  1. The time has come to reluctantly sell my P and J. Ive had her 2 years now and has served me well but unfortunately sense must prevail - that and a big fat new mortgage that needs paying!

Still under 20k miles and a nice unabused example...except for the nice 2 foot scratch some mofo did to bonnet! Its a 52 JDM Gun Metal.

So just wanted to get peoples thoughts on getting it repaired before i sell. Cost wise im looking £400-500 after a few quotes - to have blown back into wings and front bumper. Problem is people think the worst when if they notice a paint job. I would of course take a pic of the bonnet before hand to show them.

So do you think its better to sell with the damage or get it repaired and then sell?

    Cheers

  2. just thought of an easy diagnostic test to rule out tyre noise....

....Find a nice flat field and drive at the same speed you would normally do to get the sound, if noise gone then its not the tyres!

Anyone see a problem with this - other than dog sh*t and dirt?!

    :D

  3. I had a Tiptronic Mitsubishi FTO (It had manual override - not full auto). I now have a manual 350z.

It was great for lazy stuck in traffic driving, and was pretty quick at gear change on request. Of course you wont get any clutch control. The tiptronic (on the FTO) has too much of a tendency to behave none predictably. Many times it was simply in the wrong gear for the conditions. Also, if you get stuck in mud you are shafted! - there was no way of pulling off in third gear which was the only way to get up this muddy incline the once! Ive no idea if this is common on all Tip gearboxes - anyone? Having said that ive tried my manual 350z on a slight snowy incline and that was terrible anyway due to being RWD.

Did i miss manual - sometimes. Would i get another Tiptronic - no. Much prefer the manual. The gearbox died in the end, but even so, the manual is better IMO - gives you greater control.

  4. i have this same noise you are describing did you find the cause? will have to do something about it next week i had thought it was normal until someone else drove my car and theres doesn't make the sound

havent got round to it still! i need someone to have a listen who knows about it really, so anyone in wolverhampton? :)

  6. ive tried to record the sound on my mobile but no good at all - too noisy!

Im not sure if this could be wheel bearing related? It kind of sounds like alot of road noise, and i can feel it vibrating - sort of like a rough dragging feel to it. Its only really noticeable during low speed, less than 20 mph. Breaking hard exagerates it. Cornering doesnt seem to make it worse.

The sound isnt really loud, its a deep low level sound if that makes sense.

As 3Fiddy says - i should really jack it up and turn the wheels, though does bearings sound likely? It only done 13k but its an 52 plate.

Failing that - tyres perhaps? Its still the original bridgestones on the front which i know are notorious for noise. Do you think its worth getting wheels aligned?...theres still loads of tread left.

  7. Hi,

Now im not sure if this is just a normal sound or not as i always drive with the radio on but havent recently so i may just be hearing things....

When i decelerate quite harshly i can sort of hear a groan which sounds like its coming from the engine. Its def not brakes at it does it if just doing engine breaking. Like i say it could be just a normal sound but it just doesnt sound right to me. Just had oil changed.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Cheers

  8. If you do very few miles a year ie 3k or so, is it really necessary to have the car serviced annually (as per Manufacturer recommendations) or is it ok to wait until you actually hit the recommended mileage before having a service done even it takes several years to get there?

What about things like sparks plugs, brake fluid and cam belt?

    cheers!

  9. Hey all,

God knows why i bother going to Nissan. I mean, the only reason is so that the service book gets stamped with a Nissan logo so my car is easier to sell. How long before people actually realise that its actually a bad thing in using a dealer to service their car???

Admitedly their P1 price was pretty cheap compared to others at £152.95, but £152 quid for essentially just an oil change is ridiculous!

Anyway i got the car back only to discover several nice oily fingerprint marks on the interior roof. Also noticed that doors havent been greased yet its checked off on their report sheet. Also the screen wash, well is just water yet it says ive paid for it! What a farce. Ok, they may be petty things but surely this is a good indicator of how crap the rest of their inspection was???

Havent had chance to winge at them yet - but come new years day i will do believe me!!!

Also theyve use semi synthetic oil. Can someone please confirm if fully synthetic is needed?

    Winge over :)

    Happy new year!

  10. Some collosal tw@t has well and truly keyed my bonnet. Arrggg!!! I knew it was just a question of time that some jealous fool would do it!!

Anyway, im looking for a good paint shop in the west mids. Ive spoken to one in Stafford but he said he doesnt really use waterbased paint and that hed likely use oil based on it. Im a bit weary of this. Should i definately stick with water-based for the best match?

Its Gun Metal Grey (Well i think it is - its a JDM)

    cheers!

  11. Noticed that my washer jets are barely pumping through any water, just a trickle. The washer tank is full.

Ive recently had windscreen replaced which i think involves removing the wipers....would it be easy to replace wrong and pinch the water lines?

    Cheers

  12. Definitely been refurbed. Think about it, brand new wheel doesnt have weights put on until tyre is fitted. They dont fit the tyre and then spray the wheel at the factory.

Doh - of course, stupid me! Always a logical explaination eh!! Cheers for clearing that up.
