  1. I sold my 350Z recently so it's time for a clearout.

  2. Thanks for an amazing trip everyone, especially to Irn Bru for organising it so well! I had a real blast, felt like I was starring in Fast and Furious at times. :D Sorry we didn't get a chance to say goodbye to some, we left a bit earlier to drive through Oban, excellent road and a great ending to an unforgettable weekend. I have plenty of pretty good camera footage, will try to make a short video in a couple of weeks.

  3. ...and the Celica GT4 ones just nestled nicely under there somewhere yeah? ;)

Im hoping the focus RS one is under there somewhere lol

Nah, I had them specially made so that they fade and turn into a BMW badge after a few minutes in sunlight. :D

that won't happen, there is no sunlight here in Scotland :(

Irn Bru seems like a good organiser, I'm sure he's ordered some nice weather for us for this weekend!

  4. Adrian if you read back the route I have planned you will see that alot of the original NC500 has been missed out deliberately due to time constraints on us, for instance the Lochalsh - Applecross route has been omitted because it just takes too much time to do. I done this route on my bike and alot of it single track rough road mixed with "c" roads, great if we had the extra day (5 days as I did on the bike) but when originally planning this I could only do 4 days due to business constraints. I'll look back the posts and let you know which post number the actual route we will be following is on.

Thanks mate, I thought you must have it all figured out, especially since you've been there before, I forgot about the route post it was that long ago. :p

Coming to think about it, it's probably even better than the full nc500, I can't imagine single track roads with blind bends and sheep running across the road much fun to drive.

I've spent all past week getting the BM ready and I think it finally is, Friday can't come soon enough! :)

  5. Third post in a row, why has this thread gone so quiet all of a sudden, is everyone busy polishing their cars for Friday? :)

I've put the NC500 route into google maps for our second day (between Kyle and Thurso) as it seemed a bit long and according to Google it's 9 hours of non stop driving...

It would be a shame to rush through the best part of Highlands and not stop for pics, etc., Irn Bru, have you got a plan in mind on how we do this?

I guess we don't have any other option than setting off really early?

    Any thoughts on this?

  6. I was browsing youtube with the Mrs last night searching for north coast 500 videos so that we know what to expect and I stumbled upon this:

It's the EVO magazine Car of the Year 2015 feature, filmed as they went around NC500, if you have spare 30 mins I'd highly recommend watching it, stunning scenery and some sexy metal, even my wife who prefers watching cute owl videos loved it. ;)

  7. My excitement has just gone up ten-fold, I had a problem with steering wheel play and was worried I won't fix it before the trip, well - I just did, in the most unexpected way imaginable.

2 garages recommended changing the steering rack (which sounded weird in a 100k miles bmw), I snooped around some forums and found a post about a bolt in the steering column joint that can work itself loose over time.

You know where this is going - I tightened the bolt and all play is gone, I can't f****** believe it, legendary german enginering my ass!! Wouldn't happen on a jap car. :)

I'm 320bhp and 340lbft. Should be 340bhp but was down on power on my dyno run. I think its due to the rubbish intercooler ford fit as standard

Nice one, mine's a good 100 kg heavier so we should be hitting the 60mph speed limit in a similar pace... :innocent::D

  8. Oops, 6 days, the pressure’s on! I moved from a 350Z which was ready for a trip around the world, nevermind Scotland to a car that I know very little about and that has a few niggles to sort out to make it fully enjoyable...

Be interesting to know what power peoples cars are putting out. Not that we will be driving fast at all...

    I’m curious about this too, mine’s a 06 335i coupe mapped to 366bhp.

  9. I thought bringing a German car to a Jap meet/trip could be a bit controversial. :D OK, bimmer it is then!

I made the list a bit clearer, I am guessing everyone who didn't put their car model is driving a 350z?

  10. I might have to update the car I will be coming in, I was planning to look for something new after this trip but I saw an ad with pretty much exactly what I wanted for a really good price and well, I went to view it and bought it on Thursday... I haven't sold the 350 yet but I'm itching to drive the beemer on some nice roads... You won't mind if I come in a modded e92 335i rather than the zed, will you? :p

  11. I had a quick go at designing some smallish stickers for the rear windows.

Let me know if there's any interest and I'll get some ordered.

I was limited by the resolution of the original nc500 logo so I'm not sure if the resolution is high enough but hopefully it is, I was thinking around 5"x5" size.

    1. Irn Bru 350z all booked

    2. Bradders brand spanking new 350z all booked

  12. I bought my 04 de at 32k, had an alternative of getting a slightly modded revup for the same money at 85k, same great condition and fsh, I bet I will lose less in value (if any) thanks to going for the lower mileage one.

Some people are happy with a 200k mileage, others will stay away from anything over 30k but the trend is always the same - the lower the better and it's the people who are ready to pay more for lower mileage that inflate the price of those cars as there's not that many around.

  13. My experience of looking for a decent Z in the middle of summer in 2014 was that the chances of finding a bargain at that time of the year are rather slim.

At the time I was toying with the idea of selling my previous car for a while so I have been browsing ads since around March and there seemed to be way more cars to choose from at the time compared to summer when I decided to buy one.

When the weather picks up cars like Z's are sought after and the good ones disappear literally within days.

I didn't want to book a day off so tried to arrange viewings for Saturdays and I must have missed out on at least 3 cars!

In terms of the prices, I think low mileage cars were (and probably still are) a good investment.

The difference in price between low and high mileage examples was very small (at least 2 years ago), I will be surprised if that difference doesn't keep growing now with a lot of cars being around 100k mark and people being afraid of 3 digit mileage.
