  1. Thanks for all the messages!

CaptainSensible - Black & Black, definitely the best combo! Funnily enough the Pug we picked up yesterday is also black & black!

No bronzee, no confusion! What a pleasure to drive, the car really does sell itself hey!

Yes Nixy, definitely roll on Saturday, I can't wait! At least I get a nice long drive home from Shepperton to Devon to become acquainted with her! :drive1

They certainly made me work for the deal, but eventually we agreed on £15,100 with the warranty, tax, a full tank of petrol, and they're going to refurb the alloys. To be honest the wheels were pretty tidy with some minor scuffs on a couple, but they volunteered the refurb before I'd even mentioned it, so I was hardly going to refuse! Overall the car is really tidy. There was one slight scratch, and some finger-rubbing behind the door handles, but pretty minor and I think a good polish will reduce these even further. The interior is spotless, like new.

If you can't already tell, it was very much love at first sight

  2. It feels like ages since I posted my introduction. I've been looking for a suitable Zed since, though I've also been moving in with my g/f and helping her get her new car (Pug 206 GTi 180, picked it up today). We got her pug from near Guildford so I took advantage and went to look at a loverly black 05 plate Zed at Shepperton Nissan today. This was also my first chance to actually drive one!

You won't be surprised to hear that I fell in love while driving the car. Nic also took the car for a drive and gave it the thumbs up (apparently still not as good as her new Pug though, of course!).

The deal has been done, the deposit is paid, and I'm collecting it on Saturday! Needless to say, I'm a bit happy ;)

I'll get some photos up some time after I've collected it, but here's a photo from the dealer's website:

  3. I have T-Mobile G1, the original android phone, and my contract includes unlimited data.

My girlfriend has the iPhone 3Gs and I have to admit there are times I wish I'd gone down that route rather than android, but other times I see limitations on the iPhone that I don't have and prefer what I've got. And I really don't like the on screen keyboard, especially in portrait orientation.

If you're anything like me, you'll like whichever you get, but that won't stop you having that "grass is greener" feeling when you see someone with the other one! ;)

  4. if you want more power and a v6, then try the golf R32, but my money would still be on the Zed,

Yeah I've had a good look at the R32. Came to the conclusion that it's real nice, but its a lot of money to spend to end up with a Golf.

I'll keep looking around for a 350Z locally, so that I can take my kit and see how it fits in the back, but it looks like it would be ok.

Thanks for the welcome messages and advice everyone, I'll keep you posted on the z-hunting. And for now I'll check out what people think of the Bose system and what's involved in replacing the normal head unit.

  5. Where I live we always look left, look right and look up before crossing the road. ;)

LOL, I hope you don't get too many people landing in the roads! If I ever come to jump at Cark I'll look out for your Z on my way back down to earth ;)

Golf mint be good but how many do you see against Zeds........ exactly ...... decision made

That's one of the arguments Nic (the other half) put to me recently, and its a fair point.

One of the cases for the VW is that they're holding their value so well. How's the 350 doing on this front? I know I'm finding it hard to find any bargains around here for what I want (prefer an Azure Blue GT, second choise would be Gunmetal Grey). However my poor Celica's value has fallen in the last year faster than I fall out of the sky!

  6. you wont want to waste time jumping out of perfectly good planes

You've clearly never seen our 'planes ;-)

    Thanks for the welcome messages!

If I'm just going to the dropzone for the day, I have a large rig bag and a kit bag with helmets, jumpsuits, etc.

As it happens I'm heading there soon so I'll grab a photo of it...

I usually have a small bag with clothes and overnight stuff too. I've been spoiled with the celica... even without folding down the rear seats its got a decent sized boot, especially for a sporty coupe. I can even put my mountain bike in the boot with the seats down. Well it doesn't look right putting a bike rack on the back of a sports car does it...

  7. Just a quick message to introduce myself and say hello. My name's Rob, and I live in Somerset not far from Taunton.

So a bit about me and cars...

I currently drive a 52 plate Toyota Celica T-Sport. Its mostly stock, I'm not a big modder. I'm looking to change it soonish, and its really between a Golf GTi and the 350z. The practical side of me that has to carry skydiving gear is thinking Golf... the coupe loving heart in me wants a RWD V6 with the lush looks of the 350z. My girlfriend thinks I should either keep the Celica or get the 350Z... she likes a "looker" and thinks I'll never really be happy with a Golf. She's probably right, but we won't admit that to her... ;)

So I've been lurking on the forum, trying to get a feel for the car from people that already own it. My main concerns are fuel consumption, and luggage space for my skydiving kit.

    So that's me! Hi!
