you boys are harsh - i've already asked them if they'll take 13.5k and they said yes,

can't really go back and ask for further reduction...i fear they won't sell it to me at all out of spite!

them a dealer? Just ask mate it wont hurt anyone...

no it's a private sale mate

  3. If you can get the price of the UY down then I'd go fo that. They have the same engines so all your really paying for is the interior....buy the azure and your just gonna have a run off the mill standard zed.................

yikes..i think they will send me packing if i try and chip them on £13.5k

because it's already come down 1k on the original advertised price

and the GT4s are all around the same kind of price

  4. You know what I would do if I were you...

Stick with your original choice (UY). Go and ask the owner to see it and if you fall in love with it, make an offer - the azure one will fly out the window because you'll be chuffed with the yellow.

If however you decided after seeing the UY it didn't live up to expectations, let the owner know you have another to see before committing and go see the blue one.

Job done. Just don't mess the current owners around if they are private sales.

(From my own past experience if I choose my second after thought, I end up thinking "what if I had chosen my original choice" even if everything is still ok).

sounds like good advice, i think we're both thinking along the same lines.

i'm sure the pearl yellow in the flesh is going to be stunning

  5. well if i'm not really gaining anything from the 2006 except a one year newer

car on paper, seeing as they've both done similar miles, i may as well

go for the GT4 and save some money i think.

i would have expected both of those cars to hold their value relatively.

most seem to think the GT4's will do better

  6. well so far the vast majority of replies favour the yellow GT4, which is in line with my original opinion before i test drove the azure

but the one i drove was a 2004 not a 2006...anyone think the newer 2006 has any real advantage over the GT4

seeing as i have driven neither model, is there any real noticeable difference to the driver?

  7. Thanks for all the advice, i think i'm leaning back towards UY.

Part of the pull of the azure car was that it was a 2006 and of course

you always want the newest car you can get.

Are the GT4's uk spec only?

A guy is selling what he calls a jap import UY GT4

Is that going to be a jap import painted to look like a genuine GT4

or did they actually make them in japan?

I notice the little boot fin is missing in his pictures

  8. I'll try and refrain from saying blue.

To be honest, these were the two choices I had about a year ago with mine. The depth of azure blue when fully waxed and polished is amazing and doesn't look too bad if dirty (although when clean it really does stand out).

The thing I would consider is how much attention do you like?

My azure brings a lot of attention to itself (although this will be due to my mods and so on as well). I can only imagine that a yellow zed would bring more. Simple things like parking it up will pretty much always get looks and maybe the odd comment (so far all good ones), although you only have to get one person to ruin it when you're away from it. :(

Will you be parking it in a car parks? If so, the yellow one will draw attention to itself much more than the blue (I'd of thought). It's kind of hard not to see a bright yellow sports car.

Filling it up at the petrol station makes kids point and wave and I even had a bloke come over and start chatting and taking photos of it. This was with a fully polished up Azure. The Yellow will bring more attention.

Then again if its the right attention ("ohh..nice car mate") then all is good (go with the yellow). However yellow may be a big light bulb to unwanted attention (go with the blue).

They are both awesome colours. The yellow is rarer but will attract looks and attention (perfect, if this is what you want - but simple things like parking may start making you paranoid in certain areas). At first lots of attention is fantastic, but it can get tiring when you just want to do simple things like pop into Sainsbury's quickly for a loaf of bread.

    Goodluck with your choice! :)

I take all those points on board, don't mind the attention, I'm used to it with the what I drive now so it's not a problem.

I tend to stay away from public car parks where possible anyway.

Interesting that you think the yellow will bring all the attention and that blue won't be as bad, I tend to think they would

both bring attention! But yeah, i take the point that the yellow is more lary

  9. I've been deliberating on this for a few months now..

I have been offered an ultra yellow GT4 and I thought that was the car for me, as everyone here knows, it's a fairly exclusive colour and has all the extras etc

    and is cheaper tax etc.

