  1. Yeah - it's annoying the CCTV doesn't cover that side of the car. I've since moved the car on the advice of hotel staff so I'm directly under the camera by the front car - I'm not putting it past him to have a go when he's back from his dinner! I'm hoping it's not a lot to repair that top mark but it's on the seam and I don't know if that makes it harder to fix? We'll find out tomorrow what Elephant say, you're right I don't want to affect my no-claims at all but I would have hoped it'd be off his insurance! Just couldn't believe how rude he was - at least his wife had the decency to look embarrassed at his behaviour, shouting his mouth off.
  2. Hi all, Parked in Bannatyne Hotel carpark - been walking past the car to/from spa today, every time checking the doors. Came back from spa to find different car next to mine and a load of damage to the passenger door!!! Hotel has checked the CCTV and it's a bad angle to see, but he's the only car to have been next to mine since we had checked it last. The marks all line up to his door and there is some of the scrapped off paint stuck on his door still! We happened to still be around downstairs when we saw a couple leaving, I watch from the reception and see he's the owner of that car - so I go and ask him (politely) if he had seen the damage done to my car. His instant denial response and subsequent abuse made it obvious he knew what he'd done, and he was insisting the damage didn't line up by opening his door and trying to hit my car again - ignoring the fact that he and his wife were not yet in the car as they would have been when they originally opened it! He refused to discuss the matter getting more and more abusive until driving away. I have full photos of the damage and of his car and of his car next to mine and with his door open on mine (not quite lining up because he wasn't in the car; no offense but they weren't petite and you could see as each of them got in that the front of the car lowered each time). Given his refusal to discuss and his increasing belligerent manner, I said I would go through his insurance. Now, advice required: - What do I need to do to maximise chances of a successful result given his denial? We have to wait until 10am tomorrow to contact Elephant for a claim number. I have photos and the hotel can confirm he was the last person to park next to my car. - How much is it likely to cost to repair? I can't tell if the silver marks will polish out or not, but the top mark is clearly through several layers . The corner of the wing mirror is marked too. Photos are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/thepolite1/2009_08_22Bannatyne?feat=directlink Please help! We've had the car two weeks and can't believe it's been hit in a nice hotel carpark of all places - I'd thought seeing the car still there meant it'd be ok but seeing as he fecked off instead of admitting it... Thanks, -TPO.
  3. Saw a black Zed just leaving the carpark as we pulled in, didn't have time to wave but both noticed a fellow Zed! Female driver, black hair. Hello!
  4. Hi Lapz, what exactly did they charge you for the P2? Thanks, -TPO.
  5. Thanks Jerry A mine of useful information you are proving to be!! Tonight I'll be ordering some Silkolene from opieoils then and possibly some clear side reflectors as a little treat for my first mod
  6. Health check converted to a P2 service instead - got to give them credit because initially John said he couldn't take it in for a P2 because of the time but agreed to fit it in for me as it's difficult for me to get there any other time (too far away to drop it off during the week). The price is £312 all in normally, minus £38.92 if using own oil gave £274, just realised that's not including the forum discount but Jerry's name was plugged until I was blue in the face so shouldn't be a problem reminding them! Nice to speak to someone who remembered my booking and remembered that they're checking the wheels and axle for warranty work!
  7. Of course I need to be careful watching out for Zeds, that high street is far too narrow for me to whip my head round to look at the sunset Zed and take my eyes off the road!
  8. If you see a GM 56 with a plate ending MDK passing through Chobham - that'll be us My wife commutes through there. Although we were in stealth mode last night (i.e. in the Clio...)
  9. Thanks Jerry I've not been in there yet, just pestering them on the phone so far! Will call them this morning and see if they're ok to change my booking to a P2 and what it'll cost. Next task will be to find the best oil to buy in the meantime... -TPO.
  10. Saw a 56 GM in Brookwood train station carpark and a Sunset in a pub carpark in Chobham this evening, hello if you recognise yourself
  11. Not sure what I'm best off doing - the car has done 17.2k miles, just under 3 years old and has not had it's P2 service yet. Am I better off having that done instead of the vehicle health check as it's due the service really anyway? Jerry, do you know off-hand what Ancaster charge for a P2 and should I get my own oil to take with? Thanks! -TPO.
  12. A mate of mine with a lowered car years ago smacked off his oil sump on a speed hump, he thought it was due to his car until while stuck at the side of the road a merc saloon did the same thing! He sued and got all costs back from the council...
