Audio Suddenly Cut Out

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

I hope one of you wonderful and very knowledgable people can help please.

A couple of years ago I had a new Pioneer DAB stereo unit fitted to my Z. All was well until just before the warranty ran out when the unit failed. I took it back to the fitters (A big national chain) and they replaced it with a new unit. However, I wasn't too happy with the fitting at the time as I had to go back and get them to redo it as half my dash was out!

Long story short, that was in Feb 2025. Roll forward to a couple of weeks ago and the sound just cut out completely, no warning, no crackles, no fading, nothing.

I went back today to get it looked at and they said the head unit was fine (duh!) but the amp had "gone". I've called several places who said it would cost £k's to get it fixed as it would have to be removed or bypassed (?), that it was a very difficult job to repair the existing amp if not impossible, and that fitting a new system might not even be possible.

I found an amp on eBay from a 350Z (didn't say what year) but am now advised that even that might not work because of it might have different software to my one.

Can anyone advise me of what I can do please. I'm not techie and the audio places around near me only seem interested in trying to sell me a new system.
