Door Speakers-ANOTHER QUESTION 25/04

Will speakers with a mounting depth of 5.4 cm fit in the zed folks?

 

Important question now people. I bought some shallow mount infinity components that require 54mm mounting depth. Tried them in the car straight against the door & they touch the window.Now it looks like i need to make an 18mm spacer so they clear, Will the door card still fit back over them?

and it should tell you whats needed , looks like most need either 1" spacer ring or the thinner ones like youve got can be mounted in the guts from a stock speaker.

Tar cocker, i did consider hacking the standards to bits as i remember madmarky said he did that. Ill take a peek on there now

Someones fitted some 6'' infinity reference comps,how did they manage that?mind you i suppose if you make a spacer the size no longer matters.

Anyway the mounting depth on those is apparently 2-1/16th'' & my350 says they fit perfect with a 1'' spacer

tbh if it was me id just make some spacer from what ever left overs from the the boot build i had. youve gone thin comps so any spacer will probably work

Yup I'm with you on that one chief. Made a spacer out of 18mm and suprisingly it fits lol. Just need to copy it for the drivers door. Also found that my crossovers will mount to the door in the hollowed out section so that is their new home

cool beans , just started.nearly done with moving my sub to behind th drivers seat for more pusating drive.

make sure you get some pics up your install is shaping up well .

Theres some in my other thread Yoko,i dont suppose theres anything worth taking pictures of now as the boot is finished. Managed to route the power cable today,all i can say is..... how easy! thats by far the easiest job getting the wire through the bulkhead.Literrally took me 10 mins

also made up another spacer for the drivers door,hoping the doors are a mirror image as i just copied the passenger one i made

Right guys. How the hell have you lot fitted your tweeters? My infinitys are two large to front mount, I can't use the weird ass starfish mounting things as there's too much in the way in the back.

I tried using a piece of plastic screwed down using the two round open prongs which holds it fine but stops the cover seating properly on the car again. Starting to get pi55ed off now as I've got to wait til next weekend to do anymore