  13. I was parked in a car park near Windsor Great Park a few years back, huge amount of space when a car parked next to me and the fecking moron in the passenger side opened his car *smack* into my drivers door - I said some rather loud rude words and once he'd shut his ruddy door I got out and inspected the door for a good few minutes (there wasn't a mark luckily enough), making sure my backside meant he couldn't get out of the car! I will never understand why people insist on parking right next to another car if you don't have to - although if I don't have much choice, I'll always park next to a nice/modded car than a cr@pbox because the nice car owner will be more careful when opening the doors!
  14. And with the Shell Drivers card you get a penny per litre of V-Power, so same as having a Tescos clubcard!
  15. I've only had the car a week! And from looking at the nearside front last night I think that's been refurbished, there's a chip out of the tyre next to an uneven section of rim...have to look pretty closely to see it (more feel than sight). I was putting on the Autoglym Alloy Wheel Sealant I got yesterday to try it out, but the wheels need a proper clean and polish on the inside. Judging by the number of small scratches (and the cigarette smell) it wasn't an enthusiast who owned it before Thanks for the warning Nixy - I'm hoping Ancaster will sort me out given Jerry's recommendation - they're not the closest to me but none of the local Nissan garages seem to be well regarded! EDIT - Spoke to Ancaster, the fella (forgot to get a name) gave me a test to do to check the clicking axle to rule out the brake pads moving being the source of the sound, and explained that they'd have to photo the corrosion and rebook to have any work done which is more than fair. I gave a couple of plugs of the forum too
  16. Perfect, thank you very much for the confirmation! I'll give Ancaster a ring and let them know to check this when I take it in...
  17. Got the car a week ago, gave it it's first proper clean last night and saw this on the nearside front wheel: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/OZ2N5_i_f8lIZOqUP6HyZg?feat=directlink Is this covered under the warranty? I just wanted to check I had the right idea before letting Ancaster Nissan know! Thanks, -TPO.
  18. I'll join in but feel very far behind! Vauxhall Nova 1.2 - E-reg. Part-ex for... Peugeot 306 1.8 Meridian - W-reg. First bit of modding with full stereo system done. Hyundai Coupe 2.0 SE - 03-reg, first car bought from new! got me into detailing but regretted the depreciation!! Discovered the joys of a good owners club. Sold to get... Mazda MX-5 1.8 S - W-reg, bought off my dad after he got ill and couldn't do the roof on his own. Have enjoyed it for about 3 years, but recently part-exd to help pay for... Nissan 350Z GT - '56. Only had it since 9th Aug but frickken hey!!!!!!! Wife's car - Renault Clio 1.4, X-reg, from new. It's like a tardis inside so keeping that as the 'sensible' option as we're sharing the Z that we've both been hankering for for a couple of years
  19. Will do, no worries! Thanks for arranging the discount in the first place! John was asking me if I track it, so the coolant shouldn't be to the top anyway - I pointed out I only got the car last weekend
  20. Just called them (spoke to John) to book mine in for a 'vehicle health check' where they check the tyres/brakes/levels, only £11.75 which I thought was very good. He said they can't just do a check for any warranty-based issues as that's up to the customer to report them, fair enough. I can see the coolant levels low and the inside of the front tyres looks worn so I'm assuming a re-alignment will be needed but I'm no mechanic and would much rather an expert looks! I mentioned the forum so will be checking that £11.75 and the coolant I'll be buying includes the 10% discount when I get over there (29th August)
  21. Hi Rich, I've seen a GM Roadster in the car park of the Hunters Lodge and a modded Azure coupe near Sainsburys if they're on here
  22. Holy cow this is a friendly place BOSE all sounds ok (left speaker works and no CD skips so far) - had to laugh when I couldn't load a CD before finding out about the multi-changer! But as you say, worth getting it looked over, I'm not sure I'd know what to listen out for on the driveshaft/suspension. My last car was an W-reg MX-5 and I got used to squeaks and rattles from the hood! The Croydon Nissan dealer appears to be getting good comments (and a 10% discount helps!) so will give them a ring and ask, Bishops Nissan in Guildford had bad reviews on another site I was reading. Thanks for the welcome! -TPO.
  23. Hi all, just signed up to the forum, wife and I picked up our Zed yesterday - 56 gunmetal GT. Would have been a lovely drive back from the dealer (NMJ Motorhouse nr Dunstable) apart from the flipping M25 being difficult so only had a couple of chances to push it! We're near Woking and hardly see any others round here normally - anyone know good service places? The warranty runs up late-Sept, was planning on taking it to a Nissan dealer to check for any issues/warranty work while it's still covered, but from looking at the TSB's I'm not sure if any apply to the '56 reg? Will post up pictures once it stops raining... -TPO.
