  1. Eventually got the car back in to GH Ipswich for the noisy clutch bearing combined with two replacement rear wheels (under warranty) that had corrosion blisters! I bought a pair of Falken FK452 tyres from camskills £100.90 each as the two rear wheels were being renewed, thought i would take advantage of the free fitting They run really well with no additional road noise, so I will no doubt put them on the front as well when needed. GH had the car two days, tyres/wheels fitted and very happy. As far as the clutch goes they have said that Nissan Technical agreed that a noisy release bearing is a character trait of the 350z and there is no fault found, apparently had another 350 in at the same time which was also comparably the same... case closed!
  2. Def do not use Glynn Hopkins at Ipswich, the service dept is absolutely useless!! They never return your telephone calls and cannot get even the simplest of things right!
  3. I had a new clutch fitted 3 weeks ago on my (2007) roadster 10k miles into its life!.., see 'clutch gone at 9800 miles' . It now has a very noisy release bearing after just 300miles and it is not as smooth from 1st to 2nd as one would like! I will be taking it back to the dealer to get it checked over but I don't expect too much sympathy. I was lucky to get a full clutch under warranty in the first place.. LOL
  4. The saga continues.... The new thrust bearing has got very noisy so it will be going back to the garage when I get time to drive over there!
  5. I have a 313bhp 07 plate and have noticed lately that when the engine is cold it is idling at 2000 revs for the first mile or two, then when the engine is hot it will run anywhere between 700 -1100 at idle, is this a characteristic or is there a problem looming??
  6. would like to see an answer on this one, I have noticed similiar when cold?
  7. mine does this too and its an 07 !
  8. Just had a clutch and flywheel fitted on mine, completely covered under warranty at 9800 miles!! There is hope if you push the case, I was turned down at first!
  9. hmm good point! I did check the car over before i drove it away. I am awaiting a replacement wheel since they kerbed one last month, apparently they take a long time to come through from factory?? I don't mind the wait now i know they have agreed to replace it Si
  10. Car collected on Wednesday. complete new clutch and flywheel. All good and job well done. Thank you Nissan UK... would be nice if the GH Ipswich had cleaned my car and the service staff had a bit more personality but hey! you can't always have everything!
  11. DAY 3. GH Ipswich phoned me first thing. Complete clutch, Bearing and Flywheel to be replaced, all under warranty (cost would have been £2,700). Unfrotunately the Flywheel is not an off the shelf item so expect to have delivery by Wednesday next week, Car will be ready Thurs/Friday. What was the warranty point of acceptance ? The flywheel had 3mm play in it! My faith is restored in Nissan and Glynn Hopkins Ipswich . Will await the car and update again then. Si
  12. Been all day and nothing to report, phoned GH at 5.00pm they had sent a 2nd lot of photo's to Nissan this morning, apparently they needed a photo of the fly wheel. 5.30pm - got a phone call from a very nice young lady at Nissan (Emma) and she told me the complete clutch and flywheel has been approved under warranty... yipeee No call from GH yet so hopefully they will get the parts in tomorrow. Will update when i know more, I am curious as to what the cause was and have not had an answer yet?
  13. Car went into GH Ipswich today and having removed the gearbox they confirmed that the clutch is knackered but made no further comment as to why? I suspect that this is because we are now awaiting a response from Nissan UK Warranty dept which will hopefully be in the morning. I got them to check the Fluid Return Valve in the Master Cylinder, No fault was found. Will update when I know more. Si
  14. GH at Ipswich have put her on the operating table today and confirmed that the Clutch is shot but have submitted details to Nissan and I am now awaiting a response from the warranty department in the morning. Fingers crossed! GH Colchester topic..., yep I had a bad experience with them a couple of years ago and have not been back since. It was over the same sort of thing. I booked a test drive in a 350Z, was really looking forward to it, then a week later when I turned up nobody knew anything about it and they didnt have one there for me to try I bought a Mercedes SLK instead! soon got bored with that though ha ha
  15. No, Mine is a roadster, I have seen the one in Holland though. Si
  16. Cheers Dan, that makes sense. My only concern is, I have heard that if you come away from the OE flywheel for a light weight you could open up all sorts of noise and judder problems through incorrect balancing? Don't know if anyone can shed light on this..
  17. Hey Alex Thankyou for your reply to my pm.. Your prices are good in comparison to others that I have sought. If I end up having to pay for this, I will be in touch for pronto delivery as she will be on the Nissan Dealer operating table!. Just a further question though, if the Flywheel does not need replacing, what is the benefit to fitting a Lightweight Aluminium Fidanza Flywheel ?
  18. Yes the Elise is a great car, but i spent so much money trying to make it quicker LOL! Si
  19. I would be interested to know how you get on as I am in Kirby Le Soken!! , :bye: Check out my post ' clutch gone at 9800 miles' Might be of interest to you as this is GH at Ipswich Cheers Si
  20. Thank you for all your responses. I bought the car beginning of March this year, it was direct from Nissan as one of their ex Demo's, it had 7900 on the clock when i got it! So no telling what any drivers did to her but she is in prestine condition ,with the clutch exception of course!! I have kicked off at Nissan UK this afternoon and they have agreed to take up the case but make no promises. She is going to be stripped down on Wednesday for a diagnosis, so will update from there. If it is not agreed then I will be looking to get my own parts fitted. Once again, thanks for the mass of support. My last car was a Lotus Elise and the SELOC (lotus club) web site is much the same as this one, always a great place to get a heads up on a problem. Cheers Chaps!
  21. Some advice please!! I am based just outside of Colchester in Essex, I have an 07 Roadster and the clutch is riding on acceleration so at 9,800 miles I have spoken to Nissan who call it fair wear & tear Where does one get a Clutch replaced by people who know what they are doing and are not going to rip you off? and .. what clutch should I fit ? is there a good after market one that will last longer than the OE. I have spoken to Nissan Motor Co and they stand by the dealer (not surprisingly) I think this is one for the Watchdog team. Quote - The clutch on your Nissan 350Z is considered a wear and tear item, therefore would not be covered under the 3 years/60,000 mile, whichever comes first, pan-European warranty. As with all wear and tear components, it is difficult to place a mileage on the longevity of such components, therefore, such items are not covered under the warranty. Hmm right.., so every service involves a new clutch then!!
