1. Hi Mods, I have been a member since 2009. I joined when I bought the Z. I'm now looking to sell my 2005 JDM convertible. Would it be OK to post a link to an ebay listing? I note your 100-post pre-requisite. It's unlikely that I will have enough of interest to say to achieve that. I have always just enjoyed reading the forums. My Z might be interesting to members? Hope so. Thanks. I promise I'm not a spammer. Steve
2. All four wheels are showing increased tyre wear on the inside. My local service guy says that the camber and tracking need to be checked. He asked me if there is any difference between UK spec and JDM in this respect. My guess is not, but this knowledgeable forum is the place to find out!! Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance! Steve
3. I must share this with you - because it's the reason that I was able to afford the 350Z. I have two cars, insured with Norwich Union. The second car gets a discount. When I asked for a quote for the Z, they said "where's you no claims?" and I said "see my other two cars!". They said "No claims is not transferable". I said "Boll***, NCD applies to me, not the cars that I drive." So I did a websearch and came up with http://www.multivehiclecover.co.uk/. They insured three cars, including the Z, for less (yes, less) that NU were charging for two. NU were getting £800+ per year from me - I'm now paying £700+, BUT FOR THREE CARS. The secret (that eluded NU) is that missus and I can only drive one car at a time. So logic would suggest that only the two most highly rated cars should be costed. Anyway - I pass this revelation on to you. Let know how you get on.
4. Dan, that decoding is right, apart from the colour. It's silver. And I think always was. I couldn't find any hint of a respray. The Chassis Number starts with HZ33. This is the number also imprinted into the bulkhead in the engine compartment. From what I can gather, Japanese VIN numbers are called Model Numbers (as per photo) and are not at all like US style VIN numbers - for which there are several sources on the web, including at 350z forums in the US. Confused? I was. But it's clearer now. Plus I have now seen the Auction Sheet that was faxed to me - showing consistent info with the logbook and mileage. Thanks for the tip about HPI - yes, great idea, and I will do that. I can't post photos of the vehicle yes - haven't got it. I could post the link to the sales site, but I don't want it to appear that I distrust the sellers. Anyway - it's four years old and has 4,000 miles on the clock. Brake discs need some action to get them shiny again, but it seems in perfect nick. Shame about the satnav (reading other posts in this forum). Sounds like a choice between replacing what's behind the screen (which is tidiest solution) and getting a double-DIN unit to replace the current CD/radio (the Kenwood has been mentioned). If anyone has done either - and is proud of it - please share! Thanks. And thanks to all the welcoming posts. It's great to be here. I now have satisfied a childhood dream to have a sports car - at the ripe old age of 5x (where x is a state secret). Steve
5. Thanks, guys, for the warm and quick welcome! I want to be sure that it's kosher. It's registered as a 2005 vehicle in the V5. It all LOOKS genuine.
6. I have tried to decode the VIN (the 18 character string), but it doesn't seem to conform to the "JN1...." format. What do more knowledgable folks think? I have just paid a deposit to buy this vehicle, and I'm trying to be careful. Thanks in advance. (My first post!)
