  3. Just a little update.

Called Nissan dealership in Rowstock and ordered a genuine wheel bearing from them which was £93. I asked if they recommend changing hub flange when changing the bearing and they said no as long as the hub is not damaged, which it isn't.

I've changed the wheel bearing, this time it took a lot less time as I already knew what do do (approx 2 hours). I also done up the main axle/bearing nut torque settings this time, as last time we could not find them, maybe this was the problem that caused bearing to fail. Although I've done quite a few cars with no torque settings on bearing nuts and they have never failed.

Anyway, let's hope this issue won't happen again :)

Thanks everyone for help and input

  4. Right, so after some investigation I found where I ordered it from and how much I've paid. It was from www.carparts4less.co.uk/, and I've paid £65. Not sure where I had £35 figure from in my head, never mind.

After browsing today and comparing the prices, I've found that ECP, Andrew Page and CarParts4Less, all sell the same bearing with the same Part No, but at different prices. With a discount code, I've paid today £58 from CarParts4Less.

I will investigate the bearing when it turns up, check Part No, and fit it again. I will also book it in to Horsham and get them to do GEO. If no problems found, we will see what should happen again :)

Don't like doing wheel bearings :bang:

  5. Echoing what Dan said, you have some proper nice suspension on there, make sure you're getting it adjusted regularly.

Thanks man, it is a beauty to drive.

As well as Eibach adjustable ARB's and Super Pro Bannana Arm bushes, the handling is one of my favourite things on the Z :teeth::drive1

  6. That's your punishment for filming in 'Tard O'Vision :p

But yeah, ECP do some good stuff and then they do some tat. Looks like you ended up with some tat.

Haha, sorry. Trying to film one hand and jiggle the bearing the other hand, not easy :p

Should I be looking at getting the new wheel bearing directly from Nissan Oxford dealership?

  7. £35 sounds very cheap? I'm sure I paid a LOT more than that for a front one a few years ago. Low quality item? Installed correctly?

Actually looking at some prices now, maybe I was wrong about £35, more like £50 ish. It's a shame that I can't remember which dealer it was from and I don't have a receipt. And yes I'm sure we did install it correctly, me and my friend we both have been around the spanner for years on our own cars and bikes, but you never know, maybe we did something wrong, but what..? I did watch few Youtube videos and forum threads before doing the job, but wheel bearing is not a big job in my eyes, sort of self explanatory.

Instinct says bad bearing, try another first, since it's the current path of least resistance, and if that fails, you know its something to do with the car, but I can't imagine what...excessive toe or camber, bad wheel balance, but you'd know if it was any of those...

I will do. Wheel balance shouldn't be the problem, as it feels all fine, no vibrations coming through. Toe or camber, not sure, but from what I know when buying the car, it did say in the description - "New Meister R Zeta S coilovers and a pair of adjustable Camber arms, and FULL Geo sorted by Sly at Kaiser Motorsport in 2014". So I expect it to be OK.

  8. Hi Guys,

I'm a new owner of 350Z (purchased back in September), and would like to get some advice.

When I bought the car in September, it had a rear left wheel bearing on its way out, as it was making a loud noise the faster you go. Not a problem, I ordered a new one from Andrew Page or EuroCarParts (can't remember which one) for around £35. Changed it myself with the help of my friend, and it was all OK. I thought job done for at least the duration of my ownership as wheel bearings last for years and many miles.

Anyway, few days ago, I started hearing a strange noise coming from the same wheel. It didn't sound like a wheel bearing, as the noise/sound was come and go, and it sounded more like a brake pads getting low.. So I thought I will inspect the wheel. I jacked up the car, and guess what. I could move the wheel sideways like an inch or so. Proper play in the wheel. So I took of the wheel, and realised that the wheel bearing is knackered.

As anyone would be, I was really surprised and I did not expect the wheel bearing to last 4-5 months :/

I have never had same issue on any of the cars I owned (some German some Japs).

This raised a lot of questions in my head, what could have caused this issue to happen..? Faulty bearing? Camber? Any other ideas?

Before I buy the new bearing, I was wondering if anyone could recommend which one to go for? Which dealer? Also has anyone had similar issues to me?

Here is a short video, just to demonstrate how bad the wheel bearing is playing up..

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!
