...My car is held together with zip ties for one as others have noted.
The crack in the front is strange - I can't see what it could be except a shunt - the air con rad (condenser) looks newer than the standard rad so may have been replaced?
................
.............I put it down to the install being done as a "job" and maybe more to a price?
Quick disclaimer here -
I have no idea who did any of the work on my car prior to my ownership!
So many owners and so many modifications any part may have fallen off and been repaired, they may have been installed like that from day one - I don't know and I don't care!
I have not named any company or individual as responsible.
I just took the photos
Not on here much these days - just logged in to see how my old baby was doing and saw this thread. Just to point out the zip ties are there since the first owners SC install - don't know how that front crack could have occured - as far as I am aware it wasn't there while I had the car as the bumper was off a few times (changed bumper and refurbed SC). Dave (previous owner) was a mate and I would have known if he had pranged the car.
As regards to previous work done - when a Zed has had fitted a Vortech SC plus APS oil pan and tall boy plenum, larger injectors and uprated fuel pump, tein coilovers, Nismo ARBs, a Kaaz diff, PF front discs and numerous other mechanical and cosmetic mods its hardly fair to say that work was done to a price. I spent a LOT of money on this Zed during my time with it as did the two previous owners. If I held onto the Zed I would have fitted an oil cooler and a couple of other bits and bobs by now as well but I did mention this when I sold you the car.
Well done on the build to date Chris - nice to see this Zed getting the attention it deserves - I knew it was in good hands the minute I met you.
-
Just seeing this now - thats savage Chris. Looks like you are taking the SC Zed to the next step - it's already well set-up to deal with the power increase.

How is the tuning progressing? Any chance we could see it at a track day this year?
tune done dude on the 1st post, pm sent will stick some dynos up later.
Awesome power and torque figures man.
Can't wait for a spin around Mondello.

great vids - the 0-160 was particularly impressive - that looked like 0-100 in under 10 secs (supercar + quick).
What tyres were you running? - looked like they let down your handling run.
-
Heres another two for you Chris (I really miss that Zed):
-
O OK then
Nice photo Chris - Looks like you're really hanging on for dear life there.
-
This Zed was already amazing - its gonna take some beating after this.
The chassis and drivetrain mods ensures that the car will have no problems handling 500bhp although for the life of me I don't know why you feel it needs more power?
Don't forget now - I've first dibs under the buy-back clause.
-
What are your plans for the SC Chris?
Hopefully the next stage of its evolution mate ............
Good stuff - can't wait to see the progress thread.
If you're bringing the Zed past 420bhp though won't you have to build the engine?
EDIT - nevermind I found your other thread.

Good vid although I like supercharger music better.
How did you find the Kaaz Diff and R888's on track?
As per Anders - How did oil temp hold up?
-
Good vid - did you get a spin in the SC Zed? Who owned the 370Z?
-
Is that the tune you had on loop all day on track? - little wonder you melted your discs.
You got any vids that don't have Cilla in them - maybe some Zeds on a trackday for instance?
-
... Trying to get into Octane's OTD9, you should pop down!
Would like to get a spin in your newly turboed Zed alright and where better.
-
HA HA.
I've got lappy and 3g so expect a 13:30 video during the lunch-break.
-
Keep in mind the hub bore. The Ravs is 60.1 while the Zeds is 66.1 so a hubcentric ring will be neccessary to ensure that the rim seats properly.
Also keep in mind that you'll be putting wider rims on the back of the RAV than on the front which may effect handling (is the RAV primarily FWD/part time 4WD?) and that you'll need at least a 50 profile tyre to get close to the OE wheels circumference.

bring loads of vids
have fun and be safe
+1 - LOADS of Vids please.

Its a wrap for me. But then I've done this to my own Zeds on aftermarket bumpers before - will look much better in the flesh than in your photoshop pics.

While I can understand that a standard Zed will be off the pace of a Caterham/Westfield etc a well sorted FI Zed (diff/brakes/susp mods) will hold its own on all but the twistiest of tracks.
On my last track day on the International Circuit in Mondello I had no problems running with Elises/Exiges/Caterhams etc. My mate who was on the pit wall timing was surprised that the Zed was quicker than the majority of them.
Having said that at a previous trackday (with Andlid) a turbo busa Westfield was probably one of the scariest yokes I've seen on a track and no amount of Zed power would have kept up.
So I guess its down to power to weight and suspension mods - I'm absolutely certain it'd be much easier and cheaper to make a Caterham/Westfield quicker than a Zed but then its nice to be able to drive to the track and drive home in comfort.
-
My mate runs 9.5inch Rotas all round with an ET12 offset. Looks fantastic but does require a little arch rolling (no biggy really) even on standard suspension (rubs when suspension compresses).
-
I'd be more inclined to go with reasonated DeCats and just stick back on the Cats for the MOT.
For all the talk about HFC's on here - they'll never get close to the flow characteristics of a decat. My SC (now Keysers) jumped 20bhp from a HFC to a Decat (granted you won't see anything like that jump on an NA).
-
..........Maybe have some time to do some "fettling".....................
An SC, an LSD and a set of R888's would be a good start.
-
.......You will do well against me if it rains I'm on R888's she spins up in the wet with those on I'll be the slowest thing on the track (in the gravel more like )..
The R888's will still be quicker on a damp track especially when up to temperature (which would never happen on a road). Its when you get standing water that you'll loose your advantage.
-
I took off those HFC's for Decats as I wasn't particularly happy with them despite them passing the NCT - they are a few years old now and have likely reached their end of life if they didn't pass the MOT - sure you could go for a good burn beforehand and it'll likely pass but 2nd hand is not the way to purchase HFC's imo - its why I never bothered selling them myself.
