  1. Ive just swapped from my 350z that i owned 1 year,to this 370z in Le Mans Blue,on 99k miles.

    It has :

    Envidia Gemini Exhaust

    Z1 Intakes

    Eibach Springs

    Pioneer Apple carplay thing installed

First impressions are it feels lighter than the 350z,certainly a lot quicker - going from 287bhp to 330bhp. And that exhaust sounds amazing. The only thing i dont like is the mechanical rattle when you set off in 1st or 2nd gear, but i ve been told that the aftermarket flywheel, and you just have to put up with it.

The car is certainly a real head turner, and that colour is just another level and seems quite rare!

Some things i need to do to it :

Gallery Gaskets (never been done ive been told - quote is £900)

    New numberplates

New windscreen (has a chip and wiper scratches)

I will keep this thread updated!

  2. Ive just purchased a 370z,i love the car - the only thing thats worring me is this loud metallic rattle when i pull on ff in low revs in 1st or 2nd - its fine after around 1k revs. I cant hear anything rattling or loose underneath. I contacted the previous owner and they said its single clutch conversion kit, that’s the noise it makes from dual mass to single mass clutch kit.

Is that likely what it is? I have read on another site that its probably that - to do with an aftermarket flywheel. It does sounds pretty rough in my ears, but is it something you just put up with?

That Scorpion thing - does that just attach to your existing system? Whats the main reason people buy these - the sound?

  5. wow, this thread blew up haha!

Basically ive narrowed it down to two cars - Cayman S 3.4 or 370Z Nismo - with hopefully a budget of £20K.

I just feel a white 370Z Nismo looks more 'special' and rare than a Cayman, plus running costs would be cheaper - which might sway me.

As we talking about price points and bang for you buck - you cant really beat the Renault Sports for that - i came from a Megane R26 with LSD and 265 bhp..and it was worth £5K. Massive value for money - as long as you can live with the electrical issues and build quality.

My 350Z literally has no rattles and feels so much more solid than the Megane. But both were as much fun to drive as each other - obviously NA vs Turbo though.

Better in every way that matters. Better chassis, better interior, better noise, better balance, and the same costs to run and own. 987.1 leaves you somewhat at the mercy of the M97 issues, but the odds of either IMS or D-chunk failed are about 5% (but expensive to fix!).

And it has to be the S imo.....the non S at 245 bhp seems a bit underpowered? Even though its the lower tax bracket hehe...

  7. With around a £15K budget ive been looking at other alternatives to my 350Z and the Cayman 987 comes up on the radar a lot. (I dont like convertibles so that rules out the Boxster)

3.4 would be the preferred choice due to the increased power.

Has anyone gone to one? Differences between the Z?

One thing i will say,is that you see quite a few Caymans on the roads compared to the Z. Theyre not as 'rare' imo and so not really more of a head turner.

The Silverstone paint code is WV2 but there are 6 versions of it IIRC.   If it's a UK car the correct name for it is Gunmetal (I think)

Here is mine...almost bordering on a storm grey kind of shade..not sure what the differences are between the silvers/greys.Screenshot_20230306_094938.jpg.5092dcbed617357f1733918057aa185c.jpg

I went from a 350Z DE to a mark 2 Nismo both well documented on here. Completely different cars to drive imho. 350Z is much more engaging to drive , 370Z more if a tourer.. Both great cars but they don’t compare. I then went from the Nismo to a 1970 Datsun SSS coupe. Now that’s a different level entirely…

Im surprised by that,i thought the 350 would be more of the tourer and the 370 more agressive because of the higher power hehe. But then again, ive never driven a 370. How do you mean more 'engaging' to drive?

You can get around the tax, all 2016 June onwards registered 370's come in at the cheaper tax bracket, a mistake I wished I'd had looked into as mine is a May registered vehicle and sits in the higher tax bracket!

Personally I still miss my 350z but I do love owning a Nismo 370. If you were to get a newer 370z GT and modify it then I'd say you'd enjoy owning a 370 more due to the refinements. Owning a Nismo is great but there isn't anywhere near the modifications available without detracting from the car itself so its definitely a catch 22.

In a perfect money isn't a concern world I'd probably have a manual 370 GT in gray, on a 17 plate that I could then waste money on making it true my own

My previous 350z and now Nismo 370z

Id say my budget would be around £15K,so im priced out of a white Nismo - which i do think are the best looking 370s! An early silver 370z just looks a bit dull compared to the Nismo imo. The only thing i dont like about them are those 'pinkish' strips they have hehe.