Then I went and test drove a blue one. Big mistake.

The test drive was pretty thrilling, I currently own a V6 twin turbo 300zx which is not a slow car as we know, but the 350 put a smile on my face,

just a lovely driving experience. I had dismissed the Azure blue, but when you see it in the flesh it really does look lovely. So now I'm infatuated with

getting a Zed in that colour. Well to be honest I can't decide which I like better between the yellow and the blue. I haven't seen the yellow in the flesh yet though.

I've noticed a lot of the blue's for some reason don't seem to have the GT pack so it's been harder to find a good one.

However, I now have the chance of a blue 2006 GT pack as well as the yellow GT4 2005.

2006 model will cost me more money on tax i know that but what will a 2006 car offer me over the 2005 GT4?

The engine specs are a bit different but are they noticeably different to the driver? I expect your 2006 GT pack has everything that your GT4 has?

They are both immaculate cars on similar miles approx 22,000, how on earth do i make a decision?

I keep telling myself I should go for the more exclusive ultra yellow colour because I know i'm unlikely to see one on the road, whereas azure blue

is not as rare. That's the only sense I can make of it. I should never have gone for that test drive...!

  10. i don't really understand the thinking behind removing the badge...

why just take off the 350z badge? why not take off the nissan badge then?

or why not take them both off lol?

    don't see the point of just removing 350z - who buys a 350z and doesn't want anyone to know it's a 350z!

  11. guys, what would you think if you went to look at a 2005 zed

with FSH, excellent paint & alloys, genuine reason for sale etc,

    people seem very genuine etc

but one thing sticks out...the 350z badge is missing from the boot

the car apparently has never been in an accident or had a repair (although i haven't HPI'd it yet)

the owner (a lady) does not know why that badge is misssing but she is the second owner so

it's likely they bought it that way.

to my mind, that car has either had the boot lid replaced due to a smash

or re-painted at some point and the badge not put back. They don't fall off do they

and it's a UK car etc so what other reason is there for that badge to be missing?

It's stock by the way, no body or mechanical mods

  12. am in similar position as you, looking to buy a zed but have options on S2000 and a monaro in fact.

all slightl different yet similar in that they are desirable cars for similar budgets.

S2000 i can get a better deal on because the zeds are fetching better money,

but, i feel the zed is a more 'masculine' car, at least in the looks department.

I also feel that with the zed you get more for your money. These are my impressions

having done as much research as possible...without actually having bought any of these cars just yet.

  13. Nice photos Dave

but you have yours nicely tucked away in a garage so no problems with wind blowing

off the cover etc, i would have to keep mine outside.

I would have loved to have kept it looking in the same condition as yours but i fear

    outside i have no chance.

will have to do what the guys have suggested and just keep it polished and waxed

    probably every week i think

  14. Dont skimp on the wax to protect then chap and there is a member discount on paintshield if you can stretch to it which may help.

i'm intending to do a lot of waxing ;)

what is the paintshield product then?

  15. the tape deck is extremly useful as a cheap ipod connector. i use one of those tape converter things and get pristine sound quality out of it.

    How exactly does this work?

I'm really surprised that people are not taking the tape decks out...or is it impossible because it's built in to the centre console etc?

Also surprised about the number of complaints regarding the CD player, are people not replacing these for something better?

  16. Car has to be clean - dirt could get stuck on the inside otherwise and the action of the cover shifting slightly in the wind will make it rub slowly and could scratch the paintwork.

Personally I would only bother if you intend to lay your car up through bad weather as otherwise you have to wait till a dry day to wash it before you can cover it again.

They do work - but may not be worth the hassle.

Yeah, I'm having second thoughts about it.

Basically the car will be used regularly but not everyday, so i was hoping i could keep it relatively

clean by covering it after i've used it, just so the shitty weather doesn't make it dirty while it's

    parked.

But the reality i suppose is that you can't really cover it up directly after using it on the road

so it's not really any good for regular use i don't think.

    Thanks everyonr for the advice
