  1. Hi Guys Thanks for the help, managed to splice in to the wires and solder up and hey presto it actually works!! Doesnt look to bad when it's all in so really pleased thanks!
  2. Hi All Purchased all the kit from sexton's as recommended in the other threads to fit a new JVC double din unit. Very dissapointed with the quality of the fascia plate as the gaps are huge and it just doesnt look right to eyes. Anyway i have more of an issue with the adaptor, the instructions are a bloody joke to be honest. It doesnt make clear whether im supposed to splice some wires together into the 16 pin adaptor, or remove the old ones and fit these. In addition it says there are t-tap connectors included ?. firstly , there are no connectors of any sort included in the pack, secondly, i located the 16 pin connector and found it has far more wires going into it than shown on the instructions (shown below). Am i supposed to remove the wires , fit some sort of connector pin and refit, or am i supposed to remove them and splice together with the new white grey and purple wires coming from the adaptor and shown in the pic? To make things more confusing the colour of the wires on my UK spec car are different to the colours belonging to the 16 pin connector in the instructions! Any help would be appreciated!
  3. I like the K1 but im not sure i like the large cans. Im looking for volume with discreet looks if possible!
  4. Hi Chaps Been listening to various clips of exhaust's to decide which one to fit on my car. Realistically the Scorpion and japspeed k2 are the only ones in my range. Really like the raspy tone of the Scorpion but noticed people don't fit y-pipes with them typically. Is there a reason why it wouldn't fit a generic y- pipe, and more importantly would the volume difference be noticeable ?, would it be louder than a K2 with a y pipe ? I know i need to go along and listen to some but im impatient! thanks!
  5. Thanks for the comments guys! I haven't got a photo of it yet with the GT40 as it's suffering from a faulty electronic ignition but should manage that soon. As for getting into it, yes it is difficult , im 6ft 2 and it's tight. Basically the seat on a 40 has quite a rearward rake to it , so actually headroom is just about ok, i miss the roof by about 1 inch!. The problem is foot room. I've cut away some of the dashboard moulding underneath to get my knees under ok, but you need to wear race shoes to have any chance on the pedals. I built the pedalbox myself from an old triumph spitfire box modified and have moved it as far back as i can in the footwell. Im getting some new seats soon which have a fibreglass shell instead of a frame, that makes them a bit thinner and will give me another inch or too , which is always welcome!! . As i said im driving to Le Mans in it in the summer so really need to lose a bit of bit of weight and length!! To be honest when you are in it and you hear a virtually unsilenced small block ford open up a few inches behind your head , your ears have more pain than your body!!. But thats the way i like it !! I took a photo with my VX for a comparison. I was asked for a comparison between the two, and they are certainly very different but exciting in different ways. The VX has a stage 2 tune so it has 250bhp and 255 lb/ft torque at 2,700 rpm. It is without doubt the best allround sportscar you can buy for reasonable money and run on a budget. It's blows Elises and Exiges into the weeds with all that torque and is fabulous around a country lane. It has a better ride quality than my Zed (but i do have 19's which i guess doesnt help) yet it's great around a track , i go to the ring every year and regularly do Silverstone , Mallory and Combe. My Zed is of course slower, especially off the line due to the huge weight difference, but the zed has a nice steering response and great body control, and doesnt feel too sloppy next to the VX. It does feel a heavy car but that's not a negative comment, i like the solidity and it sounds miles better than a turbo 4 pot ever will. (even better when i get an exhaust!). My zed will be my everyday car as i now have a job on my doorstep and don't need a diesel anymore. To sum up i would say the Zed feels special at 30 mph just cruising and the VX feels special when you are wringing it's neck! If anyone here is thinking of their next sportscar i couldnt recommend one highly enough but getting in an out on a daily basis is a bit of a pain especially with the roof down. Great car though.
  6. ok guys some pics! The GT40 has taken 18 years of my life so far and still being perfected!, just built and fitted a new Ford V8 331 stroker engine with about 350BHP but a lot of low down torque around 350lb/ft at 2,500 rpm. As it only weighs 1 ton it really shifts and the noise it makes is to die for! It's incredibly cheap to run, kit car insurance is so cheap, i pay only £260 per year fully comp. I service the car myself as it's only 1960's technology plus it's going up in value!. Mind you it only does 10- 15 mpg but i dont really care i only really use it for shows. Im driving to the Le mans classic with my dad in the summer. I will be in convoy with 8 other GT's from the midlands club so that will be quite special i think! Total build cost is probably in the region of around £25K+ but that has been spread over 18 years so no worse than a bad Smoking and drinking habit but just as addictive!
  7. Hi Everyone and Ross! Well im the lucky new owner!, had a hell of a drive to get it, try a near 500 mile round trip in the snow and ice!. Sometimes though you just know a car has got your name on it and within 10 minutes of seeing this gorgeous car for sale i was putting an offer in! Just can't believe people wanted to pass on this because it didn't have slippy saggy seats and a dodgy sound system?, oh well !! Have to say my instincts were right , it was everything i hoped and more. It looks amazing on my drive and it had it's first full wax and detail today in the freezing cold!. It joins my VX220 Turbo and GT40 replica and feels as special as either of them, so it's going to a good home! First on the shopping list is an exhaust system, so might have to come to some meets and see what sounds better between a K2 and a Scorpion. Thanks again Ross the car is a credit to you and i hope i can keep it up to your standards. I did feel terrible driving it away from you (well for the first 30 seconds anyway!) cheers! jason
