wrong, its nothing to do with qualiity. The spacers are of exceptional quality. I torqued the nuts to 115nm so they are dead tight :) Its more the effect of moving the wheels further from the steering axis/struts that I suspected may make a difference, which would obviously be the same for all spacers.

Im always paranoid about changes like this, and was keeping an ear / eye etc out for any change in ride quality & feel but i have not felt any detrimental effects. Obviously different people will have different standards though.

  7. I have just fitted 20mm front 25mm rear to mine last weekend. They look good and really fill the arches well.

I bought 1 pair 2nd hand from here (eibachs) and 1 pair from mwtech (on this forum). When held up side by side the eibachs are of a higher quality imo but the others are cheaper and seem to do the job perfectly well.

  8. Its true, i have read so few threads on this board relating to engine problems of any type. The higher mileage is more likely to cause issue on suspension components / interior wear etc than harming the engine..... touch wood!

  9. No, not really, you have to trust the measurements for the holes and then with the light clusters out you can reach the sensor wires really easily, I took the sensor cables through the rear central rubber grommet which lets the number plate lighting cable through. Once you're inside the rear load space, go left with the cabling after having taken the spare wheel cover out and you can lose the cable under the plastic trim. Let me know if you need to know anything else matey,

    Thanks mate, will do!

  10. Nice work posting up that guide. Interesting to hear the bumper does not need removal. When i asked about this a while ago i was told it would be much easier to remove the bumper first.

Did you find it difficult to work around?

  11. If you are not too fat/tall or old an MX5.

I'm 6'3" and fitted in to a Mk1 fine, but found the driving position in a mk2.5 hopeless (eyeline level with top of windscreen) due to the heated seats.
