    9. scotZ (Sandy)

    Looking forward to it already!

  2. Just fast road work, no track days!

I had an Elise before the Z, meaning I've been spoilt in terms of how cars handle :-) Still love my Z after 5 years though, but I'd just like it to handle the twisty stuff with a bit more aplomb!

Brakes are already a bit up on OEM with EBC grooved and dimpled discs and RedStuff pads. I've got the Brembros so stopping is already pretty decent.

The endlinks are a must, like I said, it's embarrassing at the moment! The S-tune sounds interesting, guess it depends what it's done and what you're looking for...

  3. I've got the infamous Z creaking rear end, greasing the endlinks has eased the embarrassment slightly  but I figure a set of Powergrid endlinks should sort it permanently.

Question for you all is, what else is worth doing at the same time? What gives the biggest boost to the handling of the Z?

Uprated Antiroll bars are a great way if you doing the endlinks and then get a set of coilovers if you want to go all the way :)

All the way to the end of the budget :-D

Does anything need to be done with the coilovers? Is it only of you drop it by extreme amounts that you need to watch things like camber? [suspension newbie]

  4. If they manage that, it'll take so many cars off the road that it will cure global warming! By all accounts there's a cruise at Tesco's in Falkirk on the last Thursday of the month - never seen it myself, I'm always in Glasgow on a Thursday night...

  5. 'll keep an eye out for it if I get let off early for a change!

Are there many others around our area? I've seen one pretty heavily modded silver effort - but always going the other way...

  6. hey jim - yeah, i'm normally on the 7:41 to edinburgh.

cheers for the recommendation on Bumps - I had it in there last week and the guy (another jim btw) did a top job for a very good price.

I think I'm getting the modding bug - had the JWT and the plenum spacer fitted yesterday and loving the noise when the revs get above 3500 :teeth:

That'll be another dip in the fuel economy then!

I'm not off the train back until after 6 - think I must miss your Zed!!

  7. I have a chance of a secondhand set of rims - 19x8.5 +35 offset on the front and 19x9.5 +40 offset on the rear.

This would be my first set of aftermarket wheels, so I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this.

I currently have the 18x8 +30 offset Touring v1 wheels on mine - would the 19's fit and what would I need?

All help and comments much appreciated!

  8. Yeah, that was me Jim! Thx for the intro

Only recently moved back into the area - I'll check out the places you mention. Uninspiring is fine as long as the guys know what they're doing - so many of them don't. I've had minor bumps ironed and resrayed by a guy in Glengarnock in Ayrshire, his place looks like a shed, but he does a roaring trade by word of mouth! A bit of a trek now I'm back in this neck of the woods tho...

  9. Alright guys and gals - just thought I'd look in and see what's what. I've had my Z for 3.5 years now - it's an imported 2002 Fairlady Z GT-spec, which I got with 1500 on the clock and has now covered 28000.

It's seen city living, which means it's been subjected to the @*!# parking and careless door-opening of the great, unwashed masses. However, now I have my own driveway and garage, that's about to be remedied!

First on the agenda is an HKS Legamax stainless steel catback exhaust (arriving Monday :yahoo:) and then I need to find a good bodyshop around the Stirling / Falkirk area, if anyone has any suggestions!
