  1. I did thanks CS, got a call up to my surgery to say that a small but heavy package had arrived. Great service thanks, fitting on Fri. Car is coming up to 4 years old, just need to source a decent garage.
  2. Hi all, My car will be due its P3 service (aorund 33k miles) in a couple of months and am considering taking it somewhere other than the dealer. Anyone got any thoughts on this? Any suggestions to where to take the zed for a non-dealer service around Dundee? Thanks Pedro.
  3. Is using a hairdrier to fix a plastic warp a possible job for someone like me? (i.e. little skill/knowledge about bodywork)
  4. Anyone got a spare gunmetal front bumper? Thanks Pedro.
  5. I was driving home from my sister's last night, sitting at around 50 on a country road. From no where this camacazie dear runs in front of the car.... A new experience for me, and not a pleasant one. You should have seen the poor thing fly, it went for some distance, and thankfully was hit hard enough for a quick death. Inspected the car this morning, and the front end is amazingly intact. Fortunately missed the expensive headlights. There is a fairly minor dent on the bonnet; there is a mobile dent remover here in Dundee that has done a great job for me in the past, hopefully he can save me again, although the bonnet is double skinned which might make things trickier. The bumper took a fair whack, it is slightly distorted next to the number plate. Time will tell whether this is something I can live with or not... unless anyone has a spare gun metal front bumper they want rid of! Anyway, could have been worse! Pedro.
  6. Hi all, Just got the zed back after being off the road for a couple of weeks. My 5th - 6th synchro was ever so slighly beginning to crunch, at high revs. As my aftermarket warranty was nearing it's end I thought I'd get it sorted. Cost £500, but company only giving me £300 back as they say the job should only take 6 hours and the guy I was using (who is a transmission specialist) took 14. I know for a fact that the warranty company are a complete con as the first 3 nissan dealers I phoned round quoted 11 hours. Anyway... Since having the car back I've been having gear trouble. 5th - 6th gear is now fine, it's 1st and 2nd that are annoying me. When changing between 1st - 2nd, more so on a downshift, the gear is really stiff, worst into 1st. My good friend H_Potter assures me it is just the cold weather, and that the gearox takes a while to heat up. My drive to and from work is around 20-25 mins (13 miles) and it seems to get no better by the time i'm home. This has lead me to draw up a list of 3 possible conclusions. 1) the gear box is cold - I got the car in June and so maybe have never really driven it cold, the weather here in Scotland has been chilli since I got the car back 2) I am not used to the chunky 350z gears. I have been driving my girlfriend's Kia Picanto which has a super slick gear change (it really does!) 3) My gearbox is f***d! Any ideas? Cheers, Pedro.
