  2. Also, just to add I didn't need to do  'Busters harness mod'.

I read another post on here (sorry can't remember who by) that suggested by turning up the volume on the Bose HU to about 3/4 then switching off the power before removing it would ready the amp for the next unit.

I tried it before fitting my Sony XAV-AX3005DB and the volume works as it should. Whether it was a fluke or not I don't know but it's got to be worth a try before cutting and soldering for no reason!

  3. Just to add to this great guide, if anyone searches it like I did, there were a few differences for my JDM auto with sat nav.

The silver ring around the auto gear lever will pop off with a trim removal tool and the the heater control panel will lift out, although it's a tight fit, still being careful with the ribbon cable.

The screws in the centre cubby/sat nav area will be hidden by the sat nav control panel. This panel will lift of with the help of a trim removal tool and then there is white plastic lock connector to remove.

After removing the short connector for the gauges at the top of the console there is another smaller white connector to remove on the left hand side. This will easier to remove once the right hand side one has been done.

Everything else is the same. Sorry I didn't think of pics at the time but hopefully it is self explanatory.

Nice - I've been eyeing up the 3005db for a while now - what do you think of it?

First impressions of it are really good.

Fitting was easy because, although it's a double din front it's got a single din chassis so there is loads of space for wires. I also didn't need to do the speaker wire mod, its loud with the phono connections. I read on here somewhere about turning the volume up on the Bose hu before switching off so I tried that. Maybe that's what did it.

The control panel is easy to use. The DAB interface is way better than the Pioneer in my other Z and Android auto seems to work pretty well. We are going on a 200 mile round trip tomorrow so it will get properly tested then.

  5. So I finally got round to taking some photos, after I installed a new stereo.

She's an 03 Auto (jdm), really clean, got 61000km on with loads of history. Heated seats, Bose system with lovely Japanese sat nav. I've just put in a Sony XAV-AX3005DB. I'm really happy with the way it looks and sounds. I extended the USB, mainly for Android Auto and even got to keep my cupholders!
