  1. I posted about this up a while ago and haven't heard anything back from it so I thought I'd put another up that's not so confused.

I't a non-LED drivers side rear light, I had to replace the other one but bought a pair and have since sold the Z so it's just taking up garage space, I'm open to any reasonable offer.

    Cheers

  2. Someone put a hole in my passenger side rear light cluster and I ended up getting a pair for quite a good deal.

I've since sold the Z (I know but parking on the street wsn't good for it) and still have the drivers side wrapped in bubble wrap in my room so I'm open to reasonable offers or I'll stick it on ebay but I thought I'd give you guys the first option.

  3. Oooo can't wait 'till this weekend now :)

Not taking the Z for the first trip, didn't want to risk it so I've organised to take over some bangers for charity and see how that goes. If all goes well I might be looking at going again later in the summer.

Can't believe you stayed in the hotel though... camping all the way :)

Any more tips for a first timer?

  4. I'm having a really bad month this month with the car and got to it today to find a hole in the rear passenger side light, luckily it hadn't quite started raining so I managed to get some tape over it before that started.

So.... Has anyone replaced their rear linghts and now have an original available that I could relieve them of for a reasonable amount of cash?#

    Cheers

    Mike

  5.

Got the new scorpion exhaust fitted after I broke the old one (love the new sound), parked it up thinking I can't really handle any more expense at the moment (redundancy likely :( ) only to come back the next day to a key scratch all the way down the drivers side wing :scare:

Got a quote at lunchtime today and it's come out at £500 incl VAT for all 3 pannels but I'm considering getting the bonnet and front bumper done at the same time for another £600 whilst I'm at it now because it's taken a stone beating in the last 5 and a half years. Is this a reasonable price for what I'm looking at getting done? The rest of the car looks great so with everything done it would be pretty close to new. What are everyone's opinions on this? If it goes really badly I may have to sell to survive, that's a last resort but would getting it all cleaned up help with selling if it comes to that?

  6. that look great :) im looking forward to seeing how it turns out...

1 question thought....surely stone chips will destroy the vinyl...? I drive about 60 miles aday and would love to get this but my bumper on my celica already looks like a 14 year old with a serious achne problem...one the vinyl is penetrated by the stones i assume there wont be that much time before it starts 2 peel back...?

Thats what would worry me, the number of stone chips I manage to pick up is rediculous, if it's strong enough to hold them off though I would be seriously tempted.

  7. Thanks, yeh the scorpion one is coming out around that price, had a look at whats going on here and although I'd be very tempted by the NISMO one £650 its pretty steep for me at the moment. I know you should always go for the best possible but what are the main advantages of something over a NISMO over a scorpion or a K1, sorry I have no idea about exhausts, I was happy enough with the standard sound.

Yeh saw a video of the K1 and it does sound a bit crazy, might be tempted if its a good deal though, sorry about my ignorance but who are CS?

  8. Hi,

Had a nice little trip over to devon this weekend only to have it ruined somewhat by the exhaust pipe breaking at the join between the cat pip and the one going to the back box (I think).

I've figured that seing as it's partly off already and after 5 hours of driving with no silencer that I might as well replace it with something different (I guess it would be a bit cheaper as well?)

Anyway, I haven't got a clue where to start with getting this done so if anyone could give me any tips on:

-what aftermarket exhaust to go for, nothing too crazy and value for money is a must because I've got a lot on at the moment and money is tight.

-garages near Chelmsford that you would trust to not balls it up, I'd give it a go but don't know if I trust myself enough yet and I've seen on here that places should do it for around £50.

    Cheers,

    Mike

  9. Before anyone says it I haven't accidentally bumped the window lock button whilst driving, I did this in my last car and looked like a complete plank when I took it to the dealers and he laughed at me. So you can be assured that I have checked this.

The thing is that the drivers window always works so if they are linked up to the same fuse it can't be that but when it doesn't work (this is normally after football when there are 2 sweaty lads in the car on a hot day, not nice) it has that same click and 'feel' as if you were to press the window lock button so I'm wondering if there might be a bit of a wonky connection there somewhere.

Any ideas for me at all? I've taken bits off to get into doors and things on all of my past cars but I'm a bit reluctant to do this with the Z, even though (worryingly enough) a few of the interior parts are exactly the same as I had on my swift.

