  1. I don't get a chance to drive it as it is therefore won't be 'wasting' my time recording it or being laughed at by my wife doing so......

Yes they cut the silencers out (sort of one-piece and weighed a ton) and then slotted in two separate sleeved sections. Only took half an hour.

  2. It cost £90 cash-in-hand and if anything has made it more raspier rather than the other way around as what you've been told would suggest.

It really isn’t night-n-day like fitting a complete new system; it’s just added a bit "more" of the same noise when starting up and under acceleration.

  3. That would mean knowing how to record a video or sound clip on my phone and then download it t'internet.....

Haven't got the time and can't be arsed TBH. As described it just sounds standard but maybe 20% louder under acceleration and at start-up, otherwise it’s the usual almost-silent level.

  4. 8 :) (2 per calliper)

Thanks. Sorry, I should've said, I have the 'GT' Akibono calipers if that makes any difference?

Is there really two on each of the small rear callipers?

  5. I have a set (8) for Brembo calipers mate.

Just drop me a PM with the quantity that you require.

    Alex. :)

    Sorry, missed your post.

How many will I need for all 4 callipers please?

  6. Just noticed there may be more than one nipple on each calliper, is this the case?

(I remember a set of Alcons I used to have on a track car had 4 on each of the fronts!!)

How many will I need to do all 4 callipers please?

  7. I‘m missing a cap on one calliper and the other three look a little perished so thought I’d treat the car to a new set.

They are not available from Nissan (other than in a complete seal set for £80 per calliper), therefore can anyone please recommend anywhere in particular that sells identical caps.

    Thanks

  8. Thanks but not sure I understand your response.

My boot is completely back to standard now with the weight back in place etc. and as previously posted all is working fine.

My 'new' problem is the knocking from the two halves of the latch (I think) and my request is if anyone knows whether it's able to adjust the latch so as to bring both parts tighter to each other?

  9. Following on from this, I think my boot latch may need adjusting so as when the boot is closed it’s held a bit closer to the bodywork and therefore the rubber seals. I can hear the two parts of the latch knocking against each other when I go over bumps etc. Thanks.

  10. I didn't hear back from zmanalex, but have just replaced the lid weight and even without the washers in the poppers it now releases fine?! So its now completely back to normal and is working properly for some reason. Presumably having being messed around a bit its sorted itself around. Worst case i can pop one or two washers back in the poppers.

  11. Ok, thanks. I just assumed there would've been a DAB unit introduced in a later model and that I could retro-fit. I don’t want to fit an aftermarket unit and just had a look at the DAB add-ons and they seem to involve extra screen mounted aerials and then remote controls to change channels, I don’t really want to go to all that hassle.

    Thanks anyway.

  12. I have a non-DAB-non-SATNAV Bose system in my 2010 370Z. The sound quality is great listening to CD's, but the radio (which I listen to most of the time) reception is only FM and not the best quality. Is it possible to retro-fit a later model's DAB unit (don't know if there even is one, but just guessing there must be)?

    Thanks

  13. What about if it’s a mid-grey (Titanium) car then?!....

I don’t disagree with you, but there are so many examples of dark cars with dark wheels and vice-versa that I think its on a case by case basis.

With regards my mid-grey car, I'm only talking about having them done a few shades darker, so they wont be as dark as say the Nismo wheels but will be noticeably darker than the standard silvery finish. Much the same as after a couple of weeks of road grim and brake dust.

  14. Thanks mate, much appreciated. My normal wheels are, like you say, a two-stage "shadow-chrome" smoke colour but they're still quite silvery, as mentioned I'm having them reconditioned soon and therefore have the option of changing the colour if I want. I like the look of your darker, but still the two-stage smoke colour, therefore will go for something similar. Wont be for a few weeks now as am off on holiday, but will post some photos when they're done.

  15. Are the Black Edition wheels as standard the same shadow-chrome as my 'normal' edition, or are they a) a darker shadow-chrome or B) just a dark metallic grey?

I've had a look on the web and I quite like the look of the dark grey, which i think would look great with my mid grey car, but would think about a darker shadow-chrome if that's what the Black Editions came with to try and keep it a bit OEM looking.......

  16. i have just put a washer the thickness of a 1p in mine and they work fine, the poppers are not cheap and can only remedy the situation for a matter of months before they fail again

Thanks, I'll try just adding one washer, to be honest I'd rather the little hassle of opening the boot each time than the 'draft' noise from not having the lid weighed down by the weight.

I like the sound of a reversing camera, I don’t have sat-nav so don’t have a screen though.

  17.

Space Cadet..Maybe this is the problem with your boot and not the below as you poster. :scare: :scare:

As previously mentioned, I took the boot-lid weight out and also popped a couple of washers in each of the spring 'thingys', was driving along without the stereo on at the weekend and it almost sounded like a rear window (I know we don't have any) was open. I can only assume therefore that the weight is to help the boot-lid stay down and make a good seal with the rubber strips against the body-work. I didn't have time to put it back in, but just quickly took the washers out of the spring thingys and it seemed to improve.

So I'm going to replace the weight again and see if adding back the washers to the spring thingys will be enough to pop it open properly, otherwise a set of new spring thingys at £140 (inc. vat) is unfortunately needed.

(I don't want to retro-fit a stronger spring as this will presumably counter-act the weight of replacing the boot weight.)

Of course and that was my thinking. But, as above, all seems to be as it should be with regards the seals. I've ordered some new trim clips and am going to replace the lid weight, replace the missing and broken clips and see how I get on, if need be will add a washer or two to the boot poppers or worst-case purchase some new ones

  18. Nope, wish it did though. Does your 11 plate have the short curved end pieces as per the 09 plate photo above?

no it doesnt, they are just straight pieces but there is a hole in the boot lid for where that piece would have been riveted

    Thanks same as mine then.

Problem solved then, for some reason Nissan stopped fitting the small curved end at some point in 2010.

If the schematic is anything to go by then possibly at some point in the past, or possibly very recently, they fitted a much longer piece.

  19. No leaks, just being anal in that if something was missing I'd replace it.

No accident damage at all from what I can see/tell, I possibly broke one of the clips removing the lid trim but one was definitely missing - it may have been from new!?

My straight pieces don’t have the short curved end pieces attached that yours do, possibly they never had, whereas the schematic shows the curved end pieces being much much longer!?

My gut feeling now is that the car simply came like it from new, it’s a slightly later 'model' from your 2009 therefore possibly they simply stopped putting the curved end bits on.

Thanks for your help and the photo.