    Cheers,

    Mike

  10. I'd just buy a german diesal shed and run it on veggie oil as a second car. All in would be less than £2k inc insurance. Veggie oil about 50p per litre.

There was an LPG Z on pistonheads here. Bet it sounds like a bag of spanners but could be wrong.

I've heard that only some diesels work well on veg oil (mainly french and old) and a mate that does this has seen comparitive rises in veg oil prices lately, it's still cheaper but the gap is closing and it's gonna make that Friday night trip to the chippy more expensive as well.

My dad also runs a factory fitted LPG Astra, he has hunted around and found the cheapest gas around 60p/L but has to drive out of his way a lot to pick it up so it kind of defeats the object. The losses he gets in economy are quite high as well, only looking at the equivalent of 60mpg on a car that would usually get 40's anyway so he would probably be better off with just a small petrol. He also carries around 2 full tanks of fuel all the time so that can't be helping much but it does 'feel better' to go to the pump and pay so much less.

Best off just sticking with what we have and working on that grin when we press the go pedal. :yahoo:

  11. Thinking completely outside of the box but how about considering the new VW Scirocco GT, taking orders now and I reckon it looks pretty decent.

It should be reasonably practical and might be ready just in time. If I needed 4 seats at the moment I'd definitely be having a look.

  12. Condition is pretty good, couple of small marks but no more than expected from a 5 yr old car, getting it all cleaned up properly on Saturday. No mods at all (possibly apart from the clear reflectors) with the black leather and I'm pretty sure it has parking sensors as well, I wouldn't have gone for them but when parking it started beeping like some kind of 80's game when I got near anything, scared me a little at first :)

Cheers guys, it's good to know that it was as good a deal as I thought, bit of practice at Chinese markets worked well I reckon :)

And I don't think it's from here, just a lucky find on autotrader after 3 months of searching.

  13. Well I've had no problems with petrol and had a decent drive out today, great fun :)

Got some pics for you as well, they should be below.

    So.... details:

    UK spec Blue GT

    53 reg

    38k miles

All checked out to be fine by myself and the AA but for what I reckon is a bargain price of, get this.... £12k

Think I struck gold here, the guy that had it has just bought an Audi R8 so just wanted it to go to someone that would appreciate it as much as he has, what do you think?

  14. Go for a magnatec, they are simple and do the job well.

I'm not interested in having a huge metal lump advertising that I've been ripped off by the tax man once again so the more discrete the better. I promise you you won't have any trouble with one of them falling off. :yahoo:

  15. Great news!!

I found the ideal Z a little earlier than originally planned but I reckon I've got a decent deal so now that all the checks have been done and the cash is there I should be picking it up this evening.

Got a nice long drive back as well so I'm looking forward to that, only problem is that I bet I get there to an empty tank with all these crazy panic buyers bleeding the petrol stations dry, lets hope I can get it back.

I'll see about getting pics sorted over the weekend if I can fit it in between drinking and driving (driving first :p don't worry about that)

  16. Welcome Pembro!!!

:welcome: Where do you hail from? Australia or were you just visiting?

Aaah, see someone else spotted that!! Come on then, dish, what's the story??;)

Yeh sorry, busy week. I was just visiting at the time it happened to be on so I went in to drool :p

I live in Chelmsford, Essex, not long moved here but its definitely a step up from where I was before (Peterborough)

Cheers for all the welcome messages. I've found out there is up to a 10 week waiting list here for the IAM lessons to start so that will delay me a bit, I can see me getting impatient and just going for it, lets see how strong I can be, I've got a big burning feeling in my pocket ;)

  17. Hi,

I've had a bit of an obsession with the Zed for some time and after seeing it in the flesh at the Sydney motor show last year I gave myself 3 years to own one. Well financial circumstances have improved so I'm now looking at upgrading my suzuki swift  in the very near future so I thought I'd join and say hello before I start stalking the forum for info.

I figured that given the power hike it will probably be best that I make sure I'm up to speed with the driving skills, so I'm going to do the IAM course before I get one and the cheaper insurance afterwards will probably be useful being only 22.

Just to wet my apetite I went for a little test drive in a roadster this weekend... WOW! Thats it now, I was going to compare it with some others but I think I'm in love. I will be going for the coupe though, after rolling a car 4 years ago I don't like the idea of driving about with a tent over my head.

    Anyway... I go on..... Hello

    Mike
